Chapter 62: Is this... the true peak? - (3)

It was chaos.

Blades of pure energy sliced through the air.

Chains forged from cosmic law sought to bind Echo in place.

Flames that could incinerate entire planets roared toward him.

Any other being would have been annihilated instantly.

But Echo?

He raised a single hand

And cut through it all.

With a flick of his fingers, he dispersed their attacks like they were nothing.

Like they were mere illusions.

The sages stopped.

This wasn’t just power.

This wasn’t just strength.

This was something else entirely.

Something beyond the realm of their comprehension.

And as they stood there, facing a man who should have been nothing more than an ant—

They realized the truth.

They had made a mistake.

Echo took a deep breath, allowing the energy inside him to settle.

The battle was over before it had even truly begun.

The sages, once so confident in their superiority, now stood frozen.

Uncertain.

Afraid.

Echo smiled.

He had spent his whole life fighting against fate.

Against limits. Against the chains placed on him by the universe.

Now?

He was free.

And nothing in this world

Or any other

Would ever hold him down again.

---

The air was thick with tension.

Echo stood in the middle of a ruined courtyard, his cloak tattered, his breath slow and controlled.

The remnants of battle still crackled in the air scorch marks from divine lightning, fractured space where reality itself had been torn apart by the sages’ overwhelming power.

He had survived.

But that wasn’t enough.

"They’re coming."

Echo turned his gaze to the horizon, where a golden radiance began to form.

The Elders.

Figures of incomprehensible might, each one a pillar of the Higher Realm.

And now?

They were coming for him.

From the golden light, a voice boomed.

"Echo, you have become an anomaly."

It was the Supreme Elder, a being so powerful that his presence alone could bend time and space.

"This power you wield should not exist."

Another voice joined.

"If you surrender now, we will grant you a swift end."

Echo chuckled.

Surrender?

That wasn’t even an option.

He took a step forward, the ground beneath his feet cracking under the weight of his energy.

"I don’t remember asking for your approval," he said.

"If you want me gone... come and do it yourselves."

The Elders didn’t hesitate.

A dozen figures moved at once, each faster than light itself.

Their weapons glowed with celestial energy, their techniques honed over tens of thousands of years.

They weren’t going to hold back.

Neither would he.

Echo didn’t dodge.

He met them head-on.

The first elder swung a blade infused with the law of destruction.

Echo caught it with his bare hands.

CRACK!

The blade shattered like brittle glass.

Before the elder could react, Echo drove his fist into his chest, sending him crashing into the distant mountains.

A second elder appeared behind him, summoning chains that could bind the very fabric of reality.

They wrapped around Echo

Only to disintegrate the moment they touched his skin.

His power was rejecting everything.

A wave of golden fire came next, capable of erasing entire worlds.

Echo stepped through it untouched.

The expressions of the Elders changed.

They had seen countless battles.

But never something like this.

An elder attempted to retreat, realizing the extent of the danger.

Too late.

Echo appeared before him, faster than his mind could process.

A single strike—

And the elder’s existence was erased.

The remaining sages froze.

For thousands of years, the Elders of the Higher Realm had been invincible.

Untouchable. Eternal.

Yet now, one of them had fallen.

And the one who had done it?

Didn’t even look tired.

Echo rolled his shoulders.

He could feel it now

The shift in power.

Before, they had seen him as a target.

Now?

They were realizing the truth.

they were trapped here with him.

"Run," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

It wasn’t a threat.

It was a promise.

Because from this moment on...

---

The Higher Realm had never seen anything like this before.

For eons, the Elders had ruled unchallenged.

They were the apex, the final arbiters of existence itself.

And yet...

For the first time, one of them trembled.

A figure emerged from the golden void above.

An Elder unlike the others.

He was not merely a ruler of this realm he was one of the First Sages, a being whose mere presence could erase entire dimensions.

His robes were woven from the threads of time itself.

His eyes, deep and infinite, reflected the rise and fall of civilizations long forgotten.

His name was Oros.

And he had come to end Echo.

The battlefield shifted the moment he arrived.

The air grew heavy.

Reality twisted at the seams.

Even the lesser Elders took a step back.

This was not a battle they could interfere in.

This was beyond them.

Oros floated above Echo, gazing down as though observing an insignificant insect.

"This is your final chance," Oros said. His voice carried not as sound, but as absolute law.

"Surrender, and I shall grant you the mercy of a painless end."

Echo looked up.

He saw the unfathomable power coiling around the sage.

The ability to collapse entire universes with a flick of his wrist.

And yet...

He smirked.

"You’re shaking."

Oros’ eyes narrowed.

Impossible.

A being of his stature, one who had gazed upon the birth and death of countless worlds, could not feel fear.

And yet, the tremble in his fingertips told a different story.

Something was wrong.

Something was very wrong.

This power that Echo wielded...

It shouldn’t exist.

It couldn’t exist.

And yet, here it was.

Echo’s muscles tensed.

He clenched his fist.

Then

He swung.

BOOM!

The very fabric of reality shattered around them.

Not distorted.

Not torn.

But completely obliterated.

The entire battlefield was swallowed in an explosion of raw force, an impact so devastating that even the celestial sky above cracked like fragile glass.

Oros barely had time to react.

His body blurred as he attempted to teleport away, but

CRACK!

Echo’s fist connected.

Oros was sent hurtling through the sky at impossible speeds, his form breaking through multiple layers of existence.

Space itself screamed in protest.

The land beneath them, once pristine and untouched by mortal hands, was left scarred beyond recognition.

The Elders, watching from a distance, were speechless.

That strike...

It should have been impossible.

And yet, Oros had bled.

Far in the distance, Oros’ form flickered back into existence.

A deep gash ran across his chest, golden ichor dripping from the wound.

His eyes, once calm and emotionless, now burned with fury.

For the first time in his existence, he had been wounded.

"You dare..."

His voice no longer carried the weight of a composed deity.

Now, it was something else.

Wrath.

Pure, unfiltered wrath.

"You dare raise your hand against a Sage of Eternity?"

The sky above turned dark.

Celestial storms formed instantly, and divine energy surged like a tidal wave.

Oros raised his hand, and the entire realm quaked.

This was no mere retaliation.

This was erasure.

A punishment meant for those who should never have existed.
