Chapter 106: Chapter 105: You are a Little Money-Losing Good
Yi Min had thought that Chu Ye would be happy with the suggestion.
He had already noticed that all the kids only liked Mianmian and just wanted to play with Su Mianmian.
Who would have known that such a good suggestion would be rejected by Chu Ye with a shake of his head, "I’m now her competitor, I can’t go find her. Do you have any tasks I can do?"
Yi Min shook his head, "Why don’t you ask other people in the village? I really don’t have any tasks for you."
Chu Ye refused again, "I can’t go too far from dad."
Yi Min: ...
"Then just play around in the house, uncle is a bit sleepy now and would like to continue sleeping."
Yi Min thought, children have no patience, surely he would leave to play as soon as he sees me sleeping. Anyway, he was not in the mood to entertain the Little Friend.
But after he closed his eyes for a while and secretly cracked them open to see if Chu Ye had left, he found out that Chu Ye was watching him quietly all along.
The child’s eyes were naturally clear and seemed big, and being stared at so intently, Yi Min felt his scalp tingle and was unable to think anymore.
He finally gave in, "Alright, can’t I just assign you a task?"
Yi Min closed the door to the room and took Chu Ye up to the third floor.
His house was three stories tall, and currently, no one lived on the third floor. The rooms were empty, filled with various items and some fancy, old pottery jars. The pottery jars were placed against the wall, ranging in size, with the largest looking big enough to contain a grown person.
"You clean this up, alright? If you do a good job, I’ll give you a Good Person Card."
Chu Ye nodded, watched Yi Min go downstairs, and then "accidentally" knocked over a pottery jar from the shelf with a broom.
The jar shattered with a clang.
Yi Min heard the noise, returned, and saw Chu Ye standing next to the pottery shards with a downcast and pitiful look.
"It’s alright, these jars aren’t valuable. If they’re broken, they’re broken," Yi Min reassured Chu Ye, casually swept up the shards, and turned to leave.
He had only gone a few steps when behind him came the sound of another pottery jar breaking.
Yi Min, speechless, looked back at the jars on the ground and noticed a red color on one of the fragments. He paused, quickly took the broom, and swept up the broken pieces.
"Be careful, these jars have been passed down from my ancestors, I wouldn’t want to throw them away." Fearing that Chu Ye would break another jar, Yi Min thought he should find another task for Chu Ye, "How about I give you something else to do, Xiaoye?"
Chu Ye’s voice was dejected, "Don’t switch, I can clean up well. Maybe Uncle Yi Min could teach me here? I always do the chores well when dad teaches me."
Yi Min didn’t want to stand there supervising, but considering the kind persona he had previously presented, he hesitated for a moment and agreed.
"Okay, I’ll teach you," he said. "Go ahead and clean, and I’ll tell you if there’s an issue."
A glimmer appeared in Chu Ye’s eyes, and with his head bowed, he started cleaning again.
He stood with his back to the wall, holding the broom, stretching it forward carelessly, then pulling it back, almost knocking over one of the large jars behind him.
Yi Min hurriedly intervened and demonstrated for Chu Ye, actually teaching him how to clean.
At this time, when Chu Qi should have been cooking, he appeared at Yi Min’s door along with the puppy-like Bai Bai.
After surveying the surroundings, Chu Qi used a wire to open the door and entered with Bai Bai, beginning to observe the interior.
He inspected the room and noticed the wooden floorboards underneath. He knelt down to tap and listen. When he heard a sound different from the rest, he looked up to search for a potential mechanism above.
...
Er Ya cried for a while, then tenderly placed the sleeping infant back into the crib.
Seeing her eldest son being held by Mianmian, she, who had just snapped out of her sadness, was startled and quickly picked up her son.
"You, how are you so strong?"
With a smile, Mianmian replied, "Mianmian has always been this strong. Even adults can’t beat Mianmian."
Saying so, Little Bun raised her arm and struck a "strong" pose. Her little arms were plump, making it impossible to spot any muscle even like this.
Such an adorable gesture made Erya burst into laughter through her tears, "Mianmian, you’re so amazing, how wonderful."
Mianmian tilted her head, "Yes, Mianmian is very amazing, so if Sister Erya has any troubles, you can tell Mianmian, and if Sister Erya is bullied, Mianmian will come to help."
Upon hearing this, Erya cast her eyes down, "Not at all, I don’t have any troubles, and nobody is bullying me. The village chief said I might be suffering a bit from postpartum depression. It’s normal to cry from time to time."
While speaking, Erya smiled gently at the camera and pulled out a good person card from her pocket.
"This is for you, Mianmian. Thank you for taking care of Gou Dan."
Mianmian took the good person card, "Thank you, Sister Erya."
At that moment, Su Chenfei’s voice could be heard from outside, "The fish has been taken care of!"
Hearing this, Erya stepped out the door with Gou Dan in her arms, also holding a good person card. She looked at the fish, noticing the cuts were very neat and the scales cleanly removed. She smiled in satisfaction, "Thank you, this is for you. I heard you didn’t have breakfast. We’ve already eaten at my house, there are a few meat buns left, would you like to have them?"
Su Chenfei quickly thanked her and left with the meat buns, leading Mianmian away.
Erya watched Su Chenfei and Mianmian’s retreating figures with envy in her eyes.
The crew was filming close-ups of Su Chenfei and Mianmian at this time, hence the camera was directly aimed at Erya.
She wished she could leave too, but unfortunately, she couldn’t.
After leaving Erya’s house, Su Chenfei and Mianmian walked around the village, seeing who needed help, and by the end of the day, the grandfather-granddaughter duo were thoroughly exhausted.
It wasn’t dark yet, but they planned to visit a couple more homes; since they didn’t know who lived where on the list, it made taking souls inconvenient.
Mianmian and Su Chenfei knocked on the door of the nearest house. A plump man answered, and upon seeing Mianmian and Su Chenfei, he immediately started scolding, "The village chief said this morning that someone would come to help, just give out some sort of card, and I’ve been waiting all day. You should’ve come earlier."
Mianmian recognized the plump man’s face as someone on the soul-taking list.
She silently noted the location of the house, entered the yard, and before she could steady herself, was pushed by someone.
Mianmian turned to see that it was a chubby child.
The little fatty’s hands were dirty, as if he’d been playing with something filthy, and after pushing her, he made a face at Mianmian.
"Little troublemaker, hehehe."
Upon hearing this, Su Chenfei frowned and kicked the little fatty, "You little brat, watch your mouth!"
The kick sent the chubby child stumbling back several steps. Holding his chest, he burst into tears, "Dad, he kicked me, wuwuwu."
The man frowned, "So what if he kicked you, what’s the big deal? Don’t bother me, go play over there."
After speaking, he then told Su Chenfei, "Come here. There’s no firewood left in the house, and you’ll need to split it all before I’ll give you a card."
Su Chenfei sneered, "Thank you, but I don’t need your card. Let’s go, Little Auntie."
After that, he took Mianmian by the hand and walked away.
Upon hearing this, the fat man spat in the direction of Su Chenfei’s retreating back, "What garbage? Just a play-actor selling his body, and he dares give me attitude! Back in the day, I could have killed him with a slap of my hand!"
