Baby Serendipity: The Whole World Fell In Love With Me -
Chapter 109 - 108: The Invisibility Charm Has Failed?
Chapter 109: Chapter 108: The Invisibility Charm Has Failed?
Mianmian felt something was off as soon as she arrived in the basement.
Even though she was invisible, she could still feel as if someone was watching her; the sensation of being stared at was very strong.
She patted Bai Bai’s head, hoping to see if her little friend could smell the Snake Demon scent that Erya mentioned, but instead, she saw her companion’s head shaking like a rattle-drum.
Seeing Mianmian’s disappointment, Bai Bai also felt wronged.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to smell the scent; there just wasn’t any. Otherwise, he would have detected it when he came down with Chu Qi and would have reported it to Mianmian.
The group, invisible, silently made their way to the dungeon area of the basement.
Indeed, many people were imprisoned here, both children and adults, uniformly all girls.
The youngest one seemed to be about the same age as Mianmian.
Their expressions were blank; when hungry, they’d nibble on the slop-like food in front of them, their bodies filthy and nothing like that of normal people.
Chu Qi and Bai Bai were on their second visit; Bai Bai, as a demon, had no empathy for anyone except Mianmian. But Chu Qi, being human, was pained thinking about how these people were trafficked and deceived, and even on the second visit, it still hurt his heart.
While Dragon Country’s international status was on the rise, these dark events were still happening underground, one after another.
Fortunately, this time they had resolved his son’s issue, so he could focus on missions afterward.
Chu Qi was heartbroken, and so was Su Chenfei.
Having rescued a few children in the Cave earlier, he already felt they were pitiable, but that didn’t come close to the shock of the current scene!
How could these girls be treated like this? Not to mention some were as young as Little Auntie.
Maybe in the future, he should spend the money he earned on preventing trafficking.
But as for how to rescue them now, they still had to see what Little Auntie would do.
Su Chenfei looked towards Mianmian.
Mianmian was currently approaching a cage, reaching out to touch the wrist of one of the women. After doing so, she looked into the woman’s bewildered eyes and felt discomfort.
These people had been taking hallucinogenic drugs for a long time; there was no way to bring them back to consciousness immediately.
Mianmian shook her head at Chu Ye.
Chu Qi understood and made a snake gesture with his hand, indicating they should look for the Snake Demon first.
The group headed deeper into the basement, rediscovering the thrill they once had adventuring in the ancient tombs.
The group kept walking until they finally emerged from the darkness and saw light.
It turned out to be a very luxurious ancient-style building, glittering with gold and grandeur. The pillars supporting the house were even carved with dragon motifs, extravagantly beautiful.
Liao An clenched her jaws tightly upon arriving here, her eyes filled with deep hatred.
Chu Ye noticed Liao An’s emotional state and patted her.
The invisibility charm was great, except you couldn’t make any noise carelessly; making noise would reveal your presence. He lifted his little hand to his mouth and made a shushing gesture to Liao An.
Liao An, taken aback by the pat, slowly retracted the two sharp fangs on her upper lip, suppressing her emotions and focusing her gaze on Little Bun walking ahead.
Initially, when she tipped off the outsiders about Erya being beaten, she was just taking a gamble. She hoped that at the very least, the outsiders could take Erya away, without considering her own fate at all.
She hadn’t expected things to turn out like this, with the village chief brothers being subdued, and her, someone with such an identity, actually joining the outsiders in exploring the Underground Palace.
What was even more outrageous was that, among these people, it seemed not the formidable Chu Qi who was in charge, but a three-year-old toddler.
Could they really succeed?
Liao An still harbored deep skepticism in her heart.
Even if they didn’t succeed, it might not matter right? If these people all died here, the village chief said the online public opinion would at least bring attention to this village, potentially reducing tragedies like her mother’s, right?
Thinking this, Liao An showed a bitter smile.
"Hahaha, young master, come over here, I’m here~"
"Come to me, I’m right here~"
As Mianmian and her group started ascending the steps, women’s voices suddenly emanated from inside the Palace. In unison, they slowed their pace, cautiously moving inward.
