Chapter 226: The Moment Reason Broke

Chapter 226: Chapter 226: The Moment Reason Broke

Xu Kai stood with blood on his hands and rage in his heart.

He was breathing hard. Dust filled the air. The mutated beast in front of him was roaring furiously, its claws tearing through the remains of the south wall. Smoke rose around them, and the battlefield was filled with fire, blood, and broken bodies.

He tightened his grip.

Just one more strike, and he would bring the monster down.

But then—

"IT’S BAD! MISS LIORA—SHE’S GONE!!"

A panicked voice ripped through the chaos.

Xu Kai turned his head sharply.

A guard came running toward them, his face pale with terror. "She vanished from the west wall! No one can find her! Liora is missing!"

Everything around Xu Kai went silent.

The sound of battle faded. His hands dropped slightly. The weight of those words hit harder than any monster ever could.

Gone?

Liora?

His heart stopped. He couldn’t believe it. She wouldn’t disappear. She wouldn’t leave her people behind. Not unless something had happened to her.

Xu Kai’s vision blurred for a moment as the worst thoughts filled his mind.

Was she hurt?

Was she captured?

Was she—

"Xu Kai!!" Mei’s voice called from behind, snapping him back.

But something inside him had already broken.

He had been holding himself back all this time. He didn’t want to use that power. It was too dangerous. Too destructive. And too feared.

But now?

He couldn’t care anymore.

His emotions—his fear, his anger, his worry—burned everything else away. If he went looking for her now, the south wall would fall. People would die. But if he stayed... he needed to end it.

And so, Xu Kai looked at the battlefield one last time.

And made a decision.

Slowly, he raised one hand into the air. His fingers were steady. His eyes burned red.

The air around him grew still.

It was as if even the wind had stopped moving.

And then, in a cold, almost whispering voice, he said a single word.

"...Collapse."

In that moment, everything changed.

The ground around him began to tremble. The very air twisted strangely, as if reality itself had become unstable.

And then—

Boom!

In a flash, every single mutated beast in front of him exploded.

There was no warning. No sound of swords or fire. One second, the monsters were there. The next—they were gone.

Blood. Flesh. Bone.

All of it burst into the air like red mist.

The Level 15 beast that had nearly broken through the wall was torn apart instantly. It didn’t even have time to scream. Its body was completely destroyed—shattered into bloody pieces that rained down on the ruined wall.

The battlefield was covered in gore. Blood splashed across the stone floor. Bits of flesh and bone fell like a grotesque rain.

And then, silence.

Total silence.

Everyone stood frozen. The fighters, the medics, the guards... not a single person moved.

Xu Kai stood at the center of the blood-soaked battlefield, drenched from head to toe in beast blood. His white coat was now black and red. His eyes still glowed faintly, filled with cold fury.

But it was not just his appearance that shocked people.

It was what had just happened.

There were no flames.

No lightning.

No blades.

And yet, every single beast was dead. Completely destroyed.

"...What happened?"

"Did... did the monsters explode?"

"Why didn’t we... why didn’t we get hurt?"

Voices whispered from all around the wall.

No one had seen Xu Kai move. They had just blinked, and the monsters were gone.

Xu Kai’s real power was something the world feared—and with good reason.

He had the ability to manipulate atoms.

Everything in the world—people, animals, buildings, monsters—was made of atoms. They were the tiny particles that made up all matter. Normal eyes couldn’t see them. Normal people couldn’t touch them.

But Xu Kai could.

He could see them. Feel them. Move them.

And when he willed it... he could rip them apart.

That’s what he had done now.

He had touched the very building blocks of the beasts’ bodies—and destroyed them. Broken their structure. Shattered their insides from the smallest level.

They didn’t burn.

They didn’t bleed out.

They just ceased to exist.

No one understood what had happened.

Mei stared from a distance, stunned. She had never seen anything like this. Never felt such pressure. She didn’t even know Xu Kai had such terrifying power. Her hands were frozen in place, trembling slightly.

And just as quickly as it had begun—

Xu Kai vanished.

Gone, without a sound. Not a flash of light. Not a word. One moment he was standing in the blood-soaked battlefield, and the next, there was nothing but silence where he had been.

Everyone stood still, as if afraid to breathe.

But slowly, slowly, reality returned.

The mutated beasts were gone.

The danger had passed.

And then—someone whispered, "We... we’re safe?"

Another voice shouted, "They’re all dead!"

One by one, the stunned expressions broke into cries of relief. A few people even began to cheer—shakily, weakly, as if afraid it wasn’t real. But it was.

The monsters were gone.

The south wall had survived.

And now, everyone rushed into action.

Mei snapped back to focus and knelt beside the wounded. "Bring me the bandages! Stop the bleeding first—don’t move him too fast!" she ordered quickly.

Guards and volunteers who had been frozen in fear now jumped to help. They carried injured fighters off the bloodied ground, wiped away the blood from their faces, and rushed to the backup supplies. Medics began to arrive, helping Mei patch up wounds, while others checked the wall for cracks and damage.

Though the horror had passed, the aftermath was clear.

Bodies. Blood. Ruins.

But amid all of it—hope.

Because somehow, they had made it through.

Even if they didn’t understand how.

Even if the man who saved them... had vanished without a word.

And somewhere in the silence that followed...

A cold wind blew across the wall.

And in every heart, one question remained—

Where was Miss Liora?
