Chapter 657: Chapter 656 Dark Purple Quality [Ivory Pendant +4]
"Now I can only hope that the Third Tier Prize Pool of the Demonized Swamp Lucky Slot Machine is substantial enough. I need to acquire a lot of equipment from there, or, to put it another way, any equipment that hasn’t reached its fusion limit is something I need to obtain from there."
Facing this situation made Zhang Yanhang even more eager to find out when exactly the Third Tier Prize Pool of the Demonized Swamp Lucky Slot Machine was refreshed.
"So, my choices are ’Prehistoric Giant Beast Talent,’ ’800 Soul points,’ ’800 Soul points,’ ’800 Soul points,’ and ’Ivory Pendant.’"
After reviewing the five item slots from the Drop treasure box of the Demonized Mammoth, Zhang Yanhang quickly made his choice. The Time Pause also disappeared accordingly, but Zhang Yanhang’s hand, out of reflex, reached for another Treasure box.
Although there were only thirty Drop treasure boxes to open and he could have been a bit slower, Zhang Yanhang’s hands had become accustomed to the lengthy process of opening treasure boxes and couldn’t stop. So, the Time Pause descended upon the Demonized Swamp once again very soon.
...
October 27th, Tuesday, the day after the Double Ninth Festival and also the third day since Zhang Yanhang entered the Ashen World, 10:17 PM, Demonized Swamp, Swamp Area, Demonized Mammoth habitat.
Since there were only thirty Drop treasure boxes in total, it took Zhang Yanhang less than two minutes to open them all. After finishing, he immediately began to check his Soul points balance.
[Soul Points: 218933 (+72000)]
"Thirty Drop treasure boxes yielded a total of seventy-two thousand Soul points, increasing my balance from the original 146933 to 218933, which still isn’t a lot, but at least it’s finally enough to upgrade a Skill Level.
But even so, upgrading skills is definitely not happening, and upgrades should wait until after my promotion in Rank.
The previous income from kills was 16000 Soul points, while the treasure box income was 72000 Soul points, making a total of 88000 Soul points. I initially thought this time’s income might be in the six digits, but it turns out to be 12000 Soul points shy of that.
Although compared to last time it might not seem like much, last time I cleared both the Western Forest and the lake area, so an income of eighty-eight thousand Soul points is actually quite good, especially since this is just from two hundred Demonized Mammoths.
If this portion of Soul points income were converted to Raccoon City, it would take killing eighty-eight thousand Zombies to achieve, and even accounting for treasure box income, at least thirty or forty thousand Ordinary zombies.
Although the Soul points income from Ordinary zombies is indeed quite low at just one point each, if I convert the income from these two hundred Demonized Mammoths into that of Demonized Swamp’s Demonized Maned Tooth Beasts.
In total, including both killing and treasure box income, it would take slaying four thousand Demonized Maned Tooth Beasts to gain this level of Soul points income—a twenty-fold difference between the two."
"Even if it were converted to the Demonized Dogtooth Giant Apes, that would require three thousand five hundred of them to gain that many soul points, which is essentially most of the Demonized Swamp’s quota," he said.
Because there was no further room for Level advancement, after checking his balance of soul points, Zhang Yanhang quickly began to tally the various items he had obtained from the drop treasure boxes.
First was the Artifact revenue, which was nothing, then the Weapon revenue, nothing again, and then there was the Talent revenue, which wasn’t nothing, although the amount was indeed small. However, having something was still better than nothing, and this time he had reacquired thirty D-rank Talents, "Prehistoric Giant Beast."
Zhang Yanhang previously had a total of five hundred and ninety-one Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents, and with the thirty more he had just acquired, he now had a total of six hundred and twenty-one Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents. He was getting closer and closer to upgrading his SS-rank Talent "Ocean Rhythm" to SSS-rank.
"To upgrade SS-rank Talent ’Ocean Rhythm’ to SSS-rank Quality, a total of seven hundred and twenty-nine Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents are needed, and after deducting the six hundred and twenty-one I have, there is a shortfall of one hundred and eight Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents.
