Chapter 941: Chapter 436 Encounter Zhang Lingzhen Again_2

Lin Yi inwardly rolled his eyes but said aloud, "Safe, as safe as can be."

The weird art teacher believed Lin Yi’s words, though she couldn’t possibly foresee the things Lin Yi had encountered...

"It seems the Black Chef’s abilities were truly exceptional. No wonder the Lord valued him so much..." the weird art teacher sighed. "It’s a pity, though—he’s gone."

Lin Yi pursed his lips; he hadn’t realized how highly the weird art teacher esteemed Old Mo.

But, thinking back, he could understand. Old Mo was likely one of the top combat strengths within the school district, able to be counted on one hand.

He wanted to say something more, but suddenly, several figures appeared at the classroom door, dusty and wrapped in gray aura...

With the door wide open, the interplay of light and shadows made it easy for others to glance over as they appeared.

Lin Yi seemed to sense something and immediately turned to look, his expression shifting abruptly.

"It’s her?!"

Standing at the doorway was none other than the girl in the pink hair clip and sailor uniform—Zhang Lingzhen.

Only now, Zhang Lingzhen seemed quite different from the image Lin Yi had of her.

Now, Zhang Lingzhen was shrouded in the tattered dark green robes unique to zealots, and underneath those robes, hints of her ruined sailor uniform were faintly visible. Her body emanated an unsettling evil aura, causing Lin Yi to instinctively recall the hound-like nocturnal species from the Dark Corridor.

Beside Zhang Lingzhen were several weird art students, one of whom looked strikingly like a Penguin Person—none other than the Senior Ren she had previously mentioned.

Lin Yi’s expression shifted at the sight of this group, realizing that many of the people who had arrived at the district on that blue bus with him were now present here!

Something suddenly felt amiss. When the weird art teacher first brought Zhang Lingzhen into the art classroom, there had seemed to be hardly any familiar faces among them. Back then, Lin Yi had assumed most of the bus passengers had been killed. Yet now, many were alive and had become weird art students—zealots—showing up here.

"What kind of twist is this?!"

Scenes from before quickly replayed in Lin Yi’s mind...

When the bus driver had hesitated to open the door, a burly man had pressed the open-door button under others’ urging, causing a large group of people to exit the bus quickly.

All the first batch of passengers who got off were now here.

Later, those who had been coaxed into leaving by the first group had not appeared at all!

It couldn’t possibly be such a coincidence! The issue lay right there!

"Could it be...?!"

Lin Yi suddenly had a thought. Could these people be part of the Infiltration Force’s ashes collection scheme or the Ashen Apostle feeding plan?

He abruptly shuddered!

Yes!

When that batch of people arrived at the school in their bus, they were immediately picked up by the weird art teacher, so Class Teacher-039 never had the opportunity to investigate them!

Thus, any connection between them and the Infiltration Force couldn’t be uncovered!

Looking at it now, the first group was clearly placed there by the Infiltration Force—they had worked together to open the bus door intentionally and stepped off!

Meanwhile, the second group consisted of the school’s so-called Experience Students. Tragically, they were all lured to their deaths.

If that’s the case...

What about him?

What role did he play?

Was his presence on the bus simply an oversight by the authorities—accidental or deliberately careless?

Were his memory issues the authorities’ doing?

Or the work of the Infiltration Force?

Or were they caused by something else entirely...?

His thoughts raced, and with each passing moment, Lin Yi became convinced he had been placed as bait by the Infiltration Force to feed the Ashen Apostle.

"I must quickly meet up with Young Master Tian..." Lin Yi’s sense of foreboding grew stronger, solidifying his resolve. "Tonight, I must get back to the dormitory, no matter the cost!" fre(e)webnove.l.c.om

These thoughts raced through Lin Yi’s mind like lightning the moment he caught sight of Zhang Lingzhen’s group. At the same time, Zhang Lingzhen also noticed Lin Yi.

Unlike Lin Yi’s reaction, Zhang Lingzhen’s eyes widened slightly as she saw him, her pale face displaying strangely mixed emotions.

Yet Lin Yi had an eerie intuition—although Zhang Lingzhen seemed to notice him, it was almost as if she wasn’t truly "seeing" him!

Zhang Lingzhen’s brows lifted in a faint arch; her pupils, like tiny beads, struck a stark contrast against the whites of her eyes, giving her an incredibly menacing appearance.

The corners of her mouth involuntarily curled upward, her once even teeth visibly sharpening before Lin Yi’s very eyes...

Desire, greed, savagery, gluttony... Lin Yi instantly sensed these emotions radiating from her. Twisted and entangled, they resembled a rope tightly bound with knives and swords, making one deeply uncomfortable.

Her gaze seemed to fixate entirely on Lin Yi. She ignored her surroundings, stepping steadily closer to him, breaking all conceivable boundaries as she approached.

"Perception?!" Lin Yi’s mind surged with speculation. "Her perception has broken through! Could she have detected something special about me?"

Narrowing his eyes, Lin Yi unleashed his own perception like extended tendrils, subtly ensnaring Zhang Lingzhen.

As he probed her, Lin Yi was struck by astonishment.

"How did she end up like this?!"

Through his perception, Lin Yi could see that Zhang Lingzhen’s body was as broken as her garments, with many parts not belonging to her.

She resembled a 51%-owned flesh-and-blood cyborg hybrid—most of her blood, flesh, and bones were her "original parts," but the remaining portions were foreign, as if she had been disassembled and pieced back together.

Strangely, though, the newer and original components of Zhang Lingzhen’s body harmonized perfectly, forming a seamless internal circulation.

For a moment, Lin Yi couldn’t discern whether Zhang Lingzhen had grafted pieces from other beings onto herself or whether her body had undergone some grotesque transformation in that direction.

By now, Zhang Lingzhen was extremely close—close enough for Lin Yi to see the flaring of her nostrils. Like a predatory leopard, she twisted her body, leaning toward Lin Yi, eerily reminiscent of Li Huiyuan’s earlier attempts to capture his primordial contamination—but with fiercer aggressiveness and greater greed.

Lin Yi stood his ground but was already prepared to pin her to the ground if necessary.

He hesitated merely because of the weird art teacher, unsure whether launching an attack now would be rash.

His restraint, however, only emboldened Zhang Lingzhen further. As she closed in on the verge of lunging, Lin Yi finally couldn’t hold back.

Just as he was about to move, Li Huiyuan lost patience too.

"Hmph!!"

Li Huiyuan scoffed coldly, pulling Lin Yi behind her. She then thrust her chest out and raised her chin defiantly as she faced Zhang Lingzhen.

"Sniff sniff sniff! Are you some kind of creep?! Gaping at me like that in such a disgusting way—want me to shove something down your throat?!"

Li Huiyuan snapped, sky blue aura weaving rapidly into her hand, forming the mini bat she now pointed at Zhang Lingzhen’s nose.

Her belligerent posture shielded Lin Yi, though her attitude resembled protecting food rather than a teammate.

Seeing Li Huiyuan, Zhang Lingzhen’s perception trembled violently, and her focus shifted from Lin Yi to her.

"Sports Student!"

"Boom—"

An intense hostility erupted from Zhang Lingzhen, as green aura spewed from her body, writhing like tangible tentacles—robust like massive octopus limbs emerging from the sea.