The sound came from the side hall on the left side of the stairs.
The door to the side hall wasn’t closed, walking up one could see a small pool within, with red gauze fluttering down from above. Liao Zhe, blindfolded, was playing games with some scantily clad women, laughter constantly filling the air.
After a while, Liao Zhe caught hold of a woman, and both of them tumbled into the pool. When they stood up, two brown snake tails surprisingly appeared in the shallow water.
Su Chenfei felt a tingling sensation on his scalp, seeing that Little Auntie had gone too far ahead, he hesitated and decided to get closer to Chu Qi, reaching out to touch Chu Qi’s shoulder for a sense of safety.
Chu Qi, also surprised by the sight of a person sprouting a snake tail right before his eyes, suddenly felt someone touching him and subconsciously grabbed Su Chenfei’s wrist.
Shit, that hurts!
Su Chenfei knew where he was and didn’t dare make a sound, could only clench his teeth and bear the pain, while trying to break free.
It was only then that Chu Qi realized it was Su Chenfei who had approached him, he quickly released his hand and mouthed, "Sorry."
Su Chenfei desperately shook his hand, and with his other uninjured hand made gestures indicating it was alright. Damn it, he would never casually get close to Chu Qi again, no wonder he had the Dragon Ring, his reaction speed was so fast!
While silently critiquing Chu Qi, Su Chenfei turned his gaze back to the pool.
This glance was disastrous, Liao Zhe was now embracing that woman in the pool, looking like they were about to lock lips and do things only adults do.
Su Chenfei hurriedly took two steps forward, intending to cover Mianmian’s eyes.
But someone was one step ahead of him, and that was Chu Ye.
Chu Ye stood in front of Mianmian, using his hand to block her view, though he himself watched the activities in the pool with an expressionless face.
Su Chenfei gritted his teeth: This darn kid, how come he’s watching such scenes so intently at such a young age? You can tell a child at age three what he’ll be like at age seven, Chu Ye was going to be something else, he’d better not think about pursuing his Little Auntie when he’s grown!
Mianmian, suddenly having her eyes covered, raised her small hand trying to move Chu Ye’s hand away.
She was counting how many half-demons there were below, and suddenly couldn’t see anymore!
In the pool, Liao Zhe was already pressing the woman against the wall.
It was only now that Chu Ye averted his eyes, no longer looking at the scenes below.
He was just curious and took a couple of extra looks. After watching, he realized that the mating behaviors of half-human half-snake creatures were not much different from humans.
"How about that, my skills..."
Hearing Liao Zhe below start to speak dirty, Chu Ye turned around, covered Mianmian’s ears, and used his body to prevent Mianmian from looking down.
Mianmian tilted her little face up, gazing at Chu Ye with a puzzled expression. She didn’t understand why suddenly she was not allowed to hear the sounds anymore, big brother was really strange.
But then, the demons below were only half-demons, they probably weren’t the Python Demon that Liang An had spoken of, right?
If they weren’t, then they still had to find where the real Snake Demon was hiding.
Mianmian frowned, still feeling very puzzled.
She looked to Bai Bai at her side, touched her nose, and her gaze asked Bai Bai if he had smelled anything, but Bai Bai just shook his head.
In this Underground Palace, he couldn’t smell anything at all!
Mianmian silently sighed and signaled everyone to leave the room together.
They still had to find the real Python Demon!
If not in the side hall on the left, they would check the right one.
If not on the right, they would go to the central main hall.
At the top of the main hall was actually a plaque with the words "Dragon Palace" written in dancing dragon and phoenix characters. Walking inside, a long red carpet extended upwards, not crossing the stairs.
Mianmian paused for a moment.
Because at the end of the carpet, on the dragon throne, sat a man with long hair, wearing a black and gold robe and a royal crown.
The man’s lips curved into a smile that was not quite a smile. He leaned back leisurely in the chair, a pair of serpentine and bewitching vertical pupils fixed on Mianmian.
Having felt as if she had been watched earlier, Mianmian now realized that she might indeed have been watched; disbelief filled her big eyes.
Oh no! Could it be that her invisibility charm had stopped working?
