Chapter 167: My Vampire Needs Me
Chapter 167: My Vampire Needs Me
Leila’s POV:
The hallway was dimly lit, the flickering sconces casting warm shadows across the stone walls. I had been trying to lift Chase’s spirits with a story about something ridiculous Ash had done earlier, hoping to coax a smile or even a chuckle from him. But his focus seemed far away, his usually calm demeanor strained.
Something was wrong.
His fists were clenched at his sides, his breathing shallow and uneven. His crimson eyes glowed faintly in the low light, and his fangs, sharp and predatory, were visible now. I’d never seen him like this before, and a strange mix of concern and fear tugged at me.
"Chase?" I called softly, stepping closer, my heart pounding. "Are you okay?"
"I’m fine," he replied, his voice tight, though I could tell he was anything but. His gaze flicked to mine, and I caught a glimpse of the turmoil swirling in his eyes—hunger, pain, guilt. It hit me like a wave.
I should have walked away. I knew I wasn’t safe. But something deeper held me there, a pull I couldn’t explain.
When he turned to leave abruptly, I couldn’t stop myself from following. "Wait!" I called after him. "What’s wrong? Are you sick?"
He froze, his back rigid as he spun to face me. The sight of him stopped me in my tracks. His fangs were fully extended, his crimson eyes glowing fiercely in the darkness.
"Leila," he growled, his voice a low warning. "Go back. Please."
But I couldn’t. Not when he looked like this. Not when he was clearly in pain.
I took another cautious step forward, ignoring the logical part of me screaming to run. Instead, I focused on him—the sharp rise and fall of his chest, the tension in his shoulders, the way his body pressed against the wall as though trying to contain itself.
"Does it hurt?" I asked softly, my gaze searching his.
His nod was almost imperceptible, but it was there, the truth breaking through his struggle to keep me at a distance.
My chest ached for him. He had always been so patient, so careful with me, even when I pushed him away. And now, here he was, suffering—holding back for my sake.
He cared.
I reached out, my fingers trembling slightly as they brushed against his cheek. His skin was warm under my touch, a stark contrast to the coolness of the stone wall behind him. The tension in his jaw eased ever so slightly as he leaned into my palm, a reluctant surrender.
"I’m not leaving," I said firmly, my voice steadier than I expected.
His eyes searched mine, a storm of emotions warring within him. Fear. Hunger. Guilt. And something deeper—something raw and unspoken.
Before I could think it through, my lips met his in a kiss that was both impulsive and inevitable. His response was instant, a low growl rumbling in his chest as his hands found my thighs, lifting me effortlessly.
Everything blurred—the hallway, the walls, the faint hum of the sconces. All I could feel was him—his warmth, his strength, the way his kiss consumed me entirely.
Somehow, we made it to his chamber. The door slammed shut behind us, and my back hit the cool wood with a soft thud. I could feel his restraint fraying with every passing second, his body trembling with the effort to hold back.
"This is where you tell me to stop," he murmured, his forehead resting against mine, his breath hot against my lips.
I shook my head, my fingers tangling in his hair as I pulled him closer. "Don’t stop," I whispered, my voice barely audible but filled with certainty.
His lips crashed into mine again, a kiss that was fierce and desperate, leaving no room for hesitation. My hands clung to him, my body arching instinctively into his as the heat between us grew.
When his lips left mine and trailed down to my neck, I froze, anticipation and uncertainty mingling in my chest. His breath fanned against my skin as he paused, his voice a rough whisper.
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes," I replied without hesitation, my voice steady.
"May I... drink from you?" he asked, the words tumbling out in a rush.
My heart raced, but I nodded. "Yes," I said softly, my hand cupping his cheek.
His lips pressed a reverent kiss to my neck, and I felt the sharp pinch as his fangs pierced my skin. The sensation was startling but not painful, a strange mix of heat and pressure that quickly gave way to something else—something unexpected.
A wave of euphoria swept over me, every nerve ending alight as a deep connection bloomed between us. My body responded instinctively, arching against him as his arms tightened around me.
I could feel him drinking, his hunger palpable but controlled, every movement deliberate. And yet, it wasn’t just about feeding—it was something far more intimate, a bond forming with each drop of blood he took.
When he finally pulled back, his tongue swiping over the puncture wounds to close them, I felt... whole. Like a part of me I hadn’t realized was missing had just clicked into place.
