Chapter 270: Chapter 32: Traitor【Two-In-One】_2 Chapter 270: Chapter 32: Traitor【Two-In-One】_2 “Furthermore, the civilian faction has a constant stream of talent emerging, not just in military and academics. This flourishing applies to every trade and every field. A glance at the merchants across the continent, who have been flocking to Great Qin the most frequently, one can imagine the outstanding individuals that have emerged within these industries.”

“This fact doesn’t need anyone to reiterate, as the other six nations are already restless, unable to find peace in sleep or at meals!”

“What is it called in history when an entire country in all fields and industries sees an emergence of talent, and not just a single individual, even if such an individual has extraordinary talent and is favoured by Heaven?”

Mo Yuantu pronounced each word clearly, “It’s called an omen of a rising dragon!”

“Hence, Great Qin has long become the target of all arrows – a thorn in the eye and flesh of other countries!”

“This rapid rise of Wenmou might not just depend on other factors, but more likely, he is a naturally gifted assassin, who has perhaps already been identified as a future rising star within the Heavenly Judge’s faction. Then there’s Dong Xiaoyan who, for the same reason, fell prey to the early demise of Ice Phoenix!”

“In other words… This Wenmou is not just our enemy, but also likely the enemy of the other six nations!”

The more Mo Yuantu spoke, the clearer the originally chaotic threads in his mind became, “So, we fundamentally targeted the wrong people by seeking out Great Qin! We should be seeking Great Yan, Great Qi, and Great Chu!”

“While the people of Great Qin certainly will not reveal anything about Wenmou, as long as we clarify our intentions, I believe that countries like Great Yan and Great Qi would gladly cooperate with us – even going as far as to pledge people and resources!”

Mo Yuantu took in a deep breath, “Your sister-in-law and I will set off for Great Yan right away! Let the authorities of Great Yan give us a Gold Rank assassin of the Heavenly Judge, one who is about to participate in the training course!”

“Yuanqing, you’ll need to stay here.”

Mo Yuanqing nodded, “Big brother, I agree with your judgement, but we need to move swiftly. As per the custom of the Gold Rank training course, once it has started, it spans a minimum period of three months.”

“I’m well aware of this.”

They concluded their discussion.

No one noticed that the supposed ‘traitor’ of the Heavenly Judge’s assassins who had been knocked unconscious was in fact quite alert. He remained still as a stone in the corner with his eyes shut, his ears perked up to catch their conversation.

Of course, this was mostly because Mo Yuantu didn’t give him a second thought.

Regardless of whether the traitor was unconscious or not, he wouldn’t take extra precautions.

After all, he was just a small fry and a traitor against his own creed at that!

Even if he stir, what storm could possibly arise?

Without wasting any more time, Mo Yuantu and his wife mounted their steed and took off at a brisk pace.

The ‘traitor’ chose this moment to open his eyes.

Mo Yuanqing sighed, “You need to watch what you say traitor, you’re a grown man now. You should know what you can say and what you should keep to yourself. Don’t you know your limits?”

The traitor bowed his head, a penetrating sadness in his voice, “Yes, I have a quick temper. I will definitely change.”

“Well, you’ve worked hard these days. There shouldn’t be anything else to do tonight. Leave the Heavenly Judgment behind and go home for some rest.”

These past few days, apart from the first day, it had been the same routine every day. By nightfall, the traitor would leave behind the Heavenly Judgment and head home for some rest.

As long as he was alive, the Heavenly Judgment would not vanish.

His only purpose was to ensure the continuous activation of the Heavenly Judgment, that’s all!

Mo Yuanqing glanced distastefully at the traitor, tossing a healing pill on the ground, “Take this for your injuries.”

Without another word, he turned to leave.

The traitor bowed low, watching the pill rolling around on the ground.

After a long while, when the pill finally stopped rolling and laid still, the traitor finally stooped down to pick it up.

He put the pill in his mouth.

He lowered his head, his hair messy, covering his face and eyes.

He then walked out, step by step. All the way out, to everyone he encountered he bowed and respectfully greeted, not making any sudden movements.

These people, any one of them, could easily decide his fate.

If he greeted them and said goodbye, they would become impatient and disgusted: A lowlife like you dares to speak to me?

But if he didn’t greet them or say goodbye, a slap would soon fly his way: A lowlife like you dares to ignore me?

And so he finally left the gate.

The traitor finally let out a breath of relief. Another day’s work had ended.

During this time, he was beaten and scolded almost every day.

Every day, it was only when he had left that gate behind that he felt as if he’d been reborn.

As usual, he walked down the street.

In his pocket was today’s wages, a couple of small denomination silver bonds, and in his hand, the leftovers from the lunch of those big shots.

All the way until he returned home, just before entering the dark alleyway where his home was, the traitor stopped to tidy himself up. He straightened his hat, rubbed his face with warm hands until it broke out in a blush, making him appear more radiant, and then straightened his clothes and shoes. With his naturally hunched body now upright, he strode into his home with a bright smile.

Just as if he was a victorious general returning home, with many spoils of war.

The moment he opened the door, his four or five-year-old daughter came running over, cheering, “Daddy’s home!”
