Chapter 106: Chapter 49 Boss is Mighty_2

Because the distance was too far, he couldn’t even see clearly whether it was the Sports Student’s blue and white tracksuit, or just the normal clothes of a regular student!

"Don’t run... Tomato... eat tomatoes..."

The moment he heard the eerie call coming from behind him, interrupted and weird, his hair stood on end. In a critical moment, his thoughts whirled, and then... he cast his gaze towards the entrance of the women’s changing room.

["Unless it’s absolutely necessary, if you dare to come in, I’ll break your legs."]

The words Boss had said to him when they first arrived at the Swimming Hall flashed through his mind, and without a second thought, he dashed right in!

Isn’t this exactly the kind of dire situation he was talking about?

Boss is the boss, always anticipating situations like this!

Still, he feared stumbling upon some awkward scenes, so the moment he charged in, he yelled, "Boss, save me! Something filthy is chasing me—"

Before he could finish—

’Whoosh—’

A nimble figure shot out from the women’s changing room, brushing past him with a strong whooshing sound!

He could vaguely make out a blue and white towel in his field of vision, while a unique, subtle fragrance lingered in his nostrils...

Then, a loud ’Bang—’ followed from behind him.

It was the sound of metal clashing with stone, the powerful shockwave even made his hair feel the impact...

"Boss...?!" He instinctively wanted to look back.

"Don’t look, stay in the changing room until I call you out." Boss’s voice, cool and forceful, carried an undeniable authority, like a pair of invisible hands holding Lin Yi’s neck, keeping him from turning his gaze.

"Understood, understood." Lin Yi quickened his pace and walked through a hazy corner into the women’s changing room.

There was indeed nobody left in the women’s changing room, and he thought maybe he and Boss were the last two people in the Swimming Hall.

But that thought was fleeting; concern for Boss soon filled his mind again.

It seemed like Boss had directly engaged with the Green Hat Pocket Chef...

But... aside from the initial loud and dull collision sound, there seemed to be no other noise outside.

He glanced at his watch.

16:08.

He had started showering at 15:53, and though he thought getting dried and dressed would be quick, it turned out to drag on for over ten minutes.

However... considering the time wrestling with the Green Hat Pocket Chef, it seemed somewhat understandable.

’Speaking of which... it must be mealtime at the Cafeteria by now...’

He tried not to think about Boss and the Green Hat Pocket Chef.

But before 16:10, the sound of footsteps came from behind him—the distinct "squelch squelch" of bare feet on the wet, slip-resistant floor.

It was the sound of human footsteps.

"Boss...?" He tentatively called out.

He felt it was Boss, because his subconscious didn’t trigger any sense of danger.

A brisk figure brushed past him, carrying a fragrant breeze.

"Wait for me at the entrance."

Boss said coolly.

"What about that Green Hat Pocket Chef?" Lin Yi asked quietly.

"Took care of him." Boss slowly turned around, furrowing her brow slightly, "Go wait outside, if you make me say it a third time, I’ll talk with my feet."

Lin Yi instinctively glanced at her feet...

He suddenly realized that Boss was also wrapped in a blue and white towel at the moment, with hints of a long leg, half-hidden and half-revealed beneath the towel’s edge, glistening with droplets of water...

He noticed droplets of water on Boss’s hair and arms as well...

Was Boss... apparently... still in the middle of a shower...?

To take so long...?

"Oh?" Boss raised an eyebrow, her bare foot lifting slightly.

"Boss is magnificent! I’m going out to wait now!" Lin Yi said quickly, then turned and fled from the women’s changing room.

That one kick seemed to have instantly taken out a Green Hat Pocket Chef.

And she had done it barefoot...

Such a kick was definitely more than he could handle.

Looking at Lin Yi fleeing in panic, Boss couldn’t help but squint her eyes and murmured:

"Even after squeezing every drop out, how could it still be like this..."

She turned around and entered the bathing area, and soon after, the sound of running water accompanied by mist filled the air...

...

May 7th, X023, 16:20, Swimming Hall exit.

