Chapter 941 - 941 317 The Noble Consort is Dead
Chapter 941: Chapter 317 The Noble Consort is Dead Chapter 941: Chapter 317 The Noble Consort is Dead Feng Yin heaved a sigh of relief, quickly gathered up the six little ones, and securely took them with him. Only then did he truly feel at ease.
Next, naturally, he fell with a thud, his lips cyan and his face pale, as if his soul had been frightened out of him he yelled loudly, “Damn, there actually are snake spirits…”
Upon seeing him tumble out in such a sorry state, everyone staggered back a few steps, not daring to help him up for a moment.
It was Feng Yin himself who scrambled to his feet amidst the crowd, where people dodged away, obviously afraid that he might have snake venom on him.
“Such a huge snake spirit…” Physician Feng seemed to have been scared out of his wits.
Then he secretly asked the little snake with his divine sense, “What happened?”
The little snake hurriedly communicated with the smaller snakes, “What happened?”
The tiny snakes: “Hiss hiss hiss…”
Through this exchange, the true story was finally clarified.
Ever since their time at the inn, the little snakes had gotten used to the good life of having food delivered to them. Six of the little rascals, left unattended and bursting with energy, began wreaking havoc under the covers. With their small size, the commotion wasn’t loud enough to be noticed by outsiders.
However, in the midst of their mischief, they became thirsty and started looking for water.
Yet, being newly born into the world and far from transforming into human form, they couldn’t easily find water to drink.
Somehow, one of the little ones managed to slip out through the crack under the door.
Only to bump right into the waiter.
With its small size, roughly the length of a chopstick, the waiter didn’t see it coming and nearly stepped on it.
In desperation, the tiny snake displayed its newly learned Serpentine Spirit Form.
And so, an enormous snake materialized, scaring the waiter off.
What followed was the explosive news of a snake spirit’s mischief spreading like wildfire.
And yet, even after its appearance, there were those who refused to believe and wanted to see for themselves.
The little ones, though endowed with unique talents, had limited magical power and could only band together, working in unison to display the spirit form.
After that… well, naturally, the entire Yanhui Building descended into utter chaos!
The whole situation was simple, merely a misunderstanding.
But now, it was beyond repair.
The appearance of the enormous snake spirit was real, and it wasn’t just one person who had seen it!
Facing this predicament, even Feng Yin couldn’t come up with a solution and could only let things unfold on their own.
Feng Yin attributed his frustration to a light sigh.
“Little ones will be little ones. It hasn’t been long, and they’ve already caused trouble… My heavens, hurry and let your father take you away, don’t cause me any more problems. Don’t you know that the last thing an assassin needs is to attract attention and be exposed?”
Before long, a group of men in black appeared and without saying a word, charged straight into the building.
The arrivals belonged to the Heavenly Clothes sect.
But by the time they entered… where was the mischievous snake spirit to be found?
No matter how the person in charge of Heavenly Clothes stood on high ground and shouted, “I don’t know which friend of the snake clan is joking around here, but please show yourself,” the snake friend wouldn’t appear.
The logic was sound though.
After all, that huge snake spirit had appeared without causing a single injury.
If it truly harbored malice, probably would have already eaten everyone in the Yanhui Building cleanly, without risking early detection.
So the other party surely didn’t intend to escalate the situation; maybe it was an unintended revelation that brought about their own trouble…
Yeah, that must be it.
But no matter how much they called out, the “friend of the snake clan” simply did not appear.
With no other option, they had to start debunking rumors.
“It must have been a transformed elder of the snake clan who inadvertently revealed their true form, and just happened to be seen by people in the building. But such an incident, for an entity of that stature, is quite embarrassing, so… it’s understandable why they wouldn’t show themselves.”
“I reckon that elder is hiding among the crowd right now… but since nothing happened when they were discovered, I believe there won’t be any further issues. It’s all just a misunderstanding, everyone can rest assured and continue their stay in the inn… It’s all fine now.”
This was an utterly and thoroughly ridiculous misunderstanding.
But this ridiculous mix-up left the owner of the Yanhui Building weeping faintly in the bathroom.
Because, no matter how you explained it, and regardless of whether the Greater Demon among the snake clan lay hidden in the heartland of humanity, another undeniable fact remained: the biggest inn in the Imperial Capital was indeed harboring snake spirits.
Even practitioners of profound cultivation would have their reservations about this, not to mention ordinary people?
A snake that large, a single bite could take a life without even needing to chew before swallowing whole!
Stay?
How could anyone continue to stay?
Who among those able to afford the Yanhui Building isn’t wealthy?
And another common trait of the wealthy is… fear of death!
Fear death, of course, I would not stay here.
The clientele of the Yanhui Building left in droves.
And of those who left, aside from offering his sincere apologies, the owner of the Yanhui Building even compensated them for seven days’ worth of lodging!
The Yanhui Building snake spirit incident seemed to have calmed down.
However, it had already caught the attention of various powers within Capital City.
“Snake spirit?”
“Keep an eye on Yanhui Building.”
“Investigate! What exactly happened.”
“Proceed secretly.”
Some wanted to make connections, some had other motives, some sought cooperation, and others wanted the snake’s skin, gall, flesh, and pearls…
Suddenly, various purposes were all focused on the Yanhui Building.
…
And Feng Yin, as the instigator, returned to settle in the Yanhui Building. Although he didn’t check out and flee, he still appeared as jittery as everyone else.
