Chapter 576: Chapter 261: Let Them Destroy Themselves
"Woo-hoo~~~" Wei Liang called out with a grin, "Time to close up! Window No. 3 is no longer serving!"
He cheaply waved his hands, shooing away the Experience Students lined up behind like herding ducks.
Some Experience Students really were chased away by him, but many more were expressionless, numb Experience Students who were unmoved by his actions.
Seeing this, Wei Liang didn’t waste words. He picked up the tray and walked to the card reader, then grinned at Lin Yi and gave a thumbs up, "You led a great team!"
Lin Yi chuckled, "You guys caught on well."
"Everyone finished?" Wei Liang glanced at the card reader.
"Just waiting on you," Lin Yi shrugged.
"Alright." Wei Liang swiped his card at lightning speed, and then the four of them didn’t even look for a table. Instead, they marched in lockstep toward the utensil return station.
This dish, in fact, was not fried chicken tenders but scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
After dumping their food, Lin Yi turned to the others and asked, "Are we still going?"
"We’ve come this far, ordered, and dumped, of course we’re going," Wei Liang shrugged.
Tian Bufan also said, "Noon is the safest time; it would be absurd not to eat now."
"Then let’s go," Lin Yi said.
The group then queued up at Window No. 4 and ordered another meal.
And until then, there was still a long queue at Window No. 3.
Wei Liang did chase away some Experience Students, but the number was limited and only included those nearby; those further back continued to advance.
"Were you trying to save them?" Lin Yi asked.
Wei Liang was taken aback: "Huh? Save? I don’t understand at all! That guy posing as Li Huiyuan can’t even recognize his own food, how could he continue to run the place? I was just telling the truth!"
Wei Liang silently continued to queue.
Lin Yi’s mind hadn’t quite caught up when Tian Bufan leaned in and explained softly, "Wei Liang probably feared that it would rebuild its anchor point using the cognition of the people behind it, and that’s why he started the commotion to disperse them..."
Upon hearing this, Lin Yi suddenly realized.
Tian Bufan’s tone then shifted to a hint of coldness as he glanced at the line at Window No. 3 and continued, "Old Lin, your thoughts just now were very dangerous."
"Don’t talk about ’saving people’ anymore; we can hardly save ourselves. Don’t even think about ’saving people’...
"Wei Liang’s approach is the right one, using every unit to its fullest advantage, that’s the law of survival."
"As for the so-called rescue, it’s just an incidental effect. Given their inability to discern safety, even if they avoid danger now, they’re doomed sooner or later."
"Besides, you might save them temporarily, but can you save them for a lifetime?"
"Respect their fate, let them perish on their own," Tian Bufan said indifferently.
Lin Yi opened his mouth, but for some reason, he found nothing to counter Tian Bufan’s words, and... he didn’t want to.
Perhaps because he subconsciously accepted it, he felt surprised by Wei Liang’s actions, which on the surface seemed like an attempt to save others.
He silently nodded in agreement, saying, "As the saying goes, kill the ’holier-than-thou’ first in an apocalypse."
"As long as you understand," Tian Bufan nodded, then followed the line to the front and simply ordered a regular lunch with both meat and vegetables.
After Lin Yi ordered his meal and swiped his card, the group casually found a spot to sit.
But as Lin Yi carried his food tray in the Student Cafeteria, he suddenly felt an eerie sensation, as if something was watching him.
He then slightly turned his body, pretending to casually greet Wei Shan beside him, but in reality, his peripheral vision scanned the area.
Upon looking, he immediately spotted a few people sitting together in the shadowy area of the cafeteria, including the Sailor Uniform girl Zhang Linzhen, a Pseudo-human Art Student in the form of a penguin, and a Bandaged Pseudo-human Art Student.
What was eerie was that none of these people seemed to focus on him, yet he felt starkly observed.
One thing he was sure of, these people had definitely noticed him; whether he was being targeted remained to be verified.
Ling Yi and his group quickly found a table with empty seats, then they sloppily finished their meals.
Just before they finished, he glanced at his watch.
11:23.
"What time is it?" Tian Bufan asked when he saw him checking.
"11:23," Lin Yi said, then added, "We still have plenty of time, shall we... stock up a bit?"
As soon as he finished, everyone’s focus shifted to Wei Liang, who was busy eating.
The air thickened slightly, and then, as if realizing something, Wei Liang silently raised his head, his eyes peeking innocently from under the brim of his cap and between the plates as if they were giant clams.
"Alright, alright..." Wei Liang shrugged helplessly, "Everyone’s here, we’ve all eaten, and we’re free anyway, of course, we’re going... I get it, okay!"
He then hurriedly gobbled up the last few bites of his meal and said, "Everyone finished?"
"All done, let’s go," Lin Yi said.
Wei Liang conscientiously picked up his tray, "Old rule, I’ll lead the way..."
"Old rule, I’ll cover the rear," Wei Shan replied.