Boss changed into a loose blue and white tracksuit and a pair of white sneakers, shouldering a large black backpack, and walked out from the women’s changing room.

She tilted her head slightly, holding a blue and white towel in her hands, wiping her waterfall-like, shiny, black hair that cascaded over her shoulders.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," she said flatly.

"Waiting for ten minutes does feel a bit long..." Lin Yi muttered to himself, but quickly added, "Ah, not long, not long at all."

As Lin Yi spoke, he retracted his gaze that was scanning the surroundings.

He hadn’t found the "corpse" of the green-aproned Pocket Chef at all.

"Stop looking, I’ve taken care of it all," Boss stated, "If you really want to find him, he will eventually come looking for you."

"Eh..." Lin Yi shuddered, goosebumps forming on his arms, "I’d rather not think about it, I don’t dare."

A faint curve touched the corners of Boss’s mouth, and then she said, "Let’s go, I’ll walk you out of the Gymnasium."

"It’s time for dinner, let’s eat quickly before the sun sets, and then head to the Teaching Building to stay put."

"Oh... thanks, Boss," Lin Yi stopped dwelling on the Pocket Chef and quickly followed Boss toward the Gymnasium’s main entrance.

"I remember, you said you joined the school yesterday evening," Boss suddenly asked, and then added, "17:53?"

"Uh... yes," Lin Yi was surprised; Boss even remembered the time.

Boss pondered, "Yesterday evening, the fog rolled in on campus, and there was a heavy rain at night... did you make it to the Teaching Building before it rained?"

"Yes," Lin Yi nodded.

"Did you encounter a Security Guard?"

Lin Yi paused, then quickly said, "Yes..."

"Just as I thought..." Boss slightly nodded, "Without the Security Guard, with your ’sensitivity,’ it might not have just been a walk to the Teaching Building..."

At these words, Lin Yi was taken aback, but he soon remembered how he accidentally took that nonexistent path on his way to the Gymnasium, and he understood the implication in Boss’s words.

But from her meaning... unusual weather... could it be similar to the sea breeze?

Or even more terrifying?

He suddenly thought of something and quickly added, "By the way, Boss, before I reached the Teaching Building, I felt a few drops of rain on my face..."

As he spoke, he observed Boss’s face for her reaction.

But Boss remained composed: "I figured as much."

"Besides that, did you encounter anything strange in the mist?"

"Boss... you didn’t want to know earlier, did you?" Lin Yi softly repeated for confirmation, "Are you sure... you ’can know’?"

Boss glanced at him sideways: "I asked, so you answer."

"But slow down the pace of your speech, I might interrupt you at any moment."

"Of course, Boss," Lin Yi nodded and then began, "I encountered the green-aproned Pocket Chef in the mist..."

Boss’s steps momentarily paused. Then, with a rare hint of surprise in her narrowed eyes, she said, "You encountered Green Hat just after entering the school?"

"Green Hat...?" Lin Yi’s eyebrow twitched. If it’s Green Hat, then so be it...

"Yes... he also asked me if I wanted to eat Tomato Sauce Pasta," Lin Yi replied.

"It asks that to everyone," Boss said unperturbed, "But I am curious, it didn’t attack you directly... The Security Guard was nearby when you encountered it, right?"

Lin Yi explained, "Right... when we saw the Security Guard, he seemed to be leading the blue-aproned chef, and the green-aproned chef was mixed in with the white-aproned chefs."

"At that time, they were probably ’delivering meals’..." Boss mused, "The Tomato Sauce Pasta wasn’t meant for you, encountering you must have been by chance..."

"It seems... some class’s homeroom teacher ended up with that Tomato Sauce Pasta; I wonder if they ate it or not."

"Speaking of that..." Lin Yi timidly raised his hand, "I might know who ended up with that Tomato Sauce Pasta."

At that moment, he could distinctly feel a slight twitch at the corner of Boss’s mouth.

Boss looked at him with an odd expression, her eyes seeming to say one thing—

How come you, kid, keep running into all these crazy situations?