"Does it always feel like this?" I asked breathlessly, my gaze locking with his.
"I’ve never felt anything like this," he admitted, his voice thick with emotion. "You’re... everything."
His words wrapped around my heart, and I couldn’t stop the smile that spread across my lips as I pulled him into another kiss.
In that moment, there was no fear, no hesitation—only him, only us.
Every brush of his lips against mine sent shivers coursing through my body, awakening something primal and raw inside me. I was acutely aware of the way his hands tangled in my hair, pulling me closer, his kiss consuming me entirely. My pulse raced, matching the fiery intensity he ignited within me.
The way he whispered against my lips, "You have no idea what you’re doing to me," sent a thrill down my spine. His voice, rough and laced with need, made my heart pound even faster. I searched his eyes, and what I found there mirrored the storm of emotions swirling inside me—desire, love, hunger.
I couldn’t find the words to respond. Instead, I slid my hands behind his neck, pulling him down into another kiss, deep and deliberate, as if this was the only way I could express the chaos of emotions threatening to overwhelm me. His lips, warm and insistent, felt like the only anchor holding me steady in the whirlwind of sensations.
When the knock came, it felt like the world itself had shattered. My eyes flew open, and I stilled, my hands stilling against his skin. "Did you hear that?" I whispered, my voice trembling with a mix of surprise and frustration.
Chase’s jaw tightened as he nodded, a flicker of irritation crossing his features. For a moment, I thought he would pull away, but his gaze returned to mine, fierce and unwavering. "I don’t care," he muttered, his voice low and resolute. "They’ll just have to wait."
His words, paired with the intensity of his gaze, sent a fresh wave of heat rushing through me. My lips curved into a soft smile as I slid my hands back to his neck, closing the distance between us once more. The kiss was slower this time, but no less consuming. It was as if we were reclaiming the moment stolen from us.
When he guided me back onto the bed, my breath hitched. His touch was reverent, his hands warm and sure as they trailed over my waist. Every inch of my skin he touched felt like it was set aflame, my senses heightened to the point where nothing else existed but him.
As his lips moved to my neck, a soft gasp escaped me. His teeth grazed my skin, igniting a fire deep within me that made my body arch instinctively toward him. I could feel his breath, hot against my neck, as he murmured, "You’re perfect."
His words wrapped around my heart, making it race even faster. I closed my eyes, letting the sensations wash over me. The way he touched me, the way he looked at me—it was as if he wanted to memorize every detail, every reaction, as if I were the most precious thing in the world.
When his hands found the hem of my shirt, I didn’t hesitate. I lifted my arms, allowing him to strip it away, leaving me bare beneath his gaze. The way his eyes roamed over me, filled with awe and adoration, made me feel beautiful in a way I’d never known before.
Every kiss, every touch, was deliberate, as if he wanted to savor every second. His hands were warm against my skin, tracing patterns that left me trembling beneath him. The heat between us was unbearable, building with every moment, every whispered word, every soft gasp.
When his mouth found the sensitive skin of my thigh, my breath caught in my throat. My hands tangled in his hair as his lips moved closer to where I ached for him the most. My body reacted instinctively, my hips lifting toward him, seeking the pleasure only he could give me.
"Chase..." I whispered, my voice a mix of desperation and anticipation. I could feel the smile against my skin as he continued his slow, deliberate movements, driving me to the brink.
And then, the world shattered around me. My body trembled as I called his name, my release crashing over me like a tidal wave. My fingers tightened in his hair, grounding me as I felt myself unravel beneath his touch. It was raw, unfiltered, and completely consuming.
As I lay there, chest heaving, I felt him kiss his way back up my body. His lips were soft against my skin, his touch grounding me, bringing me back to the present. When he finally hovered over me, his eyes locked onto mine, I felt a connection deeper than anything I’d ever known.
"You’re incredible," he murmured, his voice filled with emotion. His words, paired with the tenderness in his gaze, made my heart swell. I reached for him, pulling him down into another kiss, tasting the remnants of myself on his lips. It was intimate, raw, and so achingly beautiful that tears pricked the corners of my eyes.
I held him close, my body still trembling from the intensity of what we’d shared. The world outside the room had ceased to exist, leaving only us—two souls lost in the depth of each other.
