Chapter 915: Chapter 423 Perception Leap_2
The structure of the world, in a peculiar manner, gradually unfolded before him.
He seemed to catch glimpses of figures traversing to the other end...
He knew that this path was about to reach its end.
"Is it there?"
Lin Yi gazed ahead, golden flames flickering in his eyes.
"This should be enough for now..."
"It’s time to go..."
"Not much time is left..."
Lin Yi’s ears began to pick up faint fragments of voices, unclear, distant yet close, existing somewhere between presence and absence.
"Go?"
"No! Not yet! We can’t go!"
Lin Yi grew anxious; if the figures on that side left, wouldn’t his journey be in vain?
As his emotions surged, the previously stable world began to ripple, violently shaking, teetering on the brink of collapse.
He quickly composed himself, and only then did his perception stabilize.
"Huff—huff—"
A white light appeared ahead; Lin Yi knew this was the end.
His consciousness drifted ever so faintly, ultimately dissolving into the white light...
As the white light dissipated, his perception reached the far shore. What unfolded before his eyes resembled countless pieces of a three-dimensional puzzle floating in nihility, continuously assembling and merging.
Finally, a dimly lit, oppressively dark world materialized before him.
"The Library!" Lin Yi was startled. What appeared before him was a spherical ground where countless towering Doric columns rose sharply like spires. Such columns were common in architectural clusters of Ancient Greek temples, used to support their towering domes.
Lin Yi couldn’t help but marvel. Since entering the campus, he had finally encountered something related to his profession.
However, the Doric columns before him seemed different from what he’d learned.
"What’s the deal with black Doric columns?"
He didn’t have time to ponder deeply; his attention was quickly drawn to the sculptures adorning the tops of the Doric columns.
Pure white Angel Sculptures closed their wings, their faces grotesque and terrifying, smiles stretched to reveal sharp fangs...
Pitch-black Demon Sculptures unfurled their bat wings, ugly in appearance but with expressions of divinity, as if flowers of extreme wickedness bloomed beneath radiant light...
Among the alternating black-and-white Doric columns, scattered bookshelves were placed. Lin Yi’s perception, having reached the far shore, now appeared beside one of these bookshelves.
At this bookshelf, he spotted several Art Students dressed in dark green robes.
One of the Art Students seemed to be engaging with "him" in conversation.
But due to what might have been the aftereffects of consciousness layer transitions, all Lin Yi could perceive were fragments of "buzzing" sounds, as if the voices were coming from an unfathomable distance, entirely indistinct.
He gazed blankly around, trying to take in every detail of the surroundings.
Soon, he noticed "himself" holding a book in his hands, its contents identical to what he’d previously seen.
He turned to the cover, and sure enough, the title read: "Super Extreme Fighting! The Secret Awakening of the Magical Girl!"
"It really is this book!"
"My guess was right!" Lin Yi was overjoyed, but before he could celebrate too much, he felt shaking from his shoulder.
He initially thought it was Li Huiyuan jostling his body in reality. However, when "he" turned around, he saw the Art Student who’d been talking to him now shaking him fervently.
Beside him, another Art Student stretched out their palm, waving it repeatedly in front of his face with a worried expression, speaking incessantly.
"You... okay... right...?"
Distant voices, fragmented into incomprehensible pieces, pierced Lin Yi’s ears.
"Hey..."
"Li Zidan..."
"Li Zidan..."
"Wake up... Wake up..."
He saw others showing concern, seemingly engaging in agitated exchanges with those nearby.
"Go get the teacher quickly..."
"Li Zidan has been corrupted..."
"Hurry..."
"Go..."
"Now..."
"Corrupted...? Li Zidan...?" Lin Yi was taken aback, "Could it be...?"
He looked down to find himself wearing a dark green Art Student uniform. Instinctively reaching up to touch his face, "his" facial structure was wholly unfamiliar, resembling someone else’s...
"This...?! Lin Yi was startled internally, "Did my perception penetrate the book, reverse-invade the consciousness of this Art Student writing the information, and borrow his perspective to observe all this around me?"
[Lin Yi, Lin Yi...]
[You’ve come... You’ve come...]
[I can feel you...]
Just then, he heard a murmur, chillingly familiar and harrowingly persistent.
He looked up, and suddenly noticed something he’d previously overlooked—descending down the tops of the columns, under the Angel and Demon Sculptures’ feet, were countless chains. At the end of each chain hung broken sculptures of small angels or small demons.
The infant-like wailing noises clearly came from these fractured little angel sculptures.
They cheered gleefully, seemingly ecstatic, as though the one who had once made a pact with them had finally returned.
[Don’t listen to their temptations!]
[Run! Quickly run!!]
[Run away!]
The Demon Sculptures growled, urgency apparent in their blend of divine and grotesque visage.
[Don’t let "It" discover you!]
[The time isn’t right!]
[Go!]
[Find her first! Find her first!!]
[Run away!!]
[Leave!]
"What...? What does this mean!" Lin Yi was utterly confused, unable to decipher their cryptic warnings.
At this moment, he noticed an approaching Art Teacher hurrying toward them.
It wasn’t the familiar Art Teacher "Big Golden Fur," nor Homeroom Teacher Bai Fangshuo, but a stranger he’d never met before.
The Art Teacher held what appeared to be a lamp, its radiant light exuding pressure on Lin Yi’s Spirit.
"An Extraordinary Creation!"
Lin Yi instantly realized, and his intuition screamed: run! If he didn’t, the Extraordinary Creation wielded by the Art Teacher might harm him!
"Time to bolt!"
Lin Yi growled internally, and with a thought, escaped from "Li Zidan’s" body, akin to shedding clothing. The return path opened—fractured light and shadows bloomed like flowers, and the surrounding architecture once again disassembled, splintering and collapsing...
Smoothly, Lin Yi retreated back to the road he’d initially come from, surrounded by countless butterfly-like light trails. That whirlpool-strewn path, reminiscent of Star Moon Night, reappeared before him.
Lin Yi began tracing the filaments of induction back to his physical self.
The process started seamlessly, but as he approached the exit of the whirlpool-filled passage, a strange sensation crawled into his heart, as though something was watching him.
His instincts kicked in, and Lin Yi immediately looked toward the countless whirlpools. To his horror, pairs upon pairs of eyes appeared within them—countless eyes swirling in the whirlpools, like an eerie rendition of cosmic, dark void watchfulness.
Deep hums from the void, accompanied by agonized screams, intermittently echoed throughout the passage...
This time, Lin Yi discerned the sounds—the syllables of the Cautions: "Those Who Chase the Light Through the Fog End Up as Phantoms"—"De som jager lyset i tåke blir til slutt fantomer," and "Angels Walk Towards Light and Do Not Wander"—"Engler Går mOt lySet og går ikkE på Avveie."
As these sounds emerged, the countless eyes seemed to writhe in torment, their agitation rippling throughout the passage and destabilizing its fragile structure.
Lin Yi sensed the collapse of the dimensional passage, as though some unknown entity had detected his consciousness navigating layer transitions!
A force began to tear the passage apart, intent on burying him within!
