Chapter 943: Chapter 437: Mini Bat, Can Also Fill Up Completely_2
She was about to lose her temper, but the eerie Art teacher interrupted her: "Enough! Stop!"
"Teacher, I won’t accept this!" Zhang Lingzhen shouted unwillingly, still preparing her next wave of dark green breath to attack.
Compared to the Physical Education Department’s straightforward physical attacks, the Art Department preferred to use energy to inflict pain.
The eerie Art teacher frowned, thinking to herself, "I’m saving you here, kid. What’s there to not accept? Do you have to let Xiao Zi drain you dry before you’ll give in?"
"He can absorb so much of your breath in one go—what more can you spray out, even if you were an octopus?"
"Besides, even if you exhaust every last drop, it still might not be enough to satisfy him!"
"Ren Jianxiong, take Zhang Lingzhen aside. Xiao Zi is our guest!"
The Penguin Person zealot, hearing the eerie Art teacher’s order, immediately understood and walked solemnly to Zhang Lingzhen’s side.
"Lingzhen, now isn’t the time..." Ren Jianxiong gave her a meaningful look and lowered his voice: "Don’t forget, we have more important matters at hand. Don’t lose sight of the bigger picture!"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Lingzhen clenched her teeth, tensed her body, and restrained her emotions, gradually pulling the dark green breath back into her body.
During the process, her gaze remained fixed on Lin Yi and Li Huiyuan. Her eyes toward Li Huiyuan brimmed with hostility, while her gaze toward Lin Yi burned with feverish intensity—a difficult-to-control mix of fanaticism and greed.
Such a stare made Lin Yi deeply uncomfortable, to the point where even his internal breath began to stagnate. A heavy sensation started rolling in his throat, and an overwhelming impulse arose—from somewhere deep—to rush forward and tear Zhang Lingzhen into pieces.
Seeing Zhang Lingzhen still struggling to suppress her emotions, Ren Jianxiong quickly pulled her behind him.
As he stepped forward, he immediately met Lin Yi’s cold gaze.
A subtle twitch appeared at the corner of Ren Jianxiong’s eye as he remembered the events of yesterday at noon—he had ordered the bandaged zealot to take a lackey nicknamed "Xiao Liu" to eliminate Lin Yi and Wei Liang. But afterward, both the bandaged zealot and Xiao Liu had disappeared without a trace, while Lin Yi remained alive and kicking.
Initially, Ren Jianxiong thought the bandaged zealot and Xiao Liu might have been killed by the Chef in the black apron, or that Lin Yi and Wei Liang had exceptionally good luck and found some sort of protection. But looking at Lin Yi now, he realized he had been wrong.
He had underestimated Lin Yi.
He had severely underestimated Lin Yi!
Crushing and absorbing the dark green breath directly into his own body—this kind of madness should have been exclusive to the Chef in the green apron or the Sneering Angels. Those entities had long surpassed the classification of "human." Yet Lin Yi, standing before him, from every perception appeared to be unmistakably alive, recognizably human!
At most, there was a hint of peculiarity about him.
How could he devour dark green breath as effortlessly as breathing?!
Ren Jianxiong couldn’t comprehend it.
He simply couldn’t.
In his mind, only the Teacher might be capable of subduing someone like Lin Yi.
As Ren Jianxiong momentarily lost himself in thought over Lin Yi, Lin Yi fixed him with an unsettling smile.
Ren Jianxiong’s plump, penguin-like frame shuddered violently, and he immediately averted his gaze in apprehension. Looking toward the eerie Art teacher, he reported in a subdued tone: "Teacher, I just noticed a large number of Sneering Angels appearing in the Teaching Building... They don’t seem to have started any activities yet, but I didn’t dare approach to confirm."
Ren Jianxiong was afraid; he understood the menace posed by the Sneering Angels. Once targeted by them, the outcome was nearly fatal. Even if saved, one might not live long afterward.
"Sneering Angels?" Lin Yi reacted, exchanging a glance with Li Huiyuan. Both of them recognized the shock in each other’s eyes.
