Chapter 796: Chapter 366: Atop the Bell Tower, the Quantum Giant Clock_2

Minutes passed in such agony, but Lin Yi had already adapted to the feeling of his body being ravaged, and he continued to step forward, ascending the final half of the staircase.

Such was the ordeal that, had anyone been there to witness, they would have seen a horrifying sight.

Lin Yi now resembled a mummy that had just escaped its seal, with the only intact parts being a skeleton that seemed to have been cast from gold, a heart that still ’thump thump’ beat, and a brain relatively whole within the skull.

But elsewhere, tattered flesh clung to his bones like rags, writhing under the influence of sky blue particles, trying to heal, yet every gust shredded those stitched places, as if they were minced by a grinder.

Perhaps because he had grown accustomed to this ’inhuman torment,’ when he perceived his own condition, he did so with a chilling indifference. Such detachment, seemingly uncaring even for his body, led him to a terrifying discovery.

Every blast of air seemed to carry away something encased within him, yet the parts that were taken were never restored by the sky blue aura,

Gradually, a golden aura began to spread from his bones, weaving outwards slowly like fabric being spun.

By the time Lin Yi was nearly done with the stairs, his body had finally reached a state where it could maintain a ’normal human shape’ under the buffeting of the gusts, rather than a mummy’s form.

At last, he stepped onto the final tier of the Bell Tower staircase.

When he completely left the staircase, a chilling sensation, like passing through a curtain of water, washed over him from head to toe.

This magical feeling felt familiar to him; upon reflection, wasn’t this the same sensation as traversing the plastic air curtains of the Cafeteria and many other thresholds?

’Did I Traverse a layer?’

The first thing that came to Lin Yi’s mind was the Cafeteria’s air curtains, with their penetrating properties and the faint Perception of anomalies from another layer.

Because behind the air curtains lay the same Cafeteria, yet the scene after entering was different from that before entering, this phenomenon was strikingly similar to the one he was experiencing now.

After a moment’s daze, Lin Yi instantly realized the true purpose of his journey—

’Right! The Night Watchman!’

Following his instincts, he looked in the direction of the Ancient Bell, but what entered his Vision was an absurd World beyond his comprehension...

At the top of the Bell Tower, the ’scene’ he saw from the steps was completely different. His arrival felt as if he had inadvertently entered a higher dimension from a lower one, and everything before him seemed as if an invisible, magnificent force had burst the Bell Tower open, with its parts suspended in mid-air but still linked by some strange Gravity, with some even dissected into fragments no larger than pebbles.

To Lin Yi, it felt like a World that had been shattered and then reordered.

Under his feet were the familiar Yellow Granite slabs of the Bell Tower, yet these slabs kept expanding and rotating, and the carvings above him in the dome bloomed extravagantly, iterating and transforming into tiny particles indiscernible to the naked eye at the edges.

The entire World seemed torn and reconstructed into another portrait, with certain areas retaining their order while the broken segments floated chaotically, without pattern, throughout the World.

At the core of the Bell Tower’s summit, amidst the multitude of eerie fragments at the absolute center, the Quantum giant clock also presented itself in a form starkly different from before.

The massive body of the clock, like being disassembled, floated there, sharing a spread-eagle stance akin to the top of the Bell Tower, emanating a cyberpunk technological vibe.

Apart from retaining the silhouette of a ’bell,’ it had already transcended any realistic tangible objects.

It’s akin to those images generated by computer programs, discernible from afar, revealing their contents. Yet once the distance is too close, all that can be seen are incomprehensible dots and fragments.

Outside the contour of the bell, countless mottled lights and shadows float, resembling special effects. But upon closer inspection, these lights and shadows take on substantial forms, even purer than any manifested supernatural powers...

Golden, white, red, blue, green... Rich yet pure, they stir a subconscious desire within one to reach out and tenderly caress them.

And near the Quantum giant clock, a towering figure stands.

’Night Watchman’!

The Night Watchman stands resolute, with a halo of black and gold aura swirling around his body, like a cloak. Near him, it’s dark and glossy, while the part far away from him becomes loose, resembling particles.

Behind the Night Watchman, the thin black and gold aura, mist-like, rolls on endlessly like ocean waves, seemingly sketching an indistinct figure.

’That seems to be...’

That seems to be the colossal ethereal shadow of the Night Watchman himself, holding the Quantum giant clock. With a slow motion, it moves with an indomitable energy that cannot be measured in conventional ways, colliding against the surface of the clock.

’Duang——’

A heavy surge of energy, like the outbreak of a mountain flood, bursts forth from the Quantum giant clock, coalescing into a terrifying storm. The storm gushes out through the fractures of the Bell Tower, pouring viciously into the void of the outside world!

And the residual energy waves echoing within the Quantum giant clock eventually flow quietly into the interior of the Bell Tower, streaming down the stairs and entering the Art classes.

When Lin Yi ascended the stairs, he was struck by this peripheral burst from the Quantum giant clock—mere leftovers, that’s all they were.

His attention unconsciously followed the surge of energy towards the chaotic void beyond the broken fragments of the Bell Tower.

Pearing out from this dimension, nothing in the outside could be clearly seen, but when the energy wave surged, the pitch-black world undulated like stirred tides, forming fold upon fold...

And within those folds, Lin Yi, in a semi-translucent state, thought he saw the silhouette of some creature—a gigantic serpentine shadow!

Perhaps not just a shadow of a snake!

The size of the creature was unknowable, with only its vaguely discernible outline in the darkness already seeming to dwarf the world the Bell Tower was in.

It merged with the pitch-black world, continuously infiltrating into the dimension of the Bell Tower, as if seeking to disrupt some characteristics that the Bell Tower held.

In front of that figure, the Bell Tower was as minute as a model toy.

The dark silhouette was like a big snake, and also like countless big snakes, or maybe even the shadow of octopus tentacles and some sort of vast wings...

Its contour seemed like an ancient evil holy image dragged out from the deepest and most sinister nightmares, the black surge its natural camouflage yet also seemingly part of its essence, intertwining and entangling in such a way that one cannot distinguish where the darkness ends and where the origin of its dreadful form begins.

Its long and winding body forked into many parts, each tendril-like serpentine shadow exhibiting a distortion that defied logic, completely erratic. The mere undulating phantom was enough to induce a shiver from deep within one’s soul and a chilling sense of helplessness.

The occasional dim luster of scale-like substances on its body are entirely nonexistent in this world, an existence that cannot be described by the properties of physics; each one appeared like an ancient rune, marked with evil that ages could not erase, glimmering with a cold, unnatural sheen as if chanting blasphemies from a distant space-time...
