Chapter 220: Chapter 103: The Night Watchman in the Storm

"Forget it... At least I know Old Lin’s predicament, and he knows I’m still alive..."

"As long as Old Lin is alright..."

"Oh..."

"Old Lin, Old Lin, time is limited, you really need to ’adapt’ sooner..."

Mao Feiyang glanced at the sky, which was now swirling with vortex-like thunderclouds; the cracks that had appeared earlier had vanished as if they were mere illusions.

He picked up the paper and set up the easel again, but as he looked at the discarded palette, the paint buckets he had kicked away, and the paint all over the floor, he couldn’t help but rub his temples with a headache.

"Did I really do all this...?"

"It must have been Old Lin, right? It has to be him... Only he would do something like this."

"Tch... my head hurts, my head hurts..."

He sat down on the ground, resting his chin in his hands as he looked at the paper, and he shook his head and sighed helplessly.

"Come on! You’re the one who did all this, right? Do I have to take the blame for this crap?!" As Lin Yi watched from Mao Feiyang’s first-person perspective, he saw every move Mao Feiyang made, and now, hearing him shift the blame, Lin Yi couldn’t help but stomp his feet in frustration.

But he suddenly realized something—when he had heard Mao Feiyang talking to himself just now, Mao Feiyang hadn’t actually opened his mouth!

That meant he was hearing... Mao Feiyang’s thoughts?

"Boom..."

"Boom..."

Thunder rumbled in the sky, and Mao Feiyang faintly felt droplets falling on his cheeks.

He touched his face subconsciously and then realized it wasn’t seawater: "Raindrops... is it going to rain?"

Just then, he noticed a beam of light hitting the spire behind his watchtower. He followed the source of the light and saw another watchtower, barely visible in a corner of a castle shrouded in mist.

Someone was shining a light beam like a night watchman in a sea harbor lighthouse, alerting other art students like him who were painting or doing other activities across watchtowers.

Mao Feiyang turned around and saw that Mu Daxian and the art student who had been beside him were already gone, leaving only two easels with two pieces of paper smeared with unattractive clumps of paint shivering in the sea breeze...

"Ah, what...?"

Just as he was speechless, Mu Daxian and the art student burst out of the passageway, swiftly packing up the easels.

"A storm’s coming, Classmate Mao, it’s going to be rough!" Mu Daxian helped Mao Feiyang pack up the stand and went to pick up the palette and buckets of paint not far away.

"The paint doesn’t matter, but we need to secure the equipment!"

As they packed, their actions were smooth and efficient, and they managed to get back inside the passageway before the storm hit.

The moment they closed the door, thunder and wind spread across the dark sky like a spiderweb, and when the first drops of rain splattered down like a waterline, the rest of the storm fell like an army charging.

"Whoosh—Boom!"

"Whoosh—Boom!"

"Whoosh—Boom..."

The stormy sea churned with huge waves, like a raging giant beast howling as it struck the shore.

The sky was filled with dark clouds, and lightning streaked across the sky, accompanied by thunder as if the entire sky were roaring.

The intense storm roared, twisting the trees and grass on the rocks around the castle.

The dense rain swept the world, forming an endless curtain of water.

Waves beat against the rocks, splashing water mixed with huge raindrops, forming a blurred mist.

The storm’s sand grains whipped in the wind like blades, hitting people’s faces painfully. The sea became turbulent and surged, accompanied by a loud noise, crashing toward the shore.

Under this rampant natural force, all life seemed trivial.

The gloomy sky swallowed the last of the light; the candlelight on the stone bridge grew dim, leaving only darkness and the surging sea in this realm.

In such a downpour, the spilled paint on the watchtower was quickly washed away clean, merging into streams and flowing down the castle’s drains off the cliff.

Beneath the cliff, the corpses of rotten fish and shrimp were splashed by the rain, churning up even more disgusting stench as if stirring up a ghoul’s feast...

On this stormy night, the sea became a chaotic domain in the darkness, making all life feel despair, powerlessness, insignificance, and fear.

...

From the window above the bell tower, the splashing rainwater streamed down like thin silver lines.

The glass windows clattered in the storm, as if they could shatter at any moment.

The sharp howling wind chased through the crevices of the bell tower, bringing bursts of icy chill.

The inner spiral staircase of the bell tower creaked with the vibrations of the storm; the dim light was swallowed by the darkness woven with wind and rain.

The inside of the bell tower was filled with a damp and melancholic breath; the ancient murals on the walls blurred under the rainwater, and the past glory seemed to fade away in the storm.

The art students hurriedly avoided the area around the bell tower, shivering in the cold wind. Their faces bore expressions of panic and worry, as if there was a mysterious and tense connection between them and the bell tower, possibly heralding a tragedy at any moment.

However, even in the storm, the bell tower stood tall, seemingly the last brilliance in the castle, a symbol and witness of relics from a bygone era.

"Hum..."
