Awakening Domination System: But I'm a Slave?
Chapter 62: Going Out With Her?

Chapter 62: Going Out With Her?

The next day came quietly.

Alaric opened his eyes to the pale light slipping through the window and let out a low breath.

The cottage was still, the world outside not yet fully awake.

He sat up, rolled his shoulders, then pushed himself off the bed.

And began doing simple stretches, such as neck rolls, toe touches, arms behind his back.

Then he dropped down and began his routine.

By the time he was done, a thin layer of sweat clung to his back.

He exhaled and sat on the floor, catching his breath.

He looked at his system screen and gave a faint nod.

"Good."

With that, he closed the window and headed toward the small washroom.

The water was cold, but it woke him up better than anything else. He washed quickly, dried off, and stepped back into his room.

There, folded neatly on the edge of the table, was the set of clothes Selene had left for him yesterday. A slightly finer tunic, darker in color, with subtle silver threading along the cuffs. The fabric was smooth, well-made but not flashy.

He paused, then quietly pulled them on.

They fit him surprisingly well.

Then he threw a black cloak over his shoulders, fastening it at the collar. The fabric was light but layered and pulled the hood up. It settled around his face like a curtain, casting his features in shadow.

He didn’t know why, but Selene had asked him specifically to wear it today, to keep his face, his identity, hidden for now.

He didn’t question it.

"There’s always something with that woman," he muttered under his breath.

With a last glance at the mirror, he turned and stepped out of the room.

Sari was already by the door, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed. She wore a similar cloak own though hers was cut shorter, more suited for movement, the hood resting was halfway down her back. Her foot tapped idly on the floor, like she’d been waiting for a while.

"Took your sweet time, huh?" she muttered, eyeing him.

Alaric gave a casual shrug. "What can I say? Had to make sure the mysterious look works."

That got a soft snort out of her.

Then, without a word, she turned and pushed the door open.

They stepped outside together, the morning air was cool, laced with dew and the faint scent of damp earth. A light fog still clung to the edges of the path.

They walked side by side, hoods drawn, heading toward the meeting point Selene had mentioned.

They stopped near the edge of a quiet square, where the cobblestones turned darker from old water stains and the faint clang of a blacksmith’s hammer echoed from somewhere deeper in the alleyways.

Market stalls stood shuttered, their awnings drawn tight, waiting for the mid-morning rush.

Sari leaned against a worn post, arms folded beneath her cloak. Her gaze swept the street idly, then flicked sideways toward him.

She tilted her head, brows faintly raised. "Tell me something. Am I imagining things, or are you actually getting more handsome by the day?"

Alaric let out a quiet chuckle, his hooded form shifting slightly as he looked at her.

"What, falling for me now?"

Her lips twitched. She scoffed and shook her head, giving him a slow once-over.

"Please. I prefer men who don’t spend half their morning brooding in front of a mirror."

Alaric smirked but said nothing more. He just crossed his arms and leaned back against the wall beside her, letting the silence settle again.

A few minutes passed in silence before the soft clatter of hooves broke through the morning haze.

A modest but well-kept carriage rolled down the cobbled street toward them, its dark oak panels polished to a muted shine, wheels rimmed in silver accents, and the crest of House Glimor engraved subtly above the door.

Sari straightened at once and stepped forward, her cloak swaying lightly with her movements. Without a word, she climbed up and settled beside the coachman, her posture relaxed but alert.

Alaric moved to the door as it opened with a quiet creak. He ducked slightly to step inside and found himself face-to-face with Selene.

She sat gracefully on the upholstered seat, one leg crossed over the other, hands gloved in midnight silk. Her raven-black hair was pinned back loosely, letting a few strands frame her high cheekbones.

Those emerald eyes of hers, sharp, intelligent, and unreadable, lifted to meet his deep Crimson-red as he entered.

She wore a deep green cloak trimmed in silver embroidery, fastened over a high-collared black dress.

Alaric sighed and pulled back his hood and loosened the clasp at his neck, letting the black cloak fall open.

Selene’s gaze lingered on him for a moment, then a soft smile touched her lips. "You look rather striking today."

Alaric got caught off guard by sudden compliment from her, but then returned her look with a faint smile.

"You look quite elegant and beautiful as well, my lady."

Her smile deepened, eyes gleaming with amusement.

Then the carriage gave a gentle lurch as it began to roll forward.