Although one hundred and eight Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents wouldn’t have seemed like much in the past, I really can’t gather that amount now, especially since there are only eight monsters left in the Swamp Area, not to mention anything else."
However, Zhang Yanhang figured that he could probably make up a few more Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents later on from the third prize pool of the Demonized Swamp Lucky Slot Machine. He didn’t dare say how many he could gather, but at least reducing the shortfall from three digits to two digits shouldn’t be too much trouble.
After all, the third prize pool refreshed with a hundred monsters each time, even if all of them were calculated at the lowest drop rate of one treasure box for every twenty monsters, that would still yield at least five Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents.
So, reducing it to two digits shouldn’t be too difficult, and it also helps lower the difficulty for gathering enough Prehistoric Giant Beast Talents next time he enters Ashen World to upgrade the Rhythm Talent to SSS-rank.
After tallying the Talent revenue, Zhang Yanhang quickly packed the thirty dark green small light balls into his Waist Bag and immediately began to tally the last but most important type of revenue, Equipment.
The Equipment revenue was limited this time since Zhang Yanhang had only killed two hundred Demonized Mammoths, and as he hadn’t killed any other type of demonized creatures, he managed to obtain only thirty Purple Quality Ivory Pendants.
With no other equipment involved, Zhang Yanhang immediately started the Alchemy process by throwing all thirty Ivory Pendants into the Alchemy Array. Thirty was a number he could handle, so he managed to fuse thirty Ivory Pendants into fifteen Ivory Pendants +1 in a single batch.
Then, he continued to fuse the Ivory Pendants +2, which also only took one batch. However, after the fusion was completed, he had seven Ivory Pendants +2 and one extra Ivory Pendants +1 left. After that, Zhang Yanhang used two more batches to successively fuse Ivory Pendants +3 and Ivory Pendants +4.
In the end, Zhang Yanhang had fused one Ivory Pendant +4, one Ivory Pendant +3, one Ivory Pendant +2, and one Ivory Pendant +1, just one Ivory Pendant +1 short of fusing an Ivory Pendant +5. Unfortunately, these two Ivory Pendants would have to wait until later to be acquired.
Looking at the Ivory Pendant +4 in front of him, which was flickering with a dark purple glow, Zhang Yanhang immediately began checking its attribute list.
[Ivory Pendant +4]
[Quality: Dark Purple]
[Type: Equipment]
[Origin: Ashen World, High Elf Empire, Supreme Forest, Elf Court Avando.]
[Durability: 65/65]
[Defensive Power: 48]
[Additional Attributes: Attack Speed +18% (+8%).]
[Usage Requirements: Agility 40 points.]
[Score: 240 (Dark Purple Quality Items score from 151 to 260.)]
[Introduction: My name is Azikasa Baofeng Saint Silvado, a seemingly ordinary war hero who, upon closer inspection, turns out to be not so ordinary after all. It’s me, not quite sure whether I am ordinary or not, who now, without any psychological burden, is drawing a special retirement pension and leading a dull retired life...]
"How should I put it, it’s not at all surprising that after fusing to +4, the growth of the attributes of the Ivory Pendant is just like the Emperor Crocodile Belt.
After the fusion of the Ivory Pendant to +4, its equipment score increased from the original 120 points to 240 points, a total increase of one hundred and twenty points in score, with four fusions altogether, yielding an average increase of thirty points per fusion, just like the Emperor Crocodile Belt experienced a thirty point increase per fusion.
After this fusion, the Ivory Pendant directly went from a high scored purple quality equipment to a high scored dark purple quality equipment, but regrettably, I still prefer light golden equipment. Thankfully, the two incomplete Ivory Pendants should be able to be collected before leaving the Ashen World, so there’s no big problem."
