Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts -
Chapter 35_1
Chapter 35: 35_1
Guan Tao and his crew wore complicated expressions as they looked at Wen Yu, watching until Wen Yu turned his gaze toward them.
"Well, young brother—no, Big Brother—you’re incredibly powerful." Guan Tao forced a smile and flattered Wen Yu.
It was unrealistic to think Guan Tao held no feelings of envy deep down inside.
"Yes, I’m strong. I know that well enough." Wen Yu then asked, "So, did you guys enjoy the show? Would you like to leave a review?" He figured they must have something to say since they were still there.
"That won’t be necessary. We just wanted to admire your prowess up close. Big Brother, your fight just now was absolutely captivating! Our admiration for you is like an endless, surging river..."
When it came to the art of flattery, Lin Li was clearly a cut above Guan Tao.
"Enough. Say what you want. Don’t waste everyone’s time." Wen Yu, having sorted through his gains, grew impatient with Lin Li’s endless flattery.
"Hehe, Big Brother, you’re truly extraordinary." Lin Li’s face stiffened for a moment, but he quickly resumed his fawning expression.
"We wanted to ask, Brother, do you need teammates? We’re nowhere near as good as you, but we can run errands, take care of trivial matters, and eliminate the small fry you wouldn’t bother with," Wanping proposed seriously to Wen Yu.
"There’s no need for that. To be honest, it’s not that I look down on you. The reality is, the gap in our strength is too large. You wouldn’t be able to play any useful role if you followed me. I don’t keep teammates who can’t keep up with my development." Wen Yu bluntly shut down their hopes.
The expressions of Guan Tao’s group stiffened; they were clearly losing face.
"How arrogant! Refusing help that’s offered right to his door. In my opinion, this guy just got lucky. We might not be worse than him in the future!" Wan’an’s anger surged at Wen Yu’s merciless rejection, and he whispered to his teammates.
Wanping shot Wan’an a harsh glare. He realized Wen Yu, who was observing Wan’an with a half-smile, had overheard the hushed words.
"My younger brother is impudent, please excuse his rudeness. Since you’re not interested in us, Brother, we’ll take our leave then."
Wanping watched his younger brother offend the powerful expert before them. He feared Wen Yu might attack them if provoked. Under the immense pressure, he even forgot the rule that attacking other survivors was forbidden within the treasure land.
"Oh? Perfect timing. I’m done here too. Let’s leave together," Wen Yu said. Seeing the group walking toward the exit, he followed them.
Seeing their stiff expressions, Wen Yu chuckled. "Relax, I’m not going to do anything to you. None of you have anything I want. We’re just leaving the treasure land together and then going our separate ways. Don’t be so nervous; I’m not a bloodthirsty killer."
Guan Tao’s group collectively sighed in relief. They nodded at Wen Yu and were the first to walk out of the treasure land. Wen Yu watched them step out of the treasure land’s exit, then called out loudly to the empty treasure land, "Brother Da, I’m leaving! See you again if fate allows!"
"HMPH." Alcada responded with an angry sound.
Seeing Alcada was clearly unwilling to see him off, Wen Yu simply shrugged and stepped out of the treasure land.
「...」
Outside the treasure land, Cyclops had been lying in wait at the entrance for an hour.
As time passed, Cyclops grew increasingly impatient, circling the treasure land’s entrance restlessly. This place gives him too much pressure. If that terrifying presence returns and traps him inside the park, even ten lives wouldn’t be enough.
The silver vortex showed no change. Just as Cyclops was considering whether to retreat, the constantly spinning silver vortex began to slow its rotation. The soft, silver-white light also continuously weakened, and the once-huge vortex kept shrinking. Cyclops immediately turned his head away; he’d experienced this scene before.
Then, when it had shrunk to the size of a little finger, the vortex suddenly burst open, emitting a blinding silver light. Fortunately, Cyclops was prepared. As the silver light flared, he had already averted his gaze, avoiding the blinding flash. He whipped his head back around to see several figures abruptly appear where the vortex had been. Targeting one of them, he lunged.
「...」
Wan’an had yet to recover from the dizziness of the treasure land’s teleportation. Muzzily, he saw a huge grey shadow lunging at him. Its extreme speed left him no room to react. His world spun, and then a sharp pain shot up from his waist. His entire body was suddenly horizontal. The immense pressure on his waist made Wan’an realize an unknown creature had bitten him.
"AAAAAH! Help me! Brother! Brother Tao, save me!" The intense pain and the imminent threat of death made Wan’an roar.
Guan Tao and the other two had just regained their bearings when they heard the desperate cries for help. The scene before them made their eyes almost pop from their sockets.
Wan’an was clamped in the jaws of a massive wild dog, its sharp teeth sunk deep into his waist. The dog’s one eye scanned them fiercely, and then it violently shook its head.
The immense force made Wan’an scream in agony. As Cyclops shook its head with increasing speed, Wan’an was tossed about like a rag doll. Blood gushed from the wound, splattering everywhere, even onto the faces of Guan Tao and the others.
Finally, Wan’an was flung through the air.
Most of his waist had been torn away, his intestines and organs spilling onto the ground. The tenacious life force of a professionist kept Wan’an from dying immediately, but the horrific wound only made his suffering more intense.
Bloody froth gushed from his mouth. The pain was so intense Wan’an couldn’t speak a word. He could only stare hard at his teammates not far away, until his body grew colder and colder, and the aura of death drew near. Slowly, Wan’an closed his eyes.
"Wan’an! WAN’AN!!!"
Guan Tao and the other two stared in stunned disbelief at what had just happened. It all occurred too quickly, so fast they hadn’t even had time to react before it was over.
Watching Wan’an’s eyes slowly close, Guan Tao’s own eyes turned crimson.
They had known each other since childhood, promising to share fortune and face adversity together. They had dreamed of making their mark in this drastically changed world, envisioning their future countless nights.
Now, it was all gone.
"You damn dog! I’LL KILL YOU!"
