Chapter 308: Chapter 143 Words of the Blue Pocket Chef

Lin Yi withdrew his gaze from the outer wall of the cafeteria and looked around.

The cafeteria area was now packed with Experience Students, both familiar and unfamiliar faces crowded together. The number was indeed substantial, all waiting like hungry chicks for the cafeteria to open.

Although it was said that the cafeteria never closed, no one dared to enter the Student Passage ahead of time. Everyone was obediently waiting at the entrance to the Student Passage.

Lin Yi glanced down at his watch.

15:59.

Less than a minute remained until the cafeteria opened.

Just then, he suddenly heard a pleading voice nearby, intermittent and carried to his ears on the wind.

The voice... was coming from another passage.

Lin Yi looked in the direction of the voice and saw a girl collapsed at the entrance to another passage, trying to grasp Xu Shunkang’s sleeve, and pleading desperately for something.

"That girl...?" A flicker of recognition crossed Lin Yi’s eyes; it was Pan Jian’s female companion, the same girl who had said this morning that digital cameras carried an ominous omen.

Lin Yi quickly picked up some information from that pleading voice. Essentially, the girl was terrified, finding life in the school area horrifying and uncomfortable, hoping that Xu Shunkang would take her through the other passage into the Student Cafeteria, and she said things like "she only trusts Sports Students," "begging Sports Students to help her," and so on...

Lin Yi sighed inwardly. That morning, the person was just highly tense, extremely sensitive, and fearful of the outside world. But as the day went on, she now seemed somewhat neurotic. Although she still held a Student ID card, it seemed her will had already been broken.

"Hey, she hasn’t missed breakfast and lunch, has she?" Lin Yi suddenly realized. Li Huiyuan and Pan Jian, they were the ones he had met only after he had dinner and went back to the classroom last night.

Before that, when he returned to the classroom from the gym, he hadn’t seen them yet!

That meant they hadn’t had dinner... and this morning, only a limited number of people had gone out for breakfast, and some hadn’t even seen the sun today.

And... that girl, in Lin Yi’s memory, seemed to have never left the classroom.

"So, is this her first time coming to the cafeteria to eat since she enrolled? And it’s her first time in 24 hours!"

Lin Yi squinted his eyes all of a sudden.

Even though the rules for Experience Students didn’t explicitly state, as the Art Student Rules did, that students must go to the cafeteria for a meal within 24 hours, but... judging from Wei Liang’s previous visit, consistently not eating in the cafeteria was sure to cause problems.

Having realized this, Lin Yi suddenly developed a curious interest in the girl. He wanted to know what would happen to her next... an anticipation.

"Maybe... I can observe the boundaries of the rules through her perspective."

"Wait a minute!"

Just as this thought occurred to him, a sudden shudder ran through his mind.

This thrill was not because he had an induction of something, but rather a reaction to his self-awareness: "Did I just regard her like a lab rat?!"

For that highly unstable girl, he no longer felt any compassion; instead, thoughts like "let’s see what will happen to this girl," "how she will be contaminated," had taken its place.

He felt a surge of panic and disquiet about the indifference and coldness that had surfaced from his subconsciousness towards others’ life and death, followed by fear and horror.

"Is this really my own thought?"

"Could it be that I was so shocked by Young Master Tian’s idea of ’using others as chess pieces to test the rules’ that I developed similar thoughts subconsciously?"

At that moment, the Sports Student in front of the other passage didn’t bother to entangle with the girl further, directly ignored her and entered the other passage. Then, the girl scrambled up from the ground and, as if making a firm decision, clenched her teeth and followed the Sports Students into the other passage.

But before she could enter, one of the Sports Students impatiently ejected her, and from a great distance, Lin Yi heard the cursing from the Sports Student: "Can’t you understand human language? Students go through the Student Passage! Get lost!"

After being thrown out, the girl’s emotions exploded, and she sat down on the ground, crying.

Li Huiyuan also noticed the situation there, with a trace of empathy appearing on her face. But as thoughts began to form in her mind, Lin Yi’s words coldly snapped her back to reality: "A clay Buddha crossing a river cannot save itself, let alone meddle in others’ affairs."

"Time’s up, let’s go in."

He glanced at his watch.

16:01.

One minute had passed, wasted on observing the girl.

And in just that one minute, some of the Experience Students around Lin Yi had already entered the Student Passage.

After he finished speaking, Li Huiyuan obediently nodded her head and followed them into the Student Passage.

Just as they entered the Student Passage, Lin Yi suddenly felt something and glanced towards the west, then involuntarily narrowed his eyes.
