Despite the reminder from the fans in Wei Ze’s livestream room, the others had already taken off, leaving him no choice but to join them.
He could only fly towards the Federation side with the team.
Meanwhile, the fans in the livestream room went to gather information from next door and soon returned with news.
Members of the Federation Camp noticed the commands and tasks in Wei Ze’s livestream room and hurried to an air force streamer room in the same session of the Battle of Britain as Wei Ze, warning the Imperial side was planning a bombing raid.
The Federation Camp streamer, upon receiving the information, peeked at the screen and found it true.
So they switched shifts with a teammate on patrol duty.
They are now flying over the English Channel, and the screen is turned off; only the streamer’s voice can be heard, making it impossible to determine their location.
Upon hearing this from the fans, Wei Ze frowned deeply.
It’s really treacherous.
Some fans suggested he turn off his screen as well, but seeing the rising popularity of his livestream, with many fans coming to his room due to the other side’s lack of visuals, Wei Ze said:
"The mission can’t be stopped, let’s see how things unfold first."
He then used the aircraft’s communication system to advise the others to be extra cautious, sensing a bad omen that the task today might be challenging.
The others received the message, and some jokingly felt Wei Ze was being overly cautious.
Wei Ze brushed off the jokes, flying his aircraft in formation to execute the bombing mission towards Dover, in the British Commonwealth’s south.
At this moment.
The southern port of the British Commonwealth, Dover.
Located in the British Commonwealth’s southernmost port city, Dover is the closest place to the French Federation across the sea.
But now with the French Federation occupied by the Imperial forces, Dover has become the most dangerous place, with the Imperial air attacks on the British Commonwealth destroying over half of the city and port.
Within the military camp on the city’s edge.
Numerous players have gathered here, having received notices to converge from all directions after entering the storyline.
Although they can communicate with other players, it seems like their presence in the storyline is utterly irrelevant.
Those doing daily tasks continue to do so, unconcerned about being online, and these players are all army members meant to guard against an Imperial assault; if it never comes, they remain idle.
Fang Ming and Yu Feng, two leading streamers of Celestial Shark Live, gathered together.
Many people within the city spent the night under relatively intact buildings, cursing the Empire in groups of three or four, while children with pink windmills chased and ran by the pair.
Fang Ming and Yu Feng ignored them, heading straight towards a collapsed tavern nearby.
They retrieved two bottles of alcohol from inside.
Though the alcohol and food in this game are not as good as those on Blue Star, the taste has a unique flavor, fully simulated by the Virtual Body Sensing Pod. Fang Ming took a sip:
"This damn game, just absurd."
"Did you trigger any hidden storylines?"
Yu Feng’s lips moved slightly:
"No."
"But it’s fine not to trigger them. Those storylines are too brutal."
He’s watched the trending videos before, with role characters receiving notifications of their mother’s death, interacting NPCs dying in air raids, and other similar incidents, resulting in none having a fulfilling storyline. It’s tough to say...
These scenarios are truly vicious in design, making him more cautious.
Even in combat, he stays behind to take potshots, unlike in previous games where he could die and respawn continuously.
Now he’s worried that restarting might assign him the role of a postman...
Fang Ming glanced at him, saying:
"Those plots aren’t real."
"They’re all fictional, and besides, we’re on Blue Star. This game’s world is called ’Earth.’"
"There isn’t a place called ’Earth’ in the universe."
"Triggering hidden storylines is the key."
"Haven’t you seen how many people have gained popularity by triggering storylines?"
Initially, they attracted many fans with their skills.
However, as World War II: Empire’s Rise gained popularity, this claimed realistic battleground slapped them in the face, showing individual strength has no significance in war.
Champion this, champion that...gone with a single potshot in battle.
Even in a scenario like Normandy Landing, survival doesn’t depend on strength but luck. If unlucky enough to land at the front of a landing ship, opening the ramp could mean instant death...
Thus, their livestream room popularity has been declining, even the trolls stopped bothering him.
Those triggering hidden storylines, meanwhile, see increasing viewership, leaving Fang Ming gritting his teeth and, for the first time, appreciating even having trolls demonstrate that he’s still popular. Now, even the trolls are absent.
If things continue this way, how much cooler can it get?
