Chapter 273: Can’t stand it

Su Yinhe said seriously,

"Although you compliment my intelligence, I won’t be fooled. I refuse to get into an online romance. Online dating is risky." He is not Fangfang.

Lin Murong was resolute,

"Well, in that case, you just watch." Su Yinhe spread her hands in resignation.

She said that, actually also just to give Lin Murong something to do, to keep him busy.

Not really for him to start online dating.

Since he wasn’t willing, Su Yinhe didn’t insist.

After all, a woman in love is very busy; she had to rush off to date Chi Yan.

Whenever the two of them went on dates, Lin Murong would get emo.

Over time, he started to consider whether he should, like Fangfang, engage in an online romance too.

But online dating is risky.

Lin Murong was indecisive.

At last, he decided not to pursue online dating.

It was too dangerous. What if he ended up dating a guy?

He might as well play games.

Games were so much fun.

Or at least watch cartoons; those were good too.

He, Lin Murong, was just an ordinary man who liked to watch cartoons.

But even games, fun as they were, had their off moments and during those times, he would feel empty, lonely, and cold.

Then he would go and bother people.

People he harassed included, but were not limited to, Su Yinhe and Fangfang... and sometimes, when he really wanted to be a nuisance, he even bothered Chi Yan.

Which resulted in him being severely beaten up multiple times.

Lin Murong: "You lot have no conscience."

"Conscience? What’s that?" She really didn’t have one.

Neither did Chi Yan.

Fangfang, a robot, even less so.

No one did.

So no one cared if Lin Murong was feeling emo or how he was emo.

Lin Murong: "I get it, I get it, nobody loves me."

Lin Murong continued to be emo.

It didn’t matter to him, he really didn’t care.

It was all the same to him.

Lin Murong in his emo state.

Even though Su Yinhe was a person without a conscience, seeing Lin Murong emo every day gave her nonexistent conscience a twinge of pain, and she decided to relocate the supermarket.

Change the environment.

Maybe Lin Murong would stop being emo.

Lin Murong was speechless, "Is my being emo really because of the environment?"

His emo state was obviously because they were showing off on purpose.

Humph.

"Isn’t it? It is because of the environment." The external environment.

"Humph." Lin Murong stopped talking.

To say it was because of the environment was correct; this environment was not the same as that environment.

This new base was utterly ordinary.

But it was just the right thing to distract Lin Murong.

Saying it was a distraction, in essence, was just to find something for Lin Murong to do, so he wouldn’t spend his days eyeing people who were paired up.

The job Su Yinhe found for him was to sell things.

She herself was besotted with love and temporarily didn’t want to bother with business; she wanted to focus on her romance, so the supermarket was closed for now.

But business had to go on, she still wanted the Crystal Core.

So she made Lin Murong go and set up a stall.

He took the supermarket’s goods to sell at the new base, and the Crystal Core he collected would go to her.

"So please tell me, what do I get out of this?" Lin Murong felt like he was working for free.

Hearing Galaxy put it that way, it felt like he was just laboring for her without pay.

What could he gain from it?

"Joy, of course."

Lin Murong, "What? Joy? Joy? So, you’re not planning to pay me anymore?"

"Lin Murong," Su Yinhe patted his shoulder, speaking earnestly, "haven’t you ever heard the saying? Joy is priceless. I’ve given you something priceless, so why are you still obsessed with a wage that’s not even worth mentioning?"

Lin Murong furrowed his brows, feeling that what Galaxy said made sense, but also seemed nonsensical at the same time.

"But when did you give me joy? Sending me to sell stuff is your idea of giving joy?"

"Hey, are you silly or what? I told you to go sell stuff because, this way, you get to meet lots of people, chat with lots of them, and that’s how you become happy. If it weren’t for the supplies I’ve given, do you think they would talk to you? How could you be happy? In conclusion, I have bestowed upon you priceless joy."

Su Yinhe delivered this lengthy speech rapidly but without catching a breath.

Lin Murong’s CPU was already overheating.

He got so dizzy from Su Yinhe’s spiel that he agreed in a daze.

Lin Murong took a couple of steps forward, then suddenly came to his senses.

He pointed at himself, "So... I’m going alone?"

Su Yinhe nodded.

"By myself?" Lin Murong sought confirmation again.

Su Yinhe nodded again.

"Going alone, won’t it be unsafe? What if lots of people threaten me? What if I’m surrounded and they try to rob the supplies?" Lin Murong was quite worried.

"Ah, if they rob you, they rob you. I never counted on you to sell much anyway." Su Yinhe primarily sent Lin Murong away to get some air.

Su Yinhe dismissed the concern with a wave of his hand.

Lin Murong, "???!!!"

"What did you say?" Lin Murong couldn’t believe it.

"Ah... I mean... my point is, you’re so formidable, so strong, you can surely run away... definitely can handle them. I believe in you." Su Yinhe’s trust in Lin Murong wasn’t firm, but Lin Murong felt moved by it, the poor fool not picking up on the odd tone in Su Yinhe’s words.

Then Lin Murong picked up a bag of supplies and scuttled off to set up his stall at the base.

As soon as Lin Murong started vending, he caught someone’s eye.

It couldn’t be helped; he was too showy.

Others had nothing to eat.

Yet, he had a whole bag.

And he was only trading for Crystal Cores.

Disrupting the market.

They wouldn’t allow him to destabilize the market.

That was the more honorable-sounding rationale. In reality, they were eyeing Lin Murong’s goods, aiming to make them their own.

Then a group set out in a grand procession to rob him.

But they hadn’t expected Lin Murong to be so strong.

He singlehandedly knocked them all down.

They ran away, tails between their legs.

Failing in force, they attempted to outwit him.

They sent someone pretending to be a lonely old man to deceive Lin Murong, evidently having waterlogged brains to think Lin Murong could possess something like compassion.

In truth, Lin Murong, having survived this long into the apocalypse, had no such sentiment.

He came to the stall mainly to watch interesting people and hear their stories.

Because when Su Yinhe had instructed him to sell, he said to do as he pleased with the selling, as long as he got some Crystal Cores.

So Lin Murong sold however he wanted.

He had customers tell stories.

If they told a good one, he might even give it away for free.

Or, for the same amount of Crystal Cores, he’d give more goods to them.

Lin Murong’s actions were infuriating, yet no one could beat him.

Unless it was Su Yinhe or Chi Yan, Lin Murong was pretty imposing.

He was impressive in front of others.

He just couldn’t surpass the likes of Chi Yan and Su Yinhe, these two show-offs.

But in reality, he was still very tough.

Super tough.

Incredible.

Lin Murong loved that look of annoyance on their faces when they couldn’t do anything about him.
