Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Response! Headquarters Personnel Arrive

Three days later, you are sitting silently on a protruding rock by the sea, fishing leisurely. Unfortunately, you have yet to catch a single fish.

You suspect the fish in this sea are simply too clever, never once considering that you have no bait on your hook.

Just as you are about to give up, your subordinate, Hedgehog Man, suddenly appears at your side to report a matter. You remain noncommittal, not even turning your head. He, however, is not only unfazed but seems to find it normal.

Hedgehog Man brings you bad news. A communication has arrived from Blood Beast Ban Headquarters, ordering Major General Hu to bring you back immediately.

When Wild Boar Man and Hyena Man appear behind Hedgehog Man, you know that Major General Hu can no longer wait. Glancing at the fishing rod in your hand, you are struck by a sudden inspiration.

You hand the fishing rod to the three simpletons. You tell them that this area is full of fish and that you want to test their reflexes. They can only return after they have caught one hundred fish.

What a petty, cruel little game.

Chen Pingchuan was scornful of his divine self’s behavior. It was clearly his own lack of common sense that prevented him from catching any fish, yet he refused to reflect on his own failings. Instead, he simply waved his hand, dumping the problem on others and even adding a new task for them. It was just like the typical big bosses from his previous life: all the credit was theirs, while their subordinates did all the grueling work. They would exhaust themselves, and he would just swoop in to reap the rewards.

Shameless.

You walk briskly back to the assembly hall. Seeing Major General Hu sitting in the deputy’s seat with a worried expression, you feel a flicker of guilt. Of course, this feeling lasts only for a moment before vanishing without a trace.

You give Major General Hu his orders. If headquarters asks why you are lingering here, he is to claim that an unknown virus has paralyzed the entire Spirit Beast Island, rendering it inoperable, and then request reinforcements.

Major General Hu looks at you, puzzled. Fabricating an excuse not to return was understandable, but requesting reinforcements was baffling. If someone even more ruthless than him arrived, how would they handle the situation?

You offer no explanation. Instead, you give him a second order: gather orphans, as many as possible, and compile the Beast Tamer conversion method for you.

For the next three days, you take over the laboratory of the Blood Beast Ban branch and begin your perverse experiments.

You seem to possess an innate talent for this. While creating a normal genetic serum proves difficult, you have a much higher chance of success when you pivot to crafting potions with unorthodox effects.

On the fourth day, Major General Hu informs you that things have taken a bad turn. The special envoy sent by the Blood Beast Ban is a master at the late stage of the Seventh Transformation Realm: Elder Ye Hu.

Major General Hu’s words do not frighten you. You simply instruct him to proceed as usual. When this Elder Ye Hu arrives, he is to serve her the Jet Fighter serum, along with a few other little trinkets you developed over the past couple of days.

Elder Ye Hu arrived swiftly, only a day after Major General Hu’s message. She took an aircraft and landed on Spirit Beast Island early.

As Elder Ye Hu disembarks from the aircraft, she carefully surveys her surroundings. She finds nothing unusual, but out of an abundance of caution, she keeps her gas mask on.

You do not reveal yourself, remaining hidden behind the scenes. Elder Ye Hu marvels at the structure of Black Demon One, gradually letting her guard down as she becomes completely captivated by its unorthodox beauty.

It’s all over!

Chen Pingchuan didn’t even need to look to know what would happen next. If his divine self didn’t torment this elder to within an inch of her life, he, Chen Pingchuan, would change his surname to whatever his divine self was using in the simulation.

But then again, why was Elder Ye Hu referred to with the female pronoun?

Could Elder Ye Hu be a woman?

Looking at the stars outside, Chen Pingchuan felt a wave of exhaustion. Having run the simulation so late into the night, he was, frankly, sleepy. But he chose to persevere to see it through to the end. After all, simulating a solution would give him the confidence he needed to face the situation calmly.

As one of the few scientists in the Blood Beast Ban, Elder Ye Hu had never seen such a perfect biological specimen.

The prominent musculature, the dark, hardened natural armor, the razor-sharp claws, the hooked scorpion tail, the long, barbed tongue, and the brilliant white fangs—it was as if Black Demon One was a favored child of creation itself. Elder Ye Hu was utterly bewitched.

During lunch, Elder Ye Hu inquired about the situation at the branch. With a peculiar expression, Major General Hu briefly repeated the prepared story. It was clear Elder Ye Hu was not entirely convinced.

Furthermore, she nonchalantly asked about the whereabouts of Gui Nan Yilang. Unsure how to answer, Major General Hu could only feign ignorance and avoid a direct response. Elder Ye Hu’s gaze turned sharp.

After lunch concluded, Elder Ye Hu felt her stomach churn as an overwhelming expulsive force shot straight to her bowels. The dreadful sensation rocketed to her head. Not once since advancing to a Grandmaster of the Seventh Transformation Realm had she experienced anything like this.

By the time Elder Ye Hu emerged from the restroom for the tenth time, her legs had gone soft. Seeing the pitying glances from those around her, she seethed with anger. She called for her subordinates, intending to summon Major General Hu for questioning.

However, a glance around revealed that her entire retinue was suffering the same fate, only their situation was far worse. Due to their lower power levels, practically none were left standing.

Just as I expected.

Though he hadn’t taken any serum, Chen Pingchuan felt his own stomach clench in sympathy. If he were to experience what was happening in the simulation, he couldn’t imagine how he would cope. He would probably have a complete breakdown.

Elder Ye Hu felt her world turn bleak. Just as she was at her weakest, her strength greatly diminished, you slowly strolled out from the crowd, revealing yourself completely to her.

Seeing the reverence the surrounding Beast Tamers showed you, Elder Ye Hu assumed you were just another member of the Blood Beast Ban branch. After all, a single faction had countless subordinates; she couldn’t possibly remember every single one. She tried to ask for your help.

Far from helping, you instead have someone bring you a chair. You sit down a short distance away, holding a handful of otherworldly sunflower seeds and watching the drama unfold with the air of someone enjoying popcorn at a movie.

Sure enough, seeing your expression and the reactions of the people around you, Elder Ye Hu instantly understood. These members of the Blood Beast Ban must have defected. Although the probability of such an event was less than one in ten thousand, the reality before her was irrefutable.

Looking at the ashen-faced Elder Ye Hu, you calmly offer her two choices.