After checking the equipment score, Zhang Yanhang went on to check the equally important usage requirements and found that the requirement had increased from the original thirty points of Agility to forty, just an additional ten points of Agility, basically similar to the situation with the Emperor Crocodile Belt.
After advancing to light golden quality, the Emperor Crocodile Belt increased the usage requirement for its Agility attribute by twenty points, averaging ten points per quality increase for each rank.
However, compared to the equipment score and usage requirements, the most important for Zhang Yanhang was still the increase in the additional attributes provided by the +4 Ivory Pendant.
"This time, after the fusion to +4 of dark purple quality, the additional attribute bonus of the Ivory Pendant increased from originally providing a 10% attack speed bonus to providing an 18% attack speed bonus, an additional increase of 8% attack speed bonus.
This 8% attack speed bonus, divided over four fusions, means that each fusion approximately provided a 2% attack speed bonus, being the same as the Emperor Crocodile Belt, alas, I have to say that the skills of that High Elf Apprentice are incredibly stable, indeed suited for assembly line work."
Zhang Yanhang speculated that if the High Elf Apprentice were to work on an assembly line, he could ensure that each product was without any difference.
After checking the attribute list of the +4 dark purple quality Ivory Pendant, Zhang Yanhang briefly observed its appearance.
Owing to the traditional misleading naming style, the Ivory Pendant is more of a belt buckle than a pendant; it is a simple white belt buckle carved from ivory in the shape of a mammoth.
So, Zhang Yanhang quickly buckled it onto his own Emperor Crocodile Belt, and, unsurprisingly, it equipped successfully.
"Since it has the same attributes as the Emperor Crocodile Belt, and their constructions are so compatible, why didn’t that High Elf Apprentice just go ahead and make a set? That would have been nice; I could have gotten a boost to my additional attributes.
But then again, it’s very possible that the High Elf Apprentice hasn’t learned the sophisticated skill of forging sets, so he simply couldn’t create them."
Zhang Yanhang really couldn’t resist the urge to complain about the Emperor Crocodile Belt and Ivory Pendant which seemed like sets but were actually not at all.
"But fortunately, it’s not really a big problem if they’re not a set. Being able to obtain the bonus from the additional attributes is already pretty good."
Now, with the 18% attack speed bonus provided by the +4 Ivory Pendant, the firing rate of his Six Roots Pure Soul Gun Cannon Bullet will directly increase by 18 rounds per second, going from firing 179 rounds per second to firing 197 rounds per second.
Furthermore, as the firing rate of the machine gun bullets increased, the time it took for him to empty the magazine of the Six Roots Pure Soul Gun also further decreased, going from the original 2.8 seconds down to 2.5 seconds, a decrease of 0.3 seconds.
Though 2.5 seconds to empty a magazine was already quite good, it was still 0.5 seconds away from the small goal Zhang Yanhang had previously set to get the magazine emptying time under two seconds, requiring him to continue to gain a significant boost in attack speed to achieve this little goal.
However, while Zhang Yanhang had set this small goal last time, he didn’t actually plan to complete it within the Second Tier.
After all, it took him so long to get down to three seconds, so logically speaking, it should also take a fair amount of time to press it down to two seconds, and it’s definitely something that would be completed after advancing to the Third Tier, so he wasn’t in a hurry about this improvement.
"But that being said, looking at the situation now, if I could get another piece of equipment that boosts attack speed from the drop treasure box of the Demonized Four-eyed Wild Boar later on, then there’s actually still a bit of hope that I could complete this little goal within the Second Tier.
After all, there will surely be rewards related to attack speed at the end of achievements, which should give a good boost to my attack speed, and also, after upgrading the Ivory Pendant to a +5 of light golden quality, I could get a further increase in attack speed bonus."
Considering this, Zhang Yanhang felt that there was indeed some hope of completing this little goal before promotion to the Third Tier.
However, since the pathways to achieve Zhang Yanhang’s small goals were relatively straightforward at the moment, this small goal of compressing the magazine emptying time to under two seconds might slightly conflict with another one.