Li Huiyuan lowered her voice and asked, "How are Sneering Angels appearing during the day?"
Lin Yi shook his head slightly and suggested, "Could it be related to the weather?"
During the Grey Mist Invasion, anomalies in weather could lead to peculiar occurrences. Furthermore, all areas above the fifth floor of the Teaching Building were part of anomalous layers, making the presence of Sneering Angels not entirely impossible.
This thought prompted Lin Yi to discreetly glance at the eerie Art teacher.
To his amazement, the eerie Art teacher showed no sign of panic—as if she’d long anticipated the situation.
More intriguingly, not only was she calm, but Ren Jianxiong also seemed relatively nonchalant.
"Hmm? Could they have already figured out some way to avoid the Sneering Angels?" A thread of doubt crept into Lin Yi’s mind.
The eerie Art teacher closed her eyes briefly to sense her surroundings before striding out of the classroom in high heels. A few breaths later, she returned.
Clearing her throat, she issued an authoritative command: "Everyone, follow me. Now."
As her words fell, the zealots in the lecture hall stood up in unison and began filing out toward the classroom exit in an orderly fashion.
Just as the eerie Art teacher was about to step out, she seemed to remember something. Turning back, she swept a cold, piercing gaze at Lin Yi: "You two, follow along."
Her tone became frigid, her voice dark and foreboding, like a whisper spilling out from the shadows of night. Her eyes shimmered with icy golden light, making it seem as if she had transformed into an entirely different person.
Lin Yi understood clearly that this moment revealed the eerie Art teacher’s truest self. The demeanor she’d exhibited earlier had merely been a transient anchor to appear more human.
Although Li Huiyuan was typically audacious, under the icy glare of the eerie Art teacher, her defiance crumbled instantly.
If she were alone, she would have struggled desperately, fighting tooth and nail in resistance. But with Lin Yi present, she instinctively shrank closer to him, timidly tugging on his sleeve.
"Brother Xiao Zi... What should we do?"
Lin Yi involuntarily flexed his tense bones, replying, "We follow."
"What?" Li Huiyuan exclaimed, startled. "Are you sure we’re going to follow?"
Lin Yi nodded firmly, his eyes radiating an aura of reassuring confidence.
"There’s no time to explain... Trust me."
Lin Yi mainly wanted to observe the method the eerie Art teacher used to avoid the Sneering Angels. Besides, with so many zealots around, he refused to believe the Sneering Angels would single him out amidst the mass.
"Alright." Li Huiyuan nodded.
Whenever Lin Yi uttered those three words—"Trust me"—it was as if he’d activated some causality skill compelling Li Huiyuan to trust him unconditionally.
As the eerie Art teacher’s "mandatory invitation" lingered in the air, Ren Jianxiong and Zhang Lingzhen narrowed their eyes at Lin Yi and Li Huiyuan, their thoughts unreadable.
...
X023, May 10, 10:02 AM, Teaching Building "Taboo Area B-5F," outside Class B15.
A throng of zealots marched out of the classroom—a mix of figures resembling humans and ones that did not—while Lin Yi and Li Huiyuan blended in, somewhat out of place.
Upon leaving the classroom, Lin Yi immediately noticed that the white mist enveloping the exterior had acquired faint traces of a familiar aura—delicate yet pervasive, dispersed like snowfall through the air.
"Ashes!"
The realization hit Lin Yi like a hammer, causing his heart to jolt.
The forbidden areas within the Teaching Building contained the aura of ashes?!
And the zealots seemed unfazed by it!
"So they’re indeed collecting ashes!"
"But... they don’t seem aware of the infiltration force at play, having coincidentally transformed that busload of people into zealots instead?!"
As Lin Yi pondered, events seemed to grow increasingly convoluted. Most concerning of all was the eerie Art teacher, who turned those individuals into zealots and then brought them here.
Was this a case of "inviting the wolf into the fold"?
Or was it possible that the infiltration force had managed to manipulate the zealots within the campus itself?! Their schemes ran deep...
