Ashen Dragon -
Chapter 743 - Chapter 743 Chapter 114 Golden Dragon Council_2
Chapter 743: Chapter 114 Golden Dragon Council_2 Chapter 743: Chapter 114 Golden Dragon Council_2 Even Cassius found it hard to imagine such an enormous being; that abyssal giant dragon, over two hundred meters long, was the biggest enemy he had ever encountered and had left a deep impression on him.
Aurora looked up at the massive shinbone too, her expression solemn as she explained, “This is the shinbone of Orlando’s ancestor.”
“It is said that when he died, he wrapped his dragon wings around the entire mountain to protect the creatures here from the falling meteors.”
However, she soon scratched her head somewhat embarrassedly and said, “I almost forgot, you are an Ancient Gold Dragon, your knowledge must be far more extensive than a young dragon from Dragon Abyss like me.”
Cassius shook his head softly and said, “It’s okay, I didn’t grow up on this Material Plane.”
Then, he looked down and saw in the center of this space, a stone table hundreds of meters long and sixty meters wide, with giant chairs on both sides suitable for the coiling bodies of golden dragons, in different sizes.
The main seat at the end of the table was the largest, with exquisite dragon patterns carved on it and the dragon eyes inlaid with bright, clear agates and gemstones, giving it a particularly luxurious appearance.
On those chairs, golden dragons of different sizes had already appeared, most of them adult dragons, with some young, middle-aged, and old dragons, while the even more ancient golden dragons had mostly yet to take their seats.
The golden dragons observed with curiosity the two dragons that had just entered the Hall of Justice, with some younger golden dragons starting to whisper among themselves.
“Is this the Ancient Gold Dragon from another plane?”
“Is he the legendary ‘Dragon of Dawn’?”
Aurora whispered a reminder, “Your Majesty Cassius, your seat is in the third row at the end of the long table, only venerable ancient dragons may sit there; I’m afraid I can’t accompany you further.”
“Alright.”
Cassius nodded lightly, striding indifferently towards his place.
Even now, with over eighty golden dragons in the hall, he had never seen so many golden dragons gathered together in his life.
But Cassius was not flustered, his extraordinary charisma made most of the golden dragons naturally trust and even willingly submit to him.
And as a True Dragon Sorcerer, the “Incarnate Ancient Dragon” was a true transformation in essence, and he had no worries of being seen through by the adept casting golden dragons.
Even if an all-knowing Ancient Golden Dragon saw through his impersonation, at worst he would lose just an incarnation, to him it was no big deal.
If he could infiltrate the Golden Dragon Council, the information he could obtain would be vast, almost equivalent to having a grasp of the movements of the entire Good Alignment.
Cassius walked leisurely to his place, along the way the golden dragons bowed their heads and nodded as a greeting to this unfamiliar elder.
And Cassius gladly accepted, thoroughly enjoying the role of the senior.
“Good day, Lord Titus.”
“You must be the one known as the Wings of Dawn, I’ve long heard of you…”
“Respected Dragon of Dawn, your strength and goodness have already spread across Fianso, earning our utmost admiration…”
“Lord Titus, we meet for the first time, I have long admired you. The story of how you killed the Favored Gush and defended Aivendel single-handedly has my blood boiling. I am Angel, a young gold dragon from the Elliot Family…”
A young gold dragon with only six whiskers and a somewhat immature face came forward, bowed his head and greeted, his face filled with excitement and admiration.
Cassius nodded to him, and a barely detectable flash of surprise quickly passed through his pale gold pupils.
Turning away from the young gold dragon, Cassius’s mouth twitched slightly, thinking to himself that after impersonating for so long, he had finally met the real deal.
The strange feeling in his heart passed in an instant, and Cassius sat down comfortably in the seat symbolizing the status of the “Ancient Gold Dragon,” closed his eyes to rest, and quietly awaited the remaining attendees to arrive.
Soon, the younger and more active golden dragons started whispering again, making noise.
“Look, another Ancient Gold Dragon has arrived!”
