Chapter 1263: Chapter 79 Demon Race Asks for Help_3 Chapter 1263: Chapter 79 Demon Race Asks for Help_3 “If I still can’t make it out this time, I fear there will be no hope left in this life.”
The Abyss Lord’s voice, murmuring as if to itself, was laden with a heavy solemnity. Although the tone remained indifferent, Purple Emperor detected an unwavering determination to break the cauldrons and sink the boats.
“I have completely burned through all my essence.”
“If it still doesn’t work, then it’s time for a new Heaven’s Path to emerge in the cosmos between heaven and earth.”
The Abyss Lord continued to use his hands to simulate all the lines of the techniques he had deduced.
Streams of white mist weaved through the air, creating endless routes that intertwined and crossed over one another.
All the while multitasking, he conversed with Purple Emperor.
“So now, this is the last chance to put all efforts into one battle. If I break out, it’s my fortune. If not, it’s my fate!”
The Abyss Lord spoke calmly, “Because until now, I cannot understand. With that initial strike, countless members of our kind were shattered into ashes, becoming cosmic dust and space clouds. Why did a few of us manage to survive?”
“Keep in mind, any one of those turned to dust and clouds were far stronger than us survivors.”
“On what basis have they all perished, and yet we still exist?”
“Is it simply because we were luckier? Is it fate?”
The Abyss Lord mused to himself, while under the mask where his eyes should be, they continuously flickered, bursting into white mist that dispersed.
Occasionally, when his emotions surged, it transformed into black smoke that spread out.
Purple Emperor fell into silence for a moment before saying, “No matter how meticulous the hunt, there will inevitably be fish that slip through the net. There are always some that escape. If this can happen in a single family, much more so in a large clan. It seems to me entirely reasonable that you, Lord, survived.”
“Hard to say,” replied the Abyss Lord indifferently.
“What does the Lord imply?”
“Your humans are very cunning. Just from this point alone, it’s hard to determine the reason we became the fish that escaped the net.”
The Abyss Lord chuckled self-deprecatingly and hastened the movements of his hands while saying, “In previous years, the soul records you delivered to me contained many… hmm, stories?”
“That is true,” Purple Emperor recalled.
“Among those stories, some explained the idea of survival of the fittest, as well as the so-called ‘raising gu’ plans. Humans will carry out such self-defeating strategies to cultivate talents within their clan.”
“If we are to argue from this standpoint, I may well be the whetstone they intentionally left behind.”
“…”
Purple Emperor was startled by this conjecture.
It had to be said, if true, it was indeed horrifying.
The Abyss Lord let out a cold laugh and said, “But nothing is absolute in this world, just as humans themselves admit. Using a whetstone can sometimes break the knife.”
“Even if I truly am a whetstone, who’s to say I can’t break the knife?”
The Abyss Lord laughed spitefully.
Before his eyes, puff after puff, his eyes burst five times in succession, ten swirls of smoke bursting out, some white, some black.
He continued to speak while persistently pondering the techniques, constantly revising the laws without any delay.
In short intervals, another Evil Spirit was released.
Once again testing for loyalty as before.
Yet still ending in disappointment, still needing to be brought back, shattered, and then the research commenced anew.
This cycle repeated.
Perhaps because of the rapid succession of his methods, at least in Purple Emperor’s view, it truly wasn’t long before the thirty-six painstakingly created Evil Spirits were exhausted.
Initially, Purple Emperor thought the Abyss Lord would temporarily set aside this approach.
After all, the consumption was not small.
But such setbacks were nothing to the Abyss Lord.
Seemingly nonchalant, he created another batch of Evil Spirits to command.
According to the Abyss Lord, these Evil Spirits were indeed the limit of his control, but because they were completely under control, recreating them was relatively simple – at least for him, very simple and easy!
He experimented over and over, while the Evil Spirits from The Other Side of the Abyss continued to surge out wave after wave, using the breath of Anping Continent that Purple Emperor brought as a catalyst, recklessly using their lives to blast through the narrow passage from the Abyss to the surface.
Yet this extreme method proved effective. At least on the side of The Other Side of the Abyss, the start of the offensive, a few hundred meters wide worn opening had appeared.
This passage extended directly upwards, its depth already unfathomable, and only began to narrow after reaching thousands of feet.
Just think, these near-invisible Evil Spirits were able to batter the seal between heaven and earth into this state, one can imagine the amount of time passed and the number of lives sacrificed.
Or perhaps, it was an immense number that could never be fully calculated!
It’s unknown whether it was due to the numerous techniques and secrets given by Purple Emperor that made the Abyss Lord’s mind especially active, still finding time amidst his busy schedule to throw a jade slip at Purple Emperor, bluntly stating that it contained a technique for soul recovery.
Purple Emperor was overjoyed.
He thus began his research.
On the side.
Sensing Purple Emperor’s earnest study, a faint wisp of smoke exploded from the Abyss Lord’s eyes.
Then he turned his head and continued his tireless research, focusing on how to control the rebellion of the Evil Spirits.
He believed, with the techniques provided by Purple Emperor, he would eventually succeed.
