Chapter 187: Not Happy Sharing A Body
Chapter 187: Not Happy Sharing A Body
Chase POV:
The Grand Hall felt heavy with the echoes of lives forever altered. When Alexander and Leila emerged from the chambers, their quiet conversation caught my attention. Alexander’s deep, resonant voice carried a tone of reverence as he spoke about his encounter with her wolf mother, Lavender.
"She was... incredible," Alexander said, his expression softened with nostalgia. "Fierce and wild, yet gentle. She challenged me to be better and gave me a glimpse of what it meant to truly live. And now, seeing you, Leila, I feel as if she’s given me a second chance."
Leila gave a tentative smile, her fingers brushing against her own as though testing her boundaries with this newfound father. It seemed she was giving him a chance, one small step at a time.
As they neared the grand staircase, Ash’s excited giggle broke the tension. He darted toward Leila with his arms wide open. "Mama!" he exclaimed, his little legs carrying him as fast as they could.
Leila scooped him into her arms, pressing her cheek against his head. "I’m here, baby."
Ash turned his wide, curious eyes toward Alexander, who stood by, unsure of how to approach. "Mama, who’s that?"
Leila shifted Ash slightly and smiled softly. "Ash, this is Alexander Black—your grandfather."
Ash’s eyes widened. "Grandfather? Like in the stories?"
Alexander chuckled, kneeling to Ash’s level. "Just like in the stories, little one. Except I’m real, and I promise to tell you even better stories than those you’ve heard."
Ash wriggled out of Leila’s arms and ran to Alexander, who caught him with surprising ease. Ash immediately began peppering him with questions. "Are you strong like Uncle Damon? Can you run really fast? What’s your favorite color? Can you teach me how to fight bad guys?"
Alexander’s booming laughter filled the hall as he responded to each question with good humor. The sight warmed my heart, but my focus remained on Leila. She watched them with a mix of amusement and cautious optimism, her expression softening in a way that made my chest tighten.
I approached her and took her hand, my fingers threading through hers instinctively. "Come with me," I said gently, leading her away.
We slipped into a private room nearby, and as soon as the door clicked shut, I pulled her into my arms. The weight of the past few days—the anguish, the fear, the soul-crushing grief—hit me all at once. She was here. She was alive.
I held her tightly, my face buried in her hair. She wasn’t warm like she used to be; her body was cooler now, her heartbeat silent. But none of that mattered. She was alive, and I had her back.
"Chase, I’m back," she said softly, a chuckle escaping her lips when I still didn’t let go.
"I almost went rogue when I lost you," I admitted, my voice thick with emotion.
Her arms tightened around me as she rubbed soothing circles on my back. "Don’t you dare," she murmured, her tone firm yet tender. She pulled back just enough to take my face in her hands, forcing me to meet her gaze. "Never, and I mean never, lose yourself because of me. Promise me."
Her crimson eyes bored into mine, filled with a vulnerability that made my chest ache. I swallowed hard and nodded. "I promise."
The moment the words, "I promise," left my lips, her hands moved to the back of my neck, pulling me in for a kiss. The kiss wasn’t soft or tentative; it was filled with raw emotion—a blend of relief, desperation, and something deeper that neither of us could put into words. Every ounce of what I felt, all the fear I had held, the dread of losing her, the undeniable pull between us, I poured into that kiss. She matched my fervor, her lips demanding, her fingers threading through my hair as if anchoring me to her.
When the kiss broke, her breathing was ragged, her chest rising and falling rapidly against mine. Her eyes glowed a deep, burning red, and her fangs were fully extended, glinting in the dim light of the room. I knew exactly what she wanted—what she needed—and I wasn’t going to deny her. Not now. Not ever.
Sliding my hands down her thighs, I lifted her effortlessly, her legs instinctively wrapping around my waist. Her warmth pressed against me, setting every nerve in my body on fire. Her back met the wall with a soft thud as I pressed her against it, holding her firmly in place. My lips found her jawline, trailing kisses down to the sensitive skin of her neck.