Fang Ming was contemplating whether to die a few times to see if he could randomly become someone worthwhile.
The barrage in their livestream rooms suddenly increased.
[Still drinking? Better run, the Empire’s bombing you now.]
[How unlucky, how many players are there in Dover? Could Zhao Ming have done this intentionally?]
[Not sure, but there are probably four to five thousand of them. I’ve seen Fang Ming’s perspective.]
[It’s too early, this is just pure torment for the players.]
[Hilarious, these two have no idea what’s happening yet.]
Fang Ming and Yu Feng looked at each other, bewildered:
"What’s going on?"
They hurried to pull up the livestream chat to realize that in their Battle of Britain scenario, there was an Imperial Camp streamer with an air force role, who had received orders to bomb Dover.
Dover was only a stretch of sea away from the French border and was approaching fast.
Seeing this message, Fang Ming’s scalp tingled:
"Are they insane?!"
"The city is already in ruins, and they want to bomb it more?"
Buzz—
The buzzing sound in the sky began, followed by the sharp whistle of falling bombs.
Fang Ming and Yu Feng’s expressions changed drastically:
"What the hell?!"
The two immediately dropped their bottles and ran toward the military camp at the edge of town.
Yu Feng suddenly stopped and looked back. Feeling puzzled, Fang Ming looked back too, while Yu Feng watched the people hiding under buildings not far away:
"Run....!!!"
Before he could finish the word, a black spot fell into the center of the crowd under the lights.
Under the lights.
Some people were still looking up at the sky in confusion, while others who had reacted were trying to get up in fear, and the children who had been chasing each other stopped, holding pinwheels, and looked at Yu Feng with curiosity.
At this moment, the scene froze in Yu Feng and Fang Ming’s eyes.
Boom—!!!
A huge fireball rose, and the energy from the explosion instantly shattered the frozen scene.
With adrenaline soaring, the scene of bodies being torn and vaporized by the energy played out in slow motion in their eyes.
Then the massive energy impact hit, and their bodies were uncontrollably thrown into the air.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of explosions sounded in their ears, followed by ringing, unable to hear any sound, only feeling the intense vibrations and scorching heat.
The screen in the livestream went black.
The sudden bombing left Fang Ming and Yu Feng unable to recover for a long time. The immersive experience, with adrenaline-driven slow-motion frames, stimulated their nerves.
Not until more than twenty minutes later.
They started to come around a bit.
The screen in the livestream began to light up slowly, and they also discovered they could control their bodies, though pain radiated from all over.
Struggling to get up, Fang Ming and Yu Feng found that dawn had already broken.
But the city they were somewhat familiar with yesterday had become entirely unfamiliar.
The buildings that once stood proudly in the city were gone, all reduced to rubble and debris. The air was thick with smoke, the burning fires, and dense black smoke pervading the entire city.
Fang Ming stood in place, looking around.
In the distance lay several planes, some Imperial, some Federation. It looked as though an air battle had taken place here last night, yet the outcome remained unknown.
The pain in his leg called him back, and Fang Ming took deep breaths against the pain:
"This game is freaking absurd...."
"Hiss—"
"Is my leg broken?"
Fang Ming looked down at his leg, already stained with blood, but there was no time to worry about it. The whole city was eerily silent, with only the sound of burning flames:
"Can anyone still be alive?"
Beside him, Yu Feng silently bent down and picked up an object that was nothing but the iron rod skeleton, with a screw at the top, showing that it should be the frame of a pinwheel....
At that moment.
The buzzing in the sky sounded again.
Fang Ming’s face changed drastically, wanting to run, while Yu Feng looked up at the sky as a row of small black dots descended.
Boom—!!!
After the explosion.
A broken pinwheel frame lay quietly on the ground.
Due to Imperial Air Force Marshal Goring’s baiting strategy, the British Commonwealth Air Force was slow to be drawn out.
The Empire began a full-scale attack, launching ’Operation Eagle’, targeting the Federation’s ports, air force airports, aircraft manufacturing plants, industrial towns, command centers, and other key points for full-scale bombing.
On August 13th, they dispatched 1,485 flights....
On August 15th, they dispatched 1,786 flights....
On August 16th, they dispatched planes.....
