Chapter 355: A Vampire Hybrid

Chapter 355: A Vampire Hybrid

Mirel and Bakar were still confused about the situation.

Neither of them was aware of the suspicion on Master Tobias, and clearly so.

Ravenna prohibited Leandra from sharing this suspicion with Mirel and Bakar, fearing that the two would react badly, and confessed everything to Master Tobias. In order for them to get to the bottom of this, they need to make sure Master Tobias wasn’t aware.

Earlier, when Master Tobias came and talked about Bob, he was alerted.

Finding that Bakar and Mirel weren’t aware of Bob’s disappearance certainly made him aware.

Leandra failed to keep it a secret, but there’s no point in lingering on it.

At this point, she should fill in Mirel and Bakar first.

And she did.

“So that’s why you asked us to tell our stories again,” Mirel leaned back on the cabinet, the strength in his legs disappearing; what Leandra told him made him feel weak. “You wanted us to convince you to believe in Master Tobias.”

“Yes…” Leandra averted her gaze and looked at Ravenna. “Now, I’m not so sure anymore.”

Mirel also looked at Ravenna and understood where she was coming from.

It was hard to suspect the hands that fed them for years, and he understood that feeling clearly.

Bakar was silent.

He grimaced, doubts written across his face as he looked at Leandra with complex emotions.

“Are we…” Mirel opened his mouth again. “Are we going to confront him?”

“Most likely,” Leandra nodded. “All we can do now is hope he can make sense of this.”

Even though each incident that happened in the last few days made it clearer and clearer that the master knows something or even has something to do with this, Leandra still believed in her heart that this was all a misunderstanding.

She has to.

For everything Master Tobias did for them, he deserved the benefit of the doubt.

‘He has to have an explanation.’ She clenched her hands harder.

Bakar seemed like he wanted to say something.

But before he had the chance to do so, Mirel had already tapped on his shoulder.

“Come on. We have our own task to do.”

Mirel headed for the door, deciding to do exactly what Leandra told them to do.

Since they were most likely going to confront Master Tobias somehow, they needed to know more about his schedule to find the perfect opportunity. ‘Let’s pretend that we’re excited for the vacation, and then, when the right time arrives… We’ll confront him.’ Mirel nodded.

He stepped out of the room, Bakar trailing behind, but not without looking at Leandra one final time.

“Go on. She’s getting worse.”

Leandra’s eyes turned to Sabrina, and then to Ravenna, realizing that her hands had stopped.

She quickly snapped out of her trance and continued mending Ravenna.

Moments later.

Treating Ravenna’s wound was not an easy process.

Leandra was not used to treating someone like this—and the medicines were confusing to use, but fortunately, Sabrina was well-versed in this. She took over with the wound while Leandra lay beside Ravenna to help her go through with the pain the medicines would cause.

Even though Ravenna couldn’t speak, she was wide-awake.

And from how her body convulsed and her teeth clenched, she could also feel all the pain.

Sabrina applied the antidote first, coating it into her fingers and then rubbing it on the wound, forcing a painful grunt out of Ravenna’s lips. It was used in case there was venom in her bloodstream, and also hostile magical properties.

Then, she applied magical plaster to combat magical properties specifically.

Since Ravenna is a Hybrid, she has innate resistance to venom.

Magical properties, on the other hand, are akin to attacks from Crossers are more problematic.

So, there needs to be a special treatment to battle it specifically.

Next was the healing vial.

Ravenna screamed as soon as the healing vial touched her wound—it sizzled almost as if it was steaming hot water being poured onto her skin. But instead of causing more damage to her skin, the bulging veins around the bite mark began to ease a bit.

It was still bulging and black, but not as much as earlier.

Sabrina kept applying the healing vial.

And soon, the sizzling sound lessened greatly, and Ravenna didn’t seem to be in a lot of pain like before.

Her condition became stable.

Sabrina cleaned up the mess, putting all of them into the plastic bag, and then placed it beside her.

She stared at the bite mark while unrolling a bandage roll, narrowing her eyes at the wound.

“What?” Leandra noticed the look she was giving. “What are you thinking?”

“I’m looking at this bite mark…” Sabrina reached out—and gently pulled on Ravenna’s skin with her thumb to examine the bite mark more closely. “The more I look at it, the more it resembles a bat bite, doesn’t it? I’m no expert on Crossers, but I can’t think of any creature that small leaving a mark like this other than a bat.”

“Could this be the work of a Vampire Hybrid?”

Leandra sat up and looked at the bite mark again.

She frowned a little and leaned down to Ravenna’s stomach, opening her mouth as if to bite.

Then she realized, even her canine wasn’t small enough to make the bite mark.

“Hmm, you’re right,” Leandra nodded. “Some Vampire Hybrids could control bats, no? But a normal bat wouldn’t be able to pierce Ravenna’s skin, much less incapacitate her like this. If the one who did this is really a Vampire Hybrid, then it must be a strong one.”

