Chapter 748: Chapter 345: Arriving at the Shoreline_2
In several instances of Phantom Vision, Lin Yi had seen this speck of light before; he knew it was the exit of the dense forest.
Under Old Mo’s guidance, they drew closer and closer to the white light...
Finally, they plunged into the white light!
"Boom—"
The moment they Traversed the white light, Lin Yi’s vision and hearing were both subjected to a certain level of impact. His field of Vision was filled with a blinding white light, and a sharp, piercing sound that made his scalp tingle, "Zi—" resounded in his ears, as if he had fallen into another World.
Fortunately, the discomfort quickly dissipated, and his vision and hearing began to rapidly recover.
While his vision was still blurry, his cheeks felt the salty and damp sea breeze, and his ears heard the continuous sound of waves crashing against the rocks.
"Whoosh—BANG!!"
"Whoosh—BANG!!"
"Whoosh—"
His blurred Vision soon cleared, and he found himself on a part of the coastline.
Behind him was a dense forest, and in front of him stood a somber and oppressive, terrible scene.
The sky looked like a water-logged heavy quilt, heavily pressing down on the coastline. The clouds piled up like mountains, crowded and tumbling, filling the entire sky, with tendencies to spread downwards toward the horizon as if they were tightly wrapping the entire World.
Deep within the clouds, there were faint rays of light, almost imperceptible, pale as if lightly erased with an eraser on a chalkboard full of carbon powder.
The entire coastline exhibited a bleak and rugged demeanor, with uneven rocks protruding abruptly from the sea level, their dark brown surfaces marred by the erosive marks of time, uneven and pitted, like the wrinkled face of a weathered old man.
On the rocks remained some white sea salt crystals, twinkling under the faint light, like frost flowers congealed on withered branches in the winter morning.
The grey sand of the beach, coarse and icy, was whirled about carelessly by the sea wind, forming irregular patterns like the cracked wounds of the earth. A mixture of unidentifiable seaweed or other plant matter, along with the carcasses of unknown creatures, were washed up by the waves and lay soggy on the sands, emitting a briny, decaying Scent.
The black ocean, like a boiling cauldron, raised wave after wave, surging furiously toward the shore. Each wave carried immense power, as if venting anger, slamming against the rocks and the beach with a dull roar, like the roaring of the sea’s rage.
White foam tumbled on the crests of the waves, shattering and then rapidly being swallowed by new waves.
The sea wind howled past, sharp as a knife against the face, bringing bone-chilling cold. Tiny, moist rain threads mixed within the wind. These icy, damp threads struck the body and could penetrate clothes instantly, sending a chill to the bones.
However, after scanning around, Lin Yi did not see the Art Building.
"Where’s the Art Building?" He couldn’t help but inquire, looking towards Old Mo, not far from him.
Old Mo’s already ugly complexion grew even worse: "There has been a deviation; we did not arrive near the Art Building."
"Ah? What do we do now?" Lin Yi asked somewhat anxiously.
"It’s possible the storm has affected the stability of the Layers’ portal, as well as some other factors that have shifted our exit... It seems that the situation is worse than I thought..."
"Then..."
Old Mo waved his hand: "Don’t speak for now, let me ’lock’ onto the location... then we’ll make a direct approach."
After saying that, Old Mo fell into silence.
"A direct approach?"
Lin Yi was slightly taken aback and then noticed that Old Mo seemed to be concentrating on a certain place along the coastline.
"Eh, over there...!!"
In that direction, the sky seemed different from here!
"Pop~"
A cluster of golden flames appeared in Lin Yi’s eyes, and then his vision zoomed in rapidly towards the direction above the coastline...
Soon, he saw an enormous and terrifying storm!
In the sky, the dark clouds were like an enraged beast, rolling in with the force of a landslide. They squeezed against each other, collided, and let out a low roar. Their deep colors seemed to heap the black soil high above, constantly pushing forward.
Within the clouds, lightning streaked like sharp blades, and the ear-splitting thunder resonated throughout heaven and earth.
Every thunderclap tore the clouds into countless fragments, and white light illuminated the earth, turning the nearby world into a momentary pure whiteness.
In that pure white world, a cliff higher than the coastline was particularly eye-catching. Even more striking was the castle standing on the edge of the sheer cliff, piercing through the clouds like a blade!
"Art Building!!" Lin Yi’s pupils contracted fiercely.
"Old Mo!!!" He suddenly snapped back to reality, as the enlarged vision shattered, "Over there is the Art Building!!"
At that moment, Old Mo was intently locked onto that direction, but the storm prevented a clear confirmation of the Art Building’s presence. Hearing Lin Yi’s shout, a trace of surprise flashed in his eyes.
"Are you sure...?" Old Mo couldn’t help asking.
Lin Yi nodded vigorously: "Absolutely, I saw it!"
"You... saw·it?" It was the first time Old Mo was taken aback, looking at Lin Yi strangely, "You mean... you can see through that storm?"
"Yeah..." Lin Yi was initially not sure, but soon became confident in what he "saw with his own eyes," "I saw it, a castle, and the Watchtower, isn’t that the Art Building?"
Old Mo was deeply shocked, but he controlled his expression, calmly reflecting, "I’m beginning to understand why Boss is hesitant, if it were me, I wouldn’t want you to take risks with me either..."
"Ah?" The sudden change in Old Mo’s attitude left Lin Yi confused. Was spotting the Art Building that surprising?
Besides, hadn’t Old Mo been the first to observe it?
What Lin Yi didn’t know was that even if Old Mo was 70% sure it was the Art Building, he wouldn’t dare to gamble on the 30% chance it wasn’t.
"If that’s the case, then let’s head over." Old Mo believed Lin Yi’s words, "Come to my side!"
"Oh, coming!" Lin Yi didn’t understand Old Mo’s intention, but complied.
In his mind, at such a distance, if they rushed over, wouldn’t everything be over by then? Old Mo must have some special means of travelling; otherwise, it would be impossible.
However, Old Mo didn’t rush to depart. Instead, he took out the Scale and crushed it in his hand.
After crushing the Scale, it didn’t turn into countless fragments as Lin Yi imagined. Instead, it was like xylitol, with its surface broken but containing a soft, flexible layer of milky white gel-like substance inside.
Old Mo began to tinker with the Scale like a malt sugar artist and said, "Give me yours too, let’s squeeze out its remaining value."
Lin Yi was initially anxious, but seeing Old Mo’s eerie calm, he couldn’t help wondering, "Old Mo, aren’t we setting off yet?"
"Now that we’re sure, there’s no rush. There will be gaps in the storm, we can go then," Old Mo added, "Initially I could only wait for those gaps to appear to get a glimpse inside and then decide whether to make a move, but now... we don’t need to be so complicated."
"I’ll make some protective charms for you first." Old Mo said, starting to apply the malt sugar-like substance on Lin Yi’s face...