"I know what you need," I murmured against her skin, my voice rough and low. "Don’t fight it. Drink."
I tilted my head to the side, exposing my neck to her, silently offering myself. Her breath hitched, her lips brushing against my skin as if testing her control. But when her fangs grazed me, I knew she was done resisting. A soft whimper escaped her as she bit down, her fangs piercing my flesh.
The sharp sting was quickly replaced by a flood of heat, a sensation so heady and intoxicating that it nearly made my knees buckle. Her saliva mixed with my blood, igniting something primal in both of us. I groaned, pressing harder against her as the aphrodisiac in her bite worked its magic. My body responded instantly, the friction of her hips grinding against me sending sparks shooting down my spine.
Her moans vibrated against my neck as she drank, her legs tightening around me. I could feel her breathe racing in sync with mine, each pull of her lips on my neck driving me closer to the edge. When she finally pulled back, her lips stained red, her eyes met mine—wild and unrestrained.
"My turn," I growled, unable to hold back the primal urge surging through me.
I buried my face in her neck, my teeth grazing her skin as I nibbled and kissed my way to the perfect spot. Her hands clutched at my shoulders, her hips grinding into me with a rhythm that matched the pounding of drum beats. When I bit down, she cried out, the sound a mix of pain and pleasure that sent a thrill through me. Her blood was sweet, rich, and electric on my tongue, and every pull deepened the connection between us.
Her body moved against mine, desperate and wanton, as I drank from her. My hands gripped her thighs, holding her close as I ground against her, the friction between us pushing us both toward madness. The sounds she made—soft whimpers and breathy moans—were enough to drive me wild. Her hands tangled in my hair, her nails scraping against my scalp as she pressed me closer.
The line between pain and pleasure blurred, the intensity of the moment consuming us both. I pulled back from her neck, licking the small wounds I’d left behind, and she shivered against me. Her hips continued to move, the heat between us building to an almost unbearable level.
"Leila," I breathed, my forehead resting against hers as I fought to catch my breath. My hands slid to her hips, guiding her movements as we chased the edge together. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips parted, and her eyes burned with the same need that coursed through my veins.
We moved together in perfect rhythm, the friction building, the heat spiraling higher and higher until it finally erupted. A low groan tore from my throat as I came undone, the release hitting me with a force that left me trembling. She followed moments later, her body shaking against mine as her cries filled the room.
As the intensity ebbed, I rested my forehead against hers, our breaths mingling as we came down from the high. The world around us seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of us in the quiet aftermath of what we’d just shared.
Her hands cupped my face, her touch soft and grounding. "You okay?" she whispered, her voice still shaky.
I let out a soft chuckle, pressing a kiss to her temple. "Better than okay," I replied, my voice low and rough. "You?"
She nodded, her lips curving into a small smile. "Same."
We stayed there for a moment longer, wrapped in the warmth of each other, the bond between us stronger than ever. Whatever challenges lay ahead, I knew we’d face them together.
Because this—us—was unbreakable.
We clung to each other as our desires burned out, leaving us both trembling and sated. My forehead rested against hers, our breaths mingling in the quiet aftermath.
And then I heard it—a faint, almost imperceptible heartbeat.
I froze, my eyes snapping to hers. Her crimson gaze flickered, and I saw the faintest hint of yellow mingling with the red. Her pupils dilated, and her lips parted as she took a sharp breath.
"My wolf is back," she whispered, her voice laced with a mix of relief and trepidation. Her eyes closed briefly, and when she opened them again, they were a brilliant mix of red and gold. "And she’s not happy about sharing a body with a newly awakened vampire."
Her words hung in the air like a storm cloud, the tension between us thick enough to cut. I tightened my grip on her, my instincts screaming to protect her from whatever inner battle was brewing.
But I could already feel it—the shifting energy within her, the clash of two powerful beings fighting for dominance. And I knew this was only the beginning.
But just like I a vampire is mated to a wolf I came to love and appreciate they two would learn to coexist with each other. Like we- Leila and me have done.
