Chapter 558: Chapter 346 East Ma’s First Day Tour_2
Traveling requires preparation, ensuring there are ample exit strategies for oneself.
That’s why they had traveled all the way south to Zengmu Ansha and entered East Ma.
Compared to West Malaysia’s eleven states and two federal territories, East Ma has only two states and one federal territory.
From this, it is evident that the main economic activities of Da Ma Country are concentrated in West Malaysia.
Chu Mingcheng’s destination was in Sabah State of East Ma, so they had to drive northeast for a while longer.
Upon entering the waters of East Ma, Chu Mingcheng proactively contacted the local maritime bureau.
Following the arrangements from the maritime bureau, they docked and underwent inspection.
With all their documents in order, there were naturally no problems.
Chu Mingcheng’s luxury sailboat, of course, found a reliable dock and rented a temporary berth.
Money was not an issue for them, but avoiding accidents was essential.
Leaving the dock, the two carried their suitcases and took a car to Tawau in Sabah State. Since it was still early, they transferred to a bus headed for Semporna where they had booked a hotel.
In Sabah State, one could encounter many local ethnic groups; their stay in Sabah State was primarily meant to explore local customs and broaden their horizons.
During the two-hour bus ride, Chu Mingcheng and Jiang Luoluo enjoyed the roadside scenery.
There were no towering skyscrapers here, but the main streets were fairly neat, possessing a rich Southeast Asian island style.
However, upon arriving in Semporna, they found that the environment was somewhat poorer, comparable to some of the more backward villages in their own country.
Intending to head straight to the hotel after getting off the bus, they were met by a group of children offering to show the way.
It was a trap; after all, seasoned travelers who had done their homework needed no guides!
Isn’t there a fear of being led into a ditch?
The safety in Semporna was average, but there had been incidents of kidnapping Chinese people in the past.
Wanting to leave, the group of unpaid children continued to follow them.
Children are both angels and demons; they can heal hearts or lead one to hell.
Chu Mingcheng and Jiang Luoluo did not accept the children’s "kind offer" and continued pulling their suitcases, heading directly away.
The hotel was not far, just a few minutes away, and they arrived at the hotel, having booked a luxurious sea-view room.
The room had a floor-to-ceiling window. Opening the curtain, one could see the coastal scenery.
This place is known for its Crystal Sea; many domestic tourists come to Semporna for diving.
Chu Mingcheng was also capable of diving, hunting for some types of seafood and fish unavailable in their country.
By the time they got to the hotel, it was already past three in the afternoon.
The two lay on the bed to rest until just before sunset when they went out to stroll and find something to eat.
The town was small but lively; however, the proportion of Chinese among the crowd was not high.
After wandering the streets a few rounds, they found that the area was filled with seafood restaurants and had a strong local flavor.
Vehicles on the street were disordered, and often they could see children helping their parents with work.
These children were not old, but many of them worked more deftly than adults.
After a tour, the two decided to head back toward their hotel.
Right next to the hotel was a seafood restaurant with a very nice environment, crowded with diners, better than any other place they had found so far.
They enjoyed a meal of local seafood which naturally tasted very good.
Of course, being close to the sea was instrumental; the seafood was extremely fresh and inherently delicious.
After eating, Chu Mingcheng inquired at the hotel about renting a boat; having gathered the necessary details, they then returned to their room to rest.
The next day, they went to the recommended boat rental location and rented a speedboat.
They were already prepared for diving, and had brought their own diving suits, so there was no need to rent or buy any extras.
After renting the boat, the captain drove them to a small island, the name of which Chu Mingcheng couldn’t bother to remember and was a bit tricky to translate.
There, they encountered the nomadic Bayaon people, with rows of small huts established over the sea surface around the island.
The Bayaon children, bare-chested, all stared at them.
"Ah Cheng, they look so pitiable; shall we buy something to eat for them?"
Jiang Luoluo’s sympathy swelled slightly, especially since she saw some tourists had already bought food for a small group of children.
