Chapter 760: Chapter 351: Candlestick Sculpture on the Stone Bridge (Extra 2500 Words)

Lin Yi pursed his lips, not responding to the remark, aware that things were often not so simple.

Soon, the wooden sign nailed to the stone pillar at the start of the Stone Bridge also quickly appeared before him. The words on the sign blurred the lines between dream and reality for him—

[Welcome to the Art Building!]

It was only a moment of bewildering, and he was awakened by a clanging sound, which was made by a rusty tetanus iron sheet suspended beneath the sign by a corroded iron chain.

The contents on the patch were the notices of the Art Building.

Old Mo didn’t stop but directly led Lin Yi onto the Stone Bridge.

Through the dense rain mist and pale white fog, Lin Yi could still see the huge stone pillars supporting the arch above, and beyond the arch the silhouette of the Art Building, hidden deep within the storm and the fog.

In that outline, one could vaguely see a Bell Tower and many watchtower-like structures; ancient buildings and thick stone walls intertwined, creating an ominous atmosphere that was chilling to the bone.

The dim yellow candlelight flickered through the glass, this sole warm color appeared particularly eerie and terrifying amidst the dark storm.

In the storm, Old Mo and Lin Yi walking on the Stone Bridge with two strings of big eyeballs looked like adventurers escaping a temple with their apprentice, advancing step by step.

Around them were Purebred Nightwalkers, more fanatical about Supernatural Power than the Pseudo-Human Sculptures but also more fearful of light; they dared not approach the area illuminated, just as ice and snow can never directly face the sun.

They sneaked along the periphery, driven by an Instinctual desire to lock onto Old Mo and Lin Yi, seeking any exploitable vulnerability.

Apart from Purebred Nightwalkers, there were also numerous Sneering Angels hovering around, apparently following the example of the first Sneering Angel killed by Mu Daxian; the others did not rush to act but carved various curves in the air, like seasoned Hunters targeting them, yet not rushing to strike.

Below the Stone Bridge was a cliff with sections hollowed out and filled with pillars that supported the structure, as the furious stormy tide repeatedly slammed into the cliffs and pillars as if trying to destroy them.

The salty, cold breath seemed to penetrate the storm and reach Lin Yi’s marrow, causing bouts of piercing pain.

Under the sweep of the fierce wind, the candle flames on both sides of the Stone Bridge flickered, emitting a ’whooshing’ sound as if they might extinguish at any moment.

"Whoosh—Whoosh—Whoosh—"

Amidst the tide and wind, it seemed that eerie chanting emerged, as if an evil monk holding a heretical text was chanting some musical score in Sanskrit; this strange sound was all too familiar to Lin Yi, the very chanting from the Pseudo-Human Sculptures, Nightwalkers, and Graveyard of the Deceased:

"I AvgruNnen av tåKe og... jaGer... for...Tapte Sjeler... fanTome..."

"I... Avgru...Nnen av... tåKe og jaGer... forTa...pte Sjeler fanTome..."

With the appearance of that chanting, a boundless grey mist also began to rise from the storm, as if intending to drown both him and Old Mo on the Stone Bridge.

The flying Sneering Angels seemed to grow more excited, yet still showed no intention to attack Old Mo and Lin Yi.

Just then, a distorted beam of light suddenly shot from behind him, like the Bat light Chief Gordon illuminates through the clouds in Gotham, tearing open a gap in the storm and falling upon Old Mo and Lin Yi.

"This is...!" Lin Yi was startled, turning his head quickly, he saw the Art Teacher, ’Big Golden Fur,’ standing on the top level of the Watchtower.

Indeed, from Maozi’s perspective, this direct experience allowed for a deeper impact from the scene.

The Art Teacher ’Big Golden Fur,’ holding a huge searchlight, his waterproof leather jacket rustled under the rainy night, at this moment he was not on a ship in the Caribbean Sea, but rather like Baiteman.

However, the light did not linger on them as it guarded Maozi, but quickly pointed towards a location inside the Art Building.

"Big Golden Fur has shown us the way, let’s go."

On the top level of the Watchtower, the Art Teacher ’Big Golden Fur’ looked at Lin Yi, furrowing his brows slightly, muttering to himself: "Strange, that faceless student, why does he give me a familiar feeling?"

On the Stone Bridge, Lin Yi looked at the Sneering Angels hovering nearby and whispered, "Old Mo, does the golden aura have a restraining effect on them?"

"Not exactly," Old Mo said, "The golden aura is a type of highly pure Supernatural Power. If everyone possesses it, it generally means the more you have, the stronger you are. The Sneering Angels don’t have as much golden aura as we do, so they dare not act recklessly."

"The one that previously ambushed you also tried to catch you off guard to win by surprise, so after I killed it in retaliation, the rest did not dare to act recklessly either."

"Oh, I see..." Lin Yi suddenly understood.

The two continued forward, towards the end of the Stone Bridge behind the Watchtower, heading towards a giant stone arch engraved with mysterious symbols "nailed" there.

The closer they got to the Art Building, the more ominously heavy the sky became, as if the entire world was being suppressed by a giant lead plate, so heavy that even breathing felt oppressively difficult.
