Chapter 715: Chapter 329 "Holy Well" and Solidified Supernatural Power
What exactly lies deep within the Desolate Land?
Lin Yi’s gaze slowly shifted towards the depths of the Desolate Land, where the ground seemed uneven, but not in a bumpy way. Instead, it sloped toward a certain position.
At this glance, Lin Yi was suddenly taken aback.
Because the sloping land and the systematically arranged large gypsum bodies seemed to form a strange matrix. Those coming and going Zealots moved like modules within the matrix, constantly editing the entirety of it.
If, if this really is a kind of matrix, then it really isn’t impossible.
After all, whether Zealots and Pseudo-Human Art Students are of the same nature with different names, or something with deeper levels of Contamination than Pseudo-Human Art Students, Lin Yi did not know.
And it’s hard to determine anything from just one observation of what the Desolate Land arranges into something akin to a Stonehenge formation.
Suddenly, Lin Yi’s Vision blurred, and then it quickly zoomed into the depths of the Desolate Land, as if triggering the "Field of View Insight."
His field of vision blurred, and everything around became particle-like effects, with only the scenery at the center of the Desolate Land becoming clear.
In the center of the Desolate Land, Lin Yi saw a sprawling crevice.
This crevice, much like a miniature meteorite crater, had ferocious cracks at the edges that spread wildly in all directions like the claws of a Demon.
These cracks varied in width, some wide enough to swallow a person whole, others narrow enough to fit a thick branch, deeply embedded in the soil like wounds torn open by the agony of the earth struggling, or like ancient giant beasts leaving angry scars on the surface.
In the center of the crevice, a pitch-black pit seemed like a gateway to the endless darkness of Hell, devouring any light that came near mercilessly.
It has existed quietly for untold years, exuding a chilling Breath, making one involuntarily ponder terrifying thoughts about what ancient secrets or fears might be hidden in that darkness.
Suddenly, some Zealots entered into his field of view, wandering around the area filled with ferocious cracks at the edge of the crevice, holding empty peculiar containers, kneeling there like devout Believers welcoming holy water from heaven.
However, no scene of heavenly holy water appeared, only some viscous milky-white paste occasionally oozing out of the cracks, like squeezing pimples.
The Zealots were overjoyed, eagerly catching this paste-like substance with their containers.
This substance emerged slowly, flowing like resin and accompanied by very pure grey Mist.
This Grey Mist lingered briefly over the dark crevice then dispersed into the surrounding area, gradually diluting into the surrounding space.
The Zealots, like those with advantage by the water pavilion, got to enjoy the first "rich" Breath before the Grey Mist thinned.
They inhaled deeply, revealing under their hoods vaguely visible faces that were sickly, twisted, frenzied, yet filled with joyful color.
Once the containers were mostly full, the Zealots reluctantly stopped inhaling the Grey Mist and stood up with the containers, walking unhurriedly towards the large gypsum bodies.
Lin Yi’s vision continued to change, seemingly drawn by the crevice, hearing some strange sounds...
That was an ethereal howling sound, with no clear direction, seeming to rise from All Directions at once, as if an invisible vortex had been stuffed into the crevice.
But at times, this ethereal sound became deep and oppressive, as if it wanted to engulf all life.
Between the wind and other sounds, one could hear a faint whispering voice. The voice was very weak, as if someone was whispering something from afar, but upon closer listening, it felt as if the voice was right by one’s ear.
Those whispering sounds were unclear, like an ancient and mysterious language, filled with curses and resentments, chilling to the bone, yet unable to escape the eerie sounds lingering in the ears...
It sounded much like the pained screams mixed in distant flute music, yet there was a difference in that the sounds from the crevice seemed more purposeful.
Lin Yi pondered in his heart: "The cracks in the crevice seem to produce some kind of ’Raw materials,’ and these large gypsum bodies appear to be the result of the continuous accumulation of that paste-like material..."
If so, what exactly lies beneath this crevice that can produce gypsum?
"Wait... No!"
What is gypsum?
Isn’t gypsum just unprocessed sculpture?
And sculptures... "living" sculptures turn into white powdery particles after "dying," eventually turning into Breath that is diluted into the air...
"Doesn’t that mean, this crevice is actually some kind of ’device’ that purifies and compresses the Contamination in the air into a substance?"
At least functionally speaking, that is the case.