The ones who didn’t receive anything just looked on eagerly.
The visitors bringing gifts were both men and women. Chu Mingcheng thought these children must be different from those who got off the bus earlier, so he didn’t refuse them.
Then he asked the captain where they could buy food, and with a point of the captain’s hand, he saw some food stalls on the island and was instantly covered in black lines on his face.
This was practically saying: "Fool, just bring over your money!"
But, Chu Mingcheng simply wouldn’t do as they wished.
He had chartered the entire boat and wasn’t one of those tourists following a tour group.
So, he asked the captain to take them back to buy stuff.
The captain looked oddly at him, indicating that as long as Chu Mingcheng paid for the extra fuel, it was naturally no problem.
Then, let’s go!
Chu Mingcheng waved his hand generously, and they were ready to go back immediately.
But Jiang Luoluo grabbed him and said with a wry smile, "Stop messing around, let’s ask about the prices first. If it’s not too expensive, we might as well buy it here!"
"The money doesn’t matter. I just don’t like being taken for a fool."
"Then spending more money to go back, plus wasting time, wouldn’t that be even more foolish?"
"(º_languageº)"
Chu Mingcheng was stunned and realized she made a lot of sense.
Actually, he didn’t need to buy anything; these children wouldn’t starve.
But in the end, facing those eager little faces, he played the fool once again.
Mainly because these children didn’t cry or fuss or come up to ask for things; they just stared at him, and that’s something most people couldn’t withstand.
No wonder so many tourists ended up buying them something.
After handing out the items, seeing the children’s smiling faces made Chu Mingcheng quite happy himself.
Afterwards, he and Jiang Luoluo walked hand in hand on the beach, in no rush to go diving.
After walking a while, they saw a few glass boats gliding on the sea.
As the name implies, these were small boats made entirely of glass, just over two meters long, powered by paddles.
"Luoluo, want to try this out?"
"Sure!" As long as Chu Mingcheng was with her, Jiang Luoluo was agreeable.
They then went on to rent a glass dinghy, one sitting at the bow and the other at the stern, facing each other.
Once they were seated, the boat rental owner and a few people helped push the boat from the beach into the water.
Each had a paddle in hand, holding it in the middle and paddling on either side to move the boat forward.
Jiang Luoluo tried paddling a few times, the dinghy moved backwards a bit and then started spinning in circles on the water.
"Hey, hey, why is the boat spinning in circles?"
"Stop, stop, don’t paddle anymore, I’m getting dizzy..."
The paddles were not easy to handle, especially when sitting at the bow facing the stern.
Eventually, Jiang Luoluo, unable to handle the paddle, decided to leave it at the side of the boat, leaving it to Chu Mingcheng.
If they didn’t stop soon, they both were going to be sick.
Chu Mingcheng was much better with his hands, and with the right direction, he quickly mastered the technique.
The little boat slowly moved across the relatively calm sea, and they could see the beautiful scenery under the water through the glass.
Curious little fish came swimming over, constantly touching the bottom of the boat.
"So this is what the glass boats are for!"
"Indeed, it does add a different flavor. It’s only suitable for the scenic seas. Back home, we only have murky water near the shore."
The two chatted and enjoyed the unique seascapes when suddenly another glass boat appeared beside them.
The boat carried a very muscular black man and an Asian woman, who seemed to be from Southeast Asia from her facial features.
Seeing them look his way, the muscular black man lifted his chin and said, "Hey man, how about a race to see who can paddle faster?"
"Sure~" Chu Mingcheng couldn’t understand the fast English, so it was Jiang Luoluo who translated for him. He was quite excited to know the man wanted to compete.
Having some fun while playing around, wouldn’t that be even more interesting?
Seeing his agreement, the black man pointed to a water house about five hundred meters away and said, "Let’s start here. Whoever reaches that house first wins."
"OK~" Chu Mingcheng made a gesture with his hands, then got ready.
