Chapter 30: Chapter 30 Ancient Demon_1
Wen Yu squinted his eyes.
Even though in this treasure land, there was a creature unknown to him being deliberately enigmatic.
However, this creature was right. The biggest problem he faced wasn’t finding this unknown entity, but dealing with the Demon Realm’s Gate right before him.
If he couldn’t handle it, he would lose his life.
"By the way, kiddo, let me tell you something: a bigshot is sealed behind this door. Of course, given your strength, you should have about, hmm, a ten percent chance of getting through."
"You’re messing with me, aren’t you? Ten percent? With my abilities, the chance of winning is only ten percent? Your treasure land is basically a premeditated murder scheme, isn’t it?"
"Kiddo, let me be honest with you. If you can’t beat this guy, how can you obtain that treasure? That’s a truly great treasure, you know. Work hard. Kill it, or be killed. I hope you succeed."
The unknown entity uttered this last sentence with extreme seriousness.
"Hmph."
Wen Yu scoffed. Fine words. He had already put forth all his combat strength, yet the voice told him he only had a ten percent chance of winning.
This meant the assessment was likely true. He had a ninety percent chance of dying.
Wen Yu disliked probabilities because they signified the unknown, things beyond his control.
The Demon Realm’s Gate before him slowly took shape; the pitch-black gate emanated an aura of death.
Wen Yu didn’t know what the so-called "bigshot" was, but he knew Demon Fiends all too well.
Every single Demon Fiend was a powerful existence; even the cannon fodder among them were as strong as ordinary professionists of the same level.
Wen Yu stared at the Demon Realm’s Gate. He immediately placed the F-Class protective jade pendant he had just obtained into the inner pocket of his protective suit, ensuring the protective jade pendant could take effect, then raised his battle saber, carefully watching the Demon Realm’s Gate in front of him.
"CREAK." The miniature Demon Realm’s Gate slowly opened a crack, and a gust of deep grey Demonic Qi billowed out.
Then, a hand covered in scales and sharp claws slowly extended. Heavy breathing echoed from within, causing Wen Yu’s heart to clench.
This pressure is too strong. What in the world is this thing?
The Demon Realm’s Gate opened wider and wider, until it was fully open.
A humanoid creature stood inside the Demon Realm’s Gate, then stepped out.
Nearly two meters tall, it stood on two legs and possessed a powerful build. Its overall appearance was similar to the Human Race, but no one would mistake this monster for a human.
A demonic face, a pair of black curved horns swept back from its crown. Its pitch-black eyes were devoid of emotion, revealing only the purest lust for slaughter and destruction. Below its eyes, a nose was barely perceptible. Not far beneath that was a large mouth crammed with fine, sharp teeth.
Although the monster’s bodily proportions resembled those of a human, its chest and back were denser and thicker, implying immense strength in its upper limbs. Its legs were also a full size thicker than an average human’s. Its entire body was covered in fine, greyish-green scales that glinted faintly.
Even more striking were the monster’s four sturdy arms. The musculature of its arms rippled with each breath it took. The fine scales could not conceal the terrifying power contained within. There was no doubt that its sharp claws were enough to tear any foe to pieces.
On the monster’s tough back, a row of sharp, fine bone spurs protruded, neatly arrayed along its spine down to its hips and extending onto a meter-long tail. The tip of its tail pulsed with a blue light, sharp as a sword, making Wen Yu’s skin prickle.
It wasn’t as large as he had imagined. In the post-apocalyptic world, everyone knew that while a massive body brought immense power, it also inevitably meant reduced agility. The most powerful beings would never possess such a glaring weakness. Instead, moderately sized creatures, like humans—and like this monster before him—often had outstanding combat abilities.
What is this? Wen Yu felt his body go numb. Every cell in his body screamed in the surging Demonic Qi, as if he were facing his natural predator.
"This is an Ancient Demon, a leader among Demon Fiends, a king, the ruler of the Demon Realm, and... our greatest enemy, and your—humanity’s—greatest enemy."
The mysterious, youthful voice had completely lost its initial frivolity. It was now filled with gravity, caution, hostility, and even a barely perceptible trace of fear.
So, this thing is my opponent in the final trial? Wen Yu narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the Ancient Demon. Yet, he could find no weakness in its physique. This body was an artwork, crafted purely for slaughter.
Suddenly, Wen Yu liked probabilities again. At least he still had a ten percent chance of winning. Without that earlier assurance, Wen Yu worried he might have lost the desire to fight.
"Give me some hints. At least tell me its general characteristics. Besides, you seem to want it dead too." Seeing that the creature before him showed no intention of attacking—just standing there stupefied, continuously emanating an oppressive aura—Wen Yu was happy to glean more information from the mysterious entity.
"Hmm, giving you some hints doesn’t seem to violate the rules. There’s nothing in the rules of the treasure land that forbids giving information to the Challenger."
The mysterious entity thought for a moment, then decisively betrayed the Ancient Demon.
"Listen carefully. The Ancient Demon before you has had its consciousness obliterated by this treasure land. It’s merely a type of puppet; therefore, this creature fights purely on instinct."
"Don’t underestimate the combat instincts of the Ancient Demon. They are even stronger than those of wild beasts. However, this has at least nullified this particular Ancient Demon’s combat experience and techniques."
"This is a Level One Ancient Demon, but the Ancient Demon Tribe is innately physically powerful. After the Dominator’s will enveloped Earth, all creatures’ physical attributes and skills were digitized."
"However, this isn’t entirely reasonable. So-called physical attributes merely indicate a creature’s evolutionary level, and the specific values for these attributes can vary wildly. For example, a Level 2 rodent, only half a human’s height and with physical attributes of 10, would possess nowhere near the physical strength of an elephant at the same level and with identical physical attributes. The disparity in their combat capabilities would be overwhelming. This is racial advantage."
"The racial advantage of the Ancient Demon Tribe far surpasses that of humans. The Ancient Demon you’re facing is Peak Level 1, with physical attributes of 10 points. However, by human standards, its physical attributes would be over twenty points—double that of a human. It surpasses humans in every aspect."
"Furthermore, the abilities of the Ancient Demon Tribe are extremely powerful. Every skill of any Ancient Demon is A-Class or higher."
"This Ancient Demon, its first skill is..."
