Chapter 90: Chapter 41 "Personal Verification"_2

"That’s strange..."

After a few steps, he looked at the classmates around him again.

Suddenly, it seemed like he had discovered something...

"It seems like... the headcount is off?"

He looked around and silently counted the classmates beside him.

There were many people in the distance, but there were only eight classmates around him.

He withdrew his gaze and walked forward, silently counting his steps in his mind.

When he had walked about twenty steps, he looked around again.

In total... five classmates.

"Three more people have disappeared?!"

Lin Yi blinked, startled.

"Did they vanish into thin air, or...?"

He withdrew his gaze, continued to move forward, and observed the classmates who were almost side by side with him using his peripheral vision while silently counting his steps.

"Lin Yi, hurry up and stop looking around!" came Wei Liang’s slightly urging voice from behind.

Lin Yi glanced at him and hurriedly said, "Okay, okay, I know... Damn!!!"

He abruptly looked towards his classmates, his pupils slightly constricting.

"Damn! Another one has fucking disappeared!"

"What’s going on?"

Lin Yi speculated that these people might have walked the nonexistent road like him, but the question was... how did they vanish out of thin air?

Lin Yi furrowed his eyebrows.

"This place, known as one of the safest in the campus area, the Gymnasium, is filled with so many dangers on the way."

"It’s like all the dangers were shoveled out onto this road!"

"What’s this ’Law of Conservation of Danger’?"

"The dangers on the way to the Gymnasium not even mentioned, huh!"

As he walked, he thought about how he might have unwittingly ended up on that "nonexistent road."

Upon recalling, he suddenly noticed the key issue.

"It’s the ’sea breeze’!"

The whiff of the sea, mixed with the smell of sun-dried shrimp shells and rotten fish, could easily make one think of the seaside...

"Just now I smelled it, pondered the scent with my eyes closed, and when I opened them, I realized I was on that path..."

"The problem arises here!"

"Those suddenly disappearing classmates share something in common with me..."

Lin Yi felt that perhaps only part of the conditions needed to be met to appear on another path.

But now he had no time, nor was he willing to think about these issues.

At night, back in the dormitory, he’d have plenty of time to think and even discuss it with Hetian Bufan.

Speaking of discussions... Lin Yi’s thoughts suddenly turned to the content of the signboard at the Gymnasium, his spirit perking up.

"Wait a minute!"

"I think I understand something!"

The sign before the Gymnasium read:

[The road to the Gymnasium is and only is one, with street lights installed (with lamp number), do not walk on roads without lights.]

[The Gymnasium’s location is somewhat special; the wind might be a bit strong, don’t worry, as long as there is no fog, it is normal.]

These two, written at the forefront and in the largest letters, were easily visible.

"So the purpose of the signboard is... to make us firmly believe that there is, ’only and only one road’ to the Gymnasium!"

"That means, a firm belief is the necessary condition to reach the Gymnasium?!"

"And the purpose of the second line is actually to make us ignore the presence of the wind!"

"So it’s ’ignore’ again, huh?"

As Lin Yi thought of this, his steps involuntarily paused.

So, he basically... he fucking practically experimented with the contents of the gymnasium’s signboard, using his own lesson to deepen his understanding of the signboard?!

"Damn, how could I fucking step into this kind of trap?!"

He looked at Wei Liang.

Wei Liang suddenly shivered, "Damn, what the hell, man! You scared me!"

Lin Yi slightly leaned back, sizing up Wei Liang...

"Liangzi, did you notice the classmate next to us?" he tentatively asked.

Wei Liang shook his head, "My eyes are only on the path, when I walk I just focus on walking, why should I care about other people?"

Lin Yi choked for a moment, then asked, "So, you didn’t smell anything either, right?"

Wei Liang replied impatiently, "Didn’t I tell you, I can’t smell anything, okay!"

Fearing that Lin Yi would ask again, he pointed to his nose, "It rained outside the classroom last night, I think I accidentally caught a chill, my nose is a bit blocked, can’t smell anything."

"Nose blocked...?" Lin Yi was stunned, "How careless can you be? Dude, did you do it on purpose or was it accidental?"

The path to the gymnasium today was obviously unusual, the "sea breeze" seemed to have blown not only at him but had also led many other classmates onto that nonexistent path.

But Wei Liang... as if he had anticipated this, had blocked his nose in advance?

"Damn, who would do that sort of thing deliberately? Would you deliberately catch a cold?" Wei Liang jumped to anger, his eyebrows screwed up immediately.

"Oh oh oh, my bad, my bad..." Lin Yi quickly conceded, ending the topic, "Hey look, we’re at the gymnasium!"

Lin Yi pointed ahead.

The two had walked down a slightly sloping road, and the gymnasium was not far ahead, seemingly just around a corner to the entrance.

Wei Liang looked at the gymnasium and didn’t dwell on the previous topic with Lin Yi anymore.

From this angle, Lin Yi noticed that there was a giant egg-shaped building connected to the back of the gymnasium.

"That’s the Giant Dome, it’s a football stadium, and it is integrated with the gymnasium in its design. You can get to the Giant Dome from the gymnasium through the ’Safety Passage’..." Wei Liang explained, "This will be mentioned later in the ’Gymnasium Regulations’, we’ll pick it up later and you’ll understand."

"Oh~" Lin Yi responded.

When they arrived at the entrance of the gymnasium, the time on his watch had reached 14:26.

The S City University’s gymnasium was much bigger than Lin Yi had imagined, not at all like something on a school scale, more like something on a city-scale.

Up close, the gymnasium gave Lin Yi a strange feeling, it didn’t feel like a normal sports facility, more like... some kind of towering Wall Fortress.

But this was just his first impression, he thought about it and then let it go.

The entrance to the gymnasium was a huge glass door, inside which stood several Sports Students in blue and white tracksuits.

These Sports Students each held a baseball bat, their eyes filled with intense vigilance as they surveyed their surroundings, noticing Lin Yi and Wei Liang, one of them shouted impatiently:

"Hurry up, quicken your pace!"

"You loitering as if you’re shopping?!"

"Just go through this door, yes, yes, that’s it, stop dawdling, hurry up!"

Wei Liang whispered, "That’s just how Sports Students are, always seem angry... I wonder if it’s because they have too much pent-up energy..."

"What the heck are you muttering about? Come with me to the field to practice later!" one of the Sports Students pointed a baseball bat at Wei Liang’s nose and angrily said.

Wei Liang immediately looked bitter, shrank his neck, and cried out in agony, "Not really, big brother... I was hoping to go to the gym class to get some hands-on guidance from a pretty senior girl..."

"Gymnastics, huh? Hehehe, fine, I’ll come to teach you later." A muscular and burly man stepped out from the entrance, raised an eyebrow, and sneered at him.

"Er..." Wei Liang’s face stiffened, like a wilting rapeseed flower, his head drooping as he walked into the gymnasium.

Lin Yi followed closely behind Wei Liang.

As he traversed the gymnasium’s big doors and entered the gymnasium, his spirit suddenly lifted...

An unprecedented sense of security instantly enveloped him.

In his heart, he subconsciously felt the urge to stay in the gymnasium.

’Staying in the gymnasium as a Sports Student doesn’t sound too bad...?’

A thought quietly emerged in his mind.

Just then, something tapped on his chest.

"Stop daydreaming, come on, pick up the gymnasium regulations first!" Wei Liang pounded on his chest, urging him.

Lin Yi looked ahead, seeing a pile of handbooks listed in an automatic lending machine; even through the glass, he could clearly see the words on the cover of the handbooks.

Gymnasium Regulations.
