Chapter 126: Chapter 58: The Mist-Filled Student Passage (Additional 1100 Words)

Lin Yi opened his mouth, but ultimately decided to hold back from further questioning.

The Sports Student glanced at the Student Passage and warned, "It’s getting late, you should hurry up and leave... Otherwise, once the mist rises, you won’t be able to get out of the Cafeteria."

After speaking, he walked along the edge of the Cafeteria towards another passage with his plastered arm in tow.

"Mist?" Lin Yi was stunned and looked in the direction the Sports Student had just glanced, freezing on the spot.

Somehow a layer of mist had enveloped the Student Passage; though not very thick, under the illumination of the incandescent lights, the passage looked as steamy as a bathhouse.

The nearby stairs were still visible, but the middle and rear sections gradually extended into the mist, becoming unclear.

As for the exit, it was even blurrier, only a dark shadow visible, like a giant with its mouth wide open blocking the way. From here, even with the light of the incandescent lamps, it was impossible to make out anything clearly.

Lin Yi hesitated...

His instinct told him that if he ventured into the Student Passage alone today, he might enter but never come out.

He had previously gotten lost on the way to the Gymnasium, so now who knew where this passage might lead.

"Why hasn’t Liangzi come out yet?" he muttered.

Just as this thought emerged in his mind, the plastic wind curtain behind him was suddenly flung open, and Wei Liang rushed out gasping for air, patting Lin Yi’s shoulder while catching his breath:

"Old Lin, are you okay? I just saw it! Did you learn Qinggong or something? How did you sprint so fast, I couldn’t even keep up!"

He continued to pant heavily while speaking.

Feeling the hot breath almost spraying on his ears, Lin Yi felt somewhat relieved.

"You saw it?!" Lin Yi exclaimed in surprise.

"Saw it!" Wei Liang nodded seriously, "A few unkempt chefs suddenly sprang out from somewhere, then crazily rushed at you, and then I saw you vanish in a flash!"

"Did you see what was behind me?" Lin Yi asked.

"Yeah!" Wei Liang said, "A chef, looked like one wearing a green apron! I saw him chase you to the door where someone hit him, and then he ran off!"

Lin Yi breathed a sigh of relief but still felt puzzled. Wei Liang saw him being chased, but he himself seemed to have escaped unscathed; how could that be?

But Wei Liang seemed to be only recounting what he had witnessed.

"Glad to see you’re alright," Wei Liang said with relief, "Why are you still frowning?"

Lin Yi shook his head, "It’s nothing."

Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly asked, "White Silk Lolita has three virtues!"

Wei Liang was taken aback.

Then, looking at him with a strange expression, "Uh... lithe, soft body easy to... knock down?"

"Are you okay?" He reached out and touched Lin Yi’s forehead.

"I’m fine, I’m fine, just testing a code phrase to see if you’re really you." Lin Yi shook his head.

"I thought you had switched from the Black Silk Goddess Cult to my White Silk Lolita Cult..." Wei Liang murmured under his breath.

Lin Yi twitched the corner of his mouth, decided not to continue this topic, and quickly got back to the point:

"Liangzi, we need to hurry up, the passage is getting foggy."

Upon hearing this, Wei Liang looked startled, then quickly glanced into the Student Passage, instinctively got scared, cursed, and then seemed to realize something, patting his chest to reassure Lin Yi:

"Oh my god, you scared me! Don’t panic, don’t panic, this level of fog is normal, a small matter..."

"Oh?" Lin Yi looked at Wei Liang curiously, "Is that so?"

"A few dozen meters of visibility and you panic, come on, just follow me." Though Wei Liang said this, his eyes clearly revealed a hint of worry, "Come on, if we don’t leave now, it’ll really be too late once the fog thickens."

"But..." Lin Yi hesitated, "doesn’t the student code say... in case of abnormalities and foggy weather, the first thing to do is to find the nearest building and take shelter?"

"While that’s true, Old Lin, look..." Wei Liang pointed to other areas, "This isn’t ’abnormal weather’ you know!"

Lin Yi looked puzzled, following Wei Liang’s direction.

He saw —

The sun had already set, and the campus was enveloped in darkness, all vegetation looking like distorted human figures, thin mist snaking menacingly from between the mountains and forests.

Yet, despite this, the view wasn’t particularly blurred...

Other areas had mist, but not much of it.

Only the Student Passage, perhaps due to a design flaw, had already accumulated a thick layer of mist as soon as it got dark.

Clearly — this didn’t comply with the student code’s description of abnormal weather.

"Old Lin, you’re getting jumpy over nothing," Wei Liang reassured, "Don’t worry, I’ve walked this Student Passage many times before, I know it well, just put your hand on my shoulder, I’ll guide you."

Without hesitation, Lin Yi nodded, "Okay."

"Let’s go!" Wei Liang led the way.

Lin Yi placed his hand on his shoulder, and glanced at his watch.

18:20.

The two of them entered the Student Passage together.

...

On a pillar of the Student Cafeteria, the green-aproned chef’s fractured arm had disappeared, replaced by an identical sculpture, entirely crafted from plaster, of that very arm.

The arm sculpture was lifelike, with even the slight raise of veins visible on the back of the hand, and at the fracture, it even maintained a dripping gesture with blood-like stone sculptures.