“The scales of that elder seem to be carved with runes, almost covering the entire body, quite similar to those on Lord Titus.”
Hearing these discussions, Cassius had already guessed who the visitor was.
Turning his head, he indeed saw that golden figure engraved with mystical runes, none other than the Elder of the Eternal Order Realm–Ancient Gold Dragon Beatrice.
Cassius respectfully nodded in greeting: “It has been a long time, Miss Beatrice.”
Beatrice also responded with a smile: “Good day, Lord Titus, I knew when I had Aurora send for you, with your hatred of evil, you would not miss such a meeting.”
Cassius said: “Then I thank you for having Aurora invite me.”
Soon, under Cassius’s gaze, one by one, powerful golden dragons, famous in the Material Plane, took their seats on both sides of the long table.
And with this opportunity, Cassius also roughly figured out the number of gold dragons in the Material Plane–more precisely, the number of those still actively involved, as those who have been in deep slumber and detached from worldly affairs were not included in the count.
Almost every seat in the Hall of Justice was filled, and after excluding himself, the “disguised Ancient Gold Dragon”, Cassius made a careful count.
There were a total of three Ancient Golden Dragons, five Ancient Gold Dragons, seventeen Very Old Gold Dragons, and twenty-three Old Gold Dragons–this was the high-end strength of the golden dragon clan in the Material Plane.
The thirty or more Adult Gold Dragons and the sixty plus Mature Gold Dragons were the backbone of the clan, shouldering significant responsibilities, with the rest being Young Gold Dragons whose whiskers hadn’t even fully grown.
The only empty place now was the grand seat at one end of the long table, according to the Golden Dragon Council’s system, that “Lord Crassus” mentioned by Aurora was very likely an Ancient Golden Dragon.
“As expected of the self-proclaimed ‘Justice Messenger’ golden dragons, it is indeed a force to be reckoned with.” Cassius couldn’t help but inwardly marvel.
As born leaders among metal dragons, Bahamut’s favorites, indeed the Golden Dragon Clan was powerful, with so many able to be urgently convened and many among them being powerful beings.
If you included the Ancient Golden Dragon who had yet to appear, even if Cassius’s true body came in person, he would find it hard to defeat these gold-glittering fellows.
If the current Dragon Descendant Army of the Empire were to fight against them, they would likely be annihilated to the last man.
“Dong–”
The sonorous bell tolled, echoing in the enclosed space, causing all the golden dragons present to feel a tremor in their hearts.
Even the lively Young Gold Dragons quickly sat upright and assumed a solemn posture under their parents’ instructions.
They knew the incumbent Golden Dragon Council’s Governor, the Ancient Golden Dragon standing at the pinnacle of power in the Material Plane–“Gold-plated Sage” Crassus, was about to arrive.
Cassius looked towards the side of the Hall of Justice to see the heavy stone door slowly opening, and a huge golden figure appearing in his view.
–It was an immensely massive gold dragon, nearly forty meters in length, clearly breaking the upper limit of the Golden Dragon Clan, with countless whiskers around his mouth marking the traces bestowed upon him by the long years.
The eyes of this Ancient Golden Dragon were narrow and profound, with pale golden pupils like faded golden pools filled with time’s vicissitudes.
And on its head, the Platinum Crown, and the Scepter in its claw engraved with the milky nebula and the Polar Star, were symbols of a Governor exercising Bahamut’s power, managing the Golden Dragon Clan.
“Good day, Lord Crassus.”
The golden dragons greeted him one after another, with even the proud Ancient Golden Dragons naturally bowing their heads.
Although Cassius also bowed his head, his eyes narrowed slightly, secretly scrutinizing the approaching Ancient Golden Dragon, carefully appraising the power level of this Golden Dragon Governor.
This Ancient Golden Dragon had a size that exceeded the racial limit, and just looking at the dazzling array of expensive magic equipment, it was clear that Crassus was a dragon with ambitions.
[Gold-plated Sage – Crassus]
Challenge Level: 28
“Truly… a powerful fellow.” Cassius’s gaze revealed a hint of interest, if only he were not still in disguise.
