Chapter 314: Chapter 146 Cafeteria Lights Flicker
This tomato was tantalizingly ripe and plump, as if exuding a fresh breath and a light, fresh fragrance, but in Lin Yi’s eyes, the outline of the tomato suddenly blurred, as if it was casting some sort of double image behind it.
And within that double image was the silhouette of a heart.
"Damn."
Lin Yi cursed under his breath and decisively looked away.
However, the other person laughed, "Hungry? Want to eat some of my food?"
Before the words were finished, Lin Yi heard the friction of a plate sliding across the table next to his ear; his heart tightened, but he quickly realized that the person wasn’t addressing him but was speaking to Li Huiyuan instead.
Li Huiyuan looked at the plate in front of her; her hair stood on end.
In front of her was a plate of spaghetti with tomato meat sauce and a tomato on the side.
Her pupils shrank slightly, and subconsciously, her gaze moved upward, looking at the person sitting across from her.
Apart from a complexion that was unnaturally pale, that person seemed no different from a normal Experience Student.
If anything was notable, it was that he wore a pair of glasses. But for some reason, whether it was the reflective lenses or something else, his eyes seemed to carry a cold, pale gold gleam.
"Art Student? No... not a normal Art Student!" Lin Yi had a strange induction and immediately determined that this fellow wasn’t the type of Art Student like Mu Daxian, but something akin to the eerie Art Students that appeared at the school gate amidst the thick mist.
The eerie Art Student glanced at the table with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, yet his gaze seemed to penetrate beneath the table, his mouth curling into an unnatural, rigid smirk:
"Heh... If you don’t want to eat, then don’t. Why bother acting like this?"
After saying that, it pulled the plate back in front of itself, took a bite of the tomato, then drizzled the tomato juice over the spaghetti, which was already covered in a lot of tomato sauce.
"Oh yes, your doing... It will only hasten your journey." After saying this, it proceed to eat noisily.
Li Huiyuan didn’t answer, instead she slowly sipped her yogurt as if the small box of yogurt would never run out.
Beneath that table, her fists were clenched tightly, her slightly long nails already piercing into her palms.
Just now, it was this pain that she used to twist her will back into control.
But this was clearly not a solution.
Blood seeped from the wounds in her palms, releasing a faint smell of blood. When the first drop of blood hit the floor, Lin Yi suddenly felt as if something had struck his chest...
"Thump!"
Lin Yi, who was in the midst of eating, suddenly felt a frightening sensation.
Immediately afterward, the vision before his eyes twisted, the exposure quality of a black-and-white photograph once again dominated his sight; the table in front of him turned into transparent black-and-white lines, and through the table, he saw a streak of green breath!
That green breath came from a droplet of blood on the ground.
It was Li Huiyuan’s blood!
Li Huiyuan’s blood released a "clearly visible" green mist like a flare in the night; it diffused and then converged into green powder particles, spreading out like pollen.
Then, some of the non-human students who were dining in the Student Cafeteria simultaneously became still and then turned their heads in unison, directing their gaze towards Li Huiyuan.
Afterward, some of the non-human students began to rise from their tables, moving towards their table like rigid puppets.
These non-human students were surrounded by a faint green mist, something he hadn’t been able to observe before.
But Lin Yi had no time to focus on these details and quickly looked towards Li Huiyuan instead.
Upon looking, he immediately noticed blood slowly oozing from the palm of her hand, the blood in his vision appearing a clearly visible green, continually seeping out green mist.
"Blood from the Polluted... has a strong attraction for Nocturnal species!"
Lin Yi realized this instantly, quickly scraped up the last morsel of food, then picked up his plate and left the table.
"Li Huiyuan, follow me!" he commanded.
Li Huiyuan quickly followed and the two of them headed towards the area where trays were returned, one after the other.
The non-human students also changed course, pursuing them.
Only the eerie Art Student remained seated at the table, leisurely eating the spaghetti with tomato meat sauce.
Suddenly, the eerie Art Student seemed to sense something, a sharp light flashing in its eyes.
"Aiya... Truly ’blessed with good fortune,’ aren’t you?"
It finished the last bite of its spaghetti with tomato meat sauce, then slowly stood up while staring at the retreating figures of Lin Yi and Li Huiyuan, revealing a chilling sneer.
Before his words faded away, nearly all the incandescent lights in the Cafeteria flickered in an instant...
Lin Yi, who had just arrived at the tray return area, was jolted by this phenomenon. Subconsciously, he wanted to look up at the incandescent lights. However, he restrained this impulse and used the reflection on the tray to observe the lights.
All the incandescent lights in the Cafeteria were now flickering erratically, their flickering was terrifyingly rapid, as if the energy source sustaining their illumination was disrupted by some irresistible factor, causing them to blink on and off.
[If flickering lights occur in the Student Cafeteria, please leave immediately! Without delay! Use the Student Passage to exit the Cafeteria at all costs!]
