Alone with a pot of tea, he sat upright, pouring and drinking on his own, amusing himself, feeling content and comfortable. As his robe fluttered in the wind, he emanated an air of freedom.

The Purple Emperor appeared on the mountaintop in a flash of purple, as if taking a step out from the heavenly mist.

“Brother Bai Hong, you’ve been waiting a long time.”

White Rainbow looked up and calmly said, “Brother Zi, you’ve done a great deed by going out.”

The Purple Emperor frowned, then broke into a smile, “I almost forgot, Brother Bai Hong, you are also an assassin upon the Heavenly Judgment.”

White Rainbow’s eyes flashed sharply as he stared at the Purple Emperor, saying word by word, “I dare to ask Brother Zi, why did you massacre the ordinary people in a small border town? Could it be that there was someone among them who did not know their place and offended Your Excellency, the Purple Emperor!?”

“It seems I’ve made the list? Since I’m on the list, the reason doesn’t really matter, does it?”

“Anyone who commits heinous acts, regardless of their status, will be listed on the Heavenly Judgment without exception!”

White Rainbow took out a volume of the Heavenly Judgment, and read aloud, “Target: Purple Emperor of Great Yan… This beast massacred 435 people in the village, acts wildly, defies morality, totally devoid of humanity. The Heavenly Judge has been tasked to kill him, in the name of the Heaven, to comfort the spirits of the people.”

The Purple Emperor gave a faint smile, “The Heavenly Judge is indeed worthy of his title, daring to list me… To be honest, I’ve always been interested in the Heavenly Judgment, but over the years I’ve never been able to figure out, just how does it monitor the multifarious affairs of the human world?”

White Rainbow took a deep breath, saying solemnly, “That’s not the point. What I want to know now is your reason for doing such a thing.”

The Purple Emperor sneered, “I did what I did. As the Purple Emperor, I always do whatever pleases me; since when do I need to explain myself to you?”

White Rainbow narrowed his eyes, “I’ve given you a chance. Since you choose not to explain, then I must call others to hunt you down! Purple Emperor, even if you are at the top of this world, even if your methods are unparalleled, once I, White Rainbow, decide to turn against you, and set up a death trap, you will not escape death. Purple Emperor, do you believe me or not?”

Upon hearing this, the Purple Emperor squinted his eyes and looked at White Rainbow, his gaze was completely different from before.

“I want explanations!”

White Rainbow demanded sternly.

Helplessly, the Purple Emperor shook his head repeatedly, then sat down in front of White Rainbow and softly said, “At the root of this matter is the one who holds back the seven-tailed Cat Emperor, Mao Yimiao.”

The demon race, because of the loss of their leader, entered into constant internal strife, which only intensified. Mao Yimiao won the first battle, bypassed the second, and her third opponent should have been the winner between Eagle Emperor and Bear Emperor. However, both these recognized strong demons fought a battle to mutual hurt. Just as it seemed that Mao Yimiao would easily pass the third round without any danger, the Demon Emperor unexpectedly reappeared, making the fight of the ten emperors a joke…”

White Rainbow asked,”How does that relate to today’s events?”

“So did you know, after that battle, Mao Yimiao left the demon race and her whereabouts were unknown,” said the Purple Emperor.

“I know you still have doubts.”

The Purple Emperor sighed, “I just don’t want to explain. If I really wanted to prove it, would it be hard? The Hall is located beneath in the Earth-Center-Violet Qi Palace. I will take you there right now to see for yourself. As for injuries and poisons, if you aren’t senile, you should be able to tell clearly!”

“I am more clearheaded than you!” White Rainbow glared at the Purple Emperor.

Saying so, the two got up and left, heading towards the Earth-Center-Violet Qi Palace with the Purple Emperor leading the way.

Before long, they returned to the palace on the mountaintop.
