Chapter 53: Chapter 10 Sun Ruixing Returns to Camp_1

As Wen Yu entered the mansion, the entire courtyard became exceptionally quiet.

Occasional sobs could be heard, but they were quickly muffled by family and friends standing close by, fearing that Cyclops, who was busy feasting, would take notice.

If Wen Yu was a murderer, then Cyclops was his weapon.

A bloodied weapon can sometimes instill more terror than the murderer himself.

"Mayor Li, what do we do now?" one of his subordinates asked in a trembling voice, causing Mayor Li’s complexion to turn a shade paler.

"Wait." He gritted his teeth and spat out a single word. Mayor Li understood that he had been taught a lesson by a mere youngster. In this goddamned world, the strength of a team is worthless in the face of an individual with exceptional personal strength.

Li Quan’an stood still, dumbfounded. Not just him, but everyone else too, including the elderly and children gathered at the base. Nobody dared to take a step. Cyclops was disappointed. The food it had just consumed had barely sated its hunger, and the evolution energy provided was too meager. Cyclops couldn’t feel its power growing at all.

Just as Cyclops was considering devouring a couple more humans while Wen Yu was away, a commotion suddenly erupted outside.

"Mayor Li, Mayor Li, something’s happened!" A patrolman came running in. They had heard the commotion caused by Cyclops’s killing spree earlier but had assumed Mayor Li was employing some "unconventional methods." Trust in the camp’s hundred or so professionists had kept them from intervening; they chose instead to continue with their duties.

Seeing the bodies littering the ground, the conspicuous Cyclops, and the crowd frozen in fear, the patrolman struggled to understand what had transpired. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Speak," Li Quan’an ordered the dazed patrolman without looking back, not in the mood for extra words.

The patrolman gulped, casting a frightened glance at Cyclops before reporting to Li Quan’an, "The sentry at the outermost post saw Sun Ruixing driving back in his truck. He also reported that loads of zombies and mutant beasts are tailing him!"

Upon hearing that Sun Ruixing had returned, Li Quan’an felt completely numb. Seeing the patrolman’s tense face, his anger flared.

"What’s the use of telling me? What use is it? Can’t you see the situation we’re in? Tell it! Go tell it!" Li Quan’an pointed at Cyclops, roaring at the patrolman as he vented all his pent-up frustration.

The patrolman looked utterly perplexed, glancing between Mayor Li and the murderous Cyclops. "This, um... this..."

Fortunately, Wen Yu heard the commotion in the courtyard and walked out of the room.

"What’s going on?"

Seeing Wen Yu appear, everyone in the courtyard breathed a collective sigh of relief. Cyclops’s presence was too oppressive. The timely reappearance of the weapon’s owner gave everyone present a sense of security.

The patrolman saw the young man questioning him, then glanced at the still-silent Li Quan’an, and quickly grasped the situation.

"Sun Ruixing has returned in his big truck, but there are lots of zombies and mutant beasts following him."

Hearing the patrolman’s report, Wen Yu surprisingly relaxed a little. Good, he’s back. Finally, I can get out of this mess. "Cyclops, come with me to check it out." As for the zombies and mutant beasts trailing behind, Wen Yu wasn’t concerned.

Seeing Wen Yu and Cyclops leave the courtyard, Li Quan’an clenched his teeth and barked at his subordinates, "Follow them!" He then took the lead and walked out.

When Wen Yu reached the alleyway where the stronghold was located, Sun Ruixing’s truck was lurching towards them. The vehicle was covered in blood and shredded flesh, with many parts of its chassis deformed. It wasn’t hard to imagine the fierce battle it had endured.

Behind the truck, among the pursuing horde of mutant beasts, the fastest—a mutant horse—was already less than ten meters away.

"Kill them all," Wen Yu commanded Cyclops.

Watching Cyclops surge forward and snap the mutant horse’s neck with a single bite, Wen Yu strode quickly to the truck.

The door was completely twisted and deformed, and the windows were splattered with blood, obscuring the view inside. Wen Yu gripped the door handle and tore the entire door off.

Then, he saw a dazed Sun Ruixing.

Sun Ruixing was startled awake by the sound of the door being ripped off. He turned his head, stared blankly at Wen Yu, and then tears began to stream down his face.

"They’re all dead, Wen Yu! All dead! I’m the only one who made it out. I personally sent them into the mouths of the mutant beasts. I failed them!"

Seeing Sun Ruixing clutching his head and roaring in anguish, Wen Yu sighed heavily. He could find no words to comfort the middle-aged man crying so wretchedly before him. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Meanwhile, Cyclops had already begun to clash with the pursuing mutant beasts.

The speed of Cyclops’s evolution was terrifying. In terms of combat power, the current Cyclops was definitely among the peak.

However, its opponents were not weak. Although there were no Level 2 mutant beasts, two of the mutant dogs had physique of around seven points. These two mutant dogs could inflict considerable injuries on Cyclops.

Most critically, the sheer number of mutant beasts was overwhelming. Even if only a dozen or so mutant creatures among them could actually harm Cyclops, the wounds on its body were steadily accumulating. Soon, Cyclops’s hide was mangled, and blood pooled on the ground.

Mortal Combat ability activated.

Cyclops’s combat instinct was absolutely ferocious. Relying on the combat power boost from Mortal Combat, it didn’t dodge or evade the attacks from these mutant creatures at all. It would target one, kill it, then move to the next. As Cyclops grew stronger with each engagement, the pursuing mutant beasts continuously fell. When the last remaining mutant dog with seven physique points turned tail and fled, it seemed to trigger a signal. More and more mutant beasts retreated from the battlefield, fleeing for their lives.

After all, mutant beasts also possessed intelligence. Without the lure of the Blood Bone Incense, they had recovered their basic judgment.

Watching Cyclops’s distant battle, Wen Yu had no intention of helping. Instead, he kept observing Cyclops—or more precisely, observing the S-class skill, Mortal Combat.

When recovering from minor injuries, the increase in combat power is very low, almost negligible. With moderate injuries, the improvement in physique becomes more noticeable. As long as it doesn’t impact combat ability, it should be able to maintain a threefold enhancement.

These were Wen Yu’s simple estimates. By the time Cyclops had dispersed the small beast tide, its physique had improved by nearly three times compared to when it started fighting. Although Cyclops was drenched in blood, its vital areas hadn’t sustained any major trauma.
