Ashen Dragon -
Chapter 728 - Chapter 728 Chapter 107 Pact of Hell
Chapter 728: Chapter 107: Pact of Hell Chapter 728: Chapter 107: Pact of Hell “The Devils under Piere’s command should be mandated to sign contracts with specific Imperial Citizens, granting the contractee the Power of Hell.”
It was this clause in the “Alliance Treaty between the Empire and the Devil Forces of Piere” that a keen Devil caught a loophole.
This clause seems to require Piere to gratuitously bestow his infernal strength upon Imperial Citizens, but in reality, the room for maneuver is too vast.
It is unknown if it was a mortal oversight, but the “contract” written here contained no special demands or annotations, entirely allowing the devils to exploit it.
And according to the usual Devil Contracts, the party that receives the Power of Hell needs to pay a price–their soul.
The souls of Ashen Empire’s elite warriors, for Piere, this is a valuable treasure. And since giant dragons usually care more about the material and physical rather than the soul, few dragons care where their Retainers’ souls end up.
And the more Imperial Citizens sign contracts with the devils, the more souls Piere earns.
At this thought, the corners of Piere’s mouth turned slightly upwards, and a barely perceptible smile appeared on his clean, deceitful face.
In the end, it’s just the yokels of the Prime Material Plane, not as savvy as us Devils about the essence of contracts, when Piere takes away the souls of Imperial Citizens, the Empire which has already signed the contract can no longer renege.
But agreeing too readily also raises the other party’s suspicions, so Piere carefully perused it several times before saying again.
Piere pointed to those papers full of text, and with a feigned attitude, took out a pair of glasses and pushed them up the bridge of his nose.
“Your Majesty Cassius, by my thousands of years of experience, some terms within the contract still need discussion. See, clauses seventy-six, one hundred and twenty-one, and one hundred thirty-four…”
However, the Red Dragon did not respond, only nodded towards Ramp, and the Ogre hastily took out a communicator.
Suddenly, dozens of players in suits, carrying briefcases, appeared neatly within the Royal Palace, their arrival ominous, clearly well-prepared for this.
The player at the forefront, with thinning hair and dark circles under his eyes, even stepped forward, a courteous smile on his face, extending his right hand to this Great Devil, whom ordinary people would avoid at all costs.
“Hello, Mr. Piere, I am Clouds Light and Breeze Mild, a legal consultant specially hired by the Ashen Empire. I am honored to discuss this with you…”
“This…”
Even the Devil, who had lived for thousands of years and seen the wider world, was momentarily stunned, and his expression became somewhat rigid.
…
After rounds of discussions, the Royal Palace remained noisy. Players took out various documents and argued their cases, and His Majesty Cassius finally began to feel irritated.
“Enough.”
Cassius said impatiently, “I have already stated, until you become Master of Avernus, it is the Empire who leads this cooperation. So spare us from these meaningless debates.
Mr. Piere, you only have two options, agree or refuse, any attempt to reinterpret or distort the contract is pointless.”
Piere sighed, pretending to be disheartened: “Well your Majesty, since this is your demand, I can only agree. After all… I am but a down-and-out from Hell, not yet qualified to bargain with you.”
“Then, let’s sign the contract.”
Cassius looked down from a position of authority, scrutinizing this once Hell Lord with an evaluating gaze.
“Yes, master.”
Ramp waved his Magic Wand, and the contract of hundreds of pages was neatly stacked, with the last page on top which bore the signature [Cassius Klaubow Norixius].
Piere took the contract and took out a black feather pen exuding the essence of Hell from his robes.
“Then…”
The exquisitely crafted [Piere] signature appeared in the blank space of the contract, written in the fiery script of Purgatory.
Instantly, an innate, intangible Power from the Underworld River flowed, linking the two parties of the contract–Cassius and Piere, binding their souls, forming a bond as unshakeable as natural law.
This is the contract of Hell, should any party violate it, they would pay a hefty price, too heavy even for a Great Devil to bear.
Piere lifted his head and locked eyes with the Red Dragon across the distance, then bowed politely.
“Pleasant cooperation, Your Majesty Cassius.”
“Pleasant cooperation.”
Cassius nodded once more in acknowledgment, also fixing his golden vertical pupils on the Devil’s eyes.
Under the Red Dragon’s gaze, Piere conjured Hellfire to form a cloak, with the flashing Hexagram Array, sparks and Ashes surrounded his figure–and that was just one of the Great Devil’s avatars.
The Devil Albert trapped within the goat’s head cried out, “Lord Piere, you haven’t taken me with you yet!”
However, Piere ignored him completely, not even acknowledging him as he gradually faded from the Prime Material Plane.
Ramp added indifferently from the side: “Albert, Lord Piere will hardly expend any effort for you, even less so if it disrupts the cooperation with the master.
So… rest easy as the head of the King of Chimera, and I hope you can impart some smarts to it.”
The Chimera let out a soft growl, taking its newfound “wisdom” and leaving the Royal Palace, while the Devil trapped in the goat’s head felt deeply dejected and in immense torment.
Is it now to be controlled by this Beast?
But His Majesty Cassius paid no attention to this minor scene beside him, simply lowering his head, quietly watching the Hexagram Array fade away.