Frowning, Leandra got off the bed and headed for the door.

She seemed to have something in mind or someone.

“Wait here. I’m going to find someone who could help.”

About half an hour later, Leandra came back along with a woman who didn’t seem to be a student.

She looked striking, though noticeably older, with piercing crimson eyes that seemed to cut through the air. Slight fangs peeked from beneath her upper lip—a telltale sign she was a Vampire Hybrid, surely a strong one at that, too, from the scent she was carrying.

As soon as she entered, the sharp, metallic scent of blood spread throughout the room.

It clung to her like a veil.

Draped in a black cardigan that hung loosely around her shoulders, it was clear she had just gotten out of bed.

“Sabrina, this is Professor Clara.”

Leandra introduced, gesturing towards her.

Hearing this, Sabrina stood up and bowed a little, giving Clara the respect she deserved.

She knew who Clara was, as it was impossible not to know her, who was the youngest professor in the academy, and was also a powerful Vampire Hybrid nicknamed the White Ghost. Any student would want to be her disciple.

And with Lucivar’s achievement, no chance that Clara would refuse Leandra’s request.

In fact, she was probably hoping for a reason to be closer to Lucivar.

Just seeing her in a simple cardigan alone showed that she rushed here without hesitation.

Clara nodded and then turned towards Ravenna.

“Give me some room to work with. I’ll see what I can find.”

Since a Vampire Hybrid could attack Ravenna, Leandra decided to call one of the strongest Vampire Hybrids around. If anyone could confirm whether this was the work of a Vampire Hybrid or not—It should be her.

As Leandra and Sabrina stepped aside, Clara moved around the bed and came to stand beside Ravenna.

She lowered herself and inspected the bite mark.

“I assume some Vampire Hybrids has the ability to summon blood creatures to help them,” Leandra said, looking at the wound worriedly. “It’s too small for a person’s bite—so I am guessing it’s some sort of bat creature. Ravenna is strong too, so it must not be a regular bat.”

Clara looked at the bite mark with a clear frown on his face.

She inspected it thoroughly.

“There are Vampire Hybrids who could summon blood creatures, but they must have Dracula’s lineage to access that ability,” Clara explained as she bit her finger with her canine, causing it to bleed. “Some members of the Valerius Supreme House have Dracula’s bloodline, but none of them should be alive by now. Dracula’s bloodline is too powerful, so the main branch of the house eradicated them years ago, not long after the destruction of the Angel Hybrids.”

“And even if a Vampire Hybrid causes this, it must be someone incredibly strong. As you assumed, the size of the bite mark is perfect for a Blood Bat, but it would take a powerful Vampire Hybrid to make one strong enough to wound a Chrysalis-rank Hybrid like her.”

Hearing this, Leandra frowned.

‘I don’t think the person who attacked me is a Vampire Hybrid, but I reckon he’s a Vestal like Nerissa to Lucivar,’ She contemplated deeply. ‘Ravenna did say Master Tobias is not as weak as everyone thought, but is he this strong?’

Just thinking about this drained her mental strength.

But at this moment, she couldn’t rule out Master Tobias, but she also couldn’t confirm it was him.

After all, the master of the Vestal might be a Vampire Hybrid.

And whoever that person was could be messing with them since their location was exposed now.

Pssh!

Clara let her blood drizzle down to the bite mark before it glowed.

Her crimson eyes flashed as she used her blood attribute to probe into Ravenna’s body.

As she did that, her expression turned stern as she felt resistance.

Once her blood was inside Ravenna, she tried pulling it out again, but she couldn’t.

“Another force is present,” She mumbled and nodded. “Yes, this is the work of a Vampire Hybrid.”

Leandra and Sabrina exchanged a look as their guess was correct.

But it wasn’t over; Clara still has one more thing to confirm.

Opening up her mouth, she elongated her canines and, with a swift motion, stabbed them into Ravenna’s stomach, right on the bite mark. Seeing this, Leandra flinched, and she instantly rushed to stop Clara, fearing that the blood was too much for her to handle.

All Vampire Hybrids tend to be drawn to blood, and Clara might be experiencing blood frenzy.

Clara lifted up her hand, signaling for Leandra to stop.

She wasn’t in blood frenzy; she was testing something.

For a good five seconds, Clara sucked Ravenna’s blood, but then she suddenly felt a weird taste.

“Keurgh!”

Clara retracted her fangs and dropped to the floor, her body convulsing violently as she coughed up blood. Panic flared in her wide eyes as they locked onto the bite mark, horror dawning across her face.

Without hesitation, she spat out the blood she had just drawn.

From the side, Leandra and Sabrina watched this in shock.

Both of them saw the blood that Clara spat turning black, as if it had turned into acid.

In between her agony, Clara managed to blurt out what she found.

“The Vampire Hybrid is stronger than me!”
