An Angel Lives in the Academy
Chapter 139: The Angel Who Goes on a Date (4)

“Wh-What?”

Soya, still furious, glared at the Rainmaker, but… the Rainmaker, as if she were invisible, strode toward Leffrey.

‘The Rainmaker. Jonathan. A traitor of humanity.’

If he was going to side with the demon king, then he had to be judged. But would Leffrey even be able to judge him…?

‘I don’t know. Although Jonathan is the best item creator, he wasn’t exactly a master combat alchemist, but…’

But there’s a saying in this world: ‘item power’. And the Rainmaker was the one who possessed the best item power, at least among the people Leffrey knew.

The Rainmaker, forgetting even basic manners, reached out to touch Leffrey's golden hair as if mesmerized.

“My, my I’ve never seen such beauty before.”

He reached out to stroke Leffrey’s golden hair, his body trembling at its silky, smooth texture.

Soya, seeing that, didn’t get angry. Instead, she was truly disgusted and began to cast black magic.

“So he’s not a black magic hater, but just a crazy pervert. Leffrey, move away.”

“Soya. Stop it.”

“Why?”

Leffrey raised his hand to stop Soya, then looked back at Jonathan.

“Jonathan, I mean, the Rainmaker, is the owner of this brand. He’s an incredibly wealthy and powerful man. Making things escalate would be troublesome.”

Leffrey said gently,

“I’ll take care of it.”

“You, you’re acting like an adult again? Even though you're shorter than me now…”

Soya grumbled in a small voice. Leffrey, looking at Soya, sank into thought.

The Rainmaker’s items.

Recalling just how powerful the demon army had become after acquiring them…

The Rainmaker’s sins were so great that even if he died a hundred deaths and apologized in each one of them, it wouldn’t be enough to atone. However.

‘But the Rainmaker hasn’t committed those sins yet. And his ability to craft items is definitely a benefit to humanity.’

He couldn’t judge him for crimes he hadn't even committed yet. And if he could keep the Rainmaker on humanity’s side, it would slightly increase the chances of this world’s survival.

‘Besides, seeing how smitten he is with me, I should be able to control him somehow.’

As the Rainmaker, as if possessed, reached out to touch Leffrey’s cheeks, Leffrey swatted his hand away.

“That’s rude of you, Mr. Jonathan. It’s not right to casually touch someone else’s body.”

“…Ah.”

The Rainmaker, hearing Leffrey’s cold tone, finally seemed to snap out of his daze and took a step back.

“And apologize to Soya.”

“…Apologize? For what? And who’s Soya? That girl with the bizarre fashion sense, is that Soya?”

“Apologize for speaking to her like that.”

The Rainmaker, a middle-aged man with slicked-back brown hair who looked incredibly arrogant, muttered as if making an excuse,

“Ah, so my aesthetic sense offended you? There are always those kinds of uncultured people.”

He flaunted his coat, then continued,

“Of course, I’m not saying that you’re uncultured. Definitely not. I'm just saying there are such people. And by the way… You are truly beautiful. Unbelievable.”

He then stared intently at Leffrey once again. Leffrey, feeling uncomfortable, shook his head and said,

“Soya, let’s go.”

“Okay.”

“Wait! I’ll apologize. I’ll apologize, so please wait a little.”

And so, Leffrey, or rather, Soya, was able to receive an apology.

The Rainmaker apologized like this:

He said his words were rude and inconsiderate. And that as compensation, he would provide them with clothes and accessories from his store.

He abandoned his previously arrogant demeanor,

And apologized to Soya, almost groveling.

Soya didn't feel better after hearing his apology.

“This man is really weird.”

She just felt a sense of… madness from him.

Anyway, after the apology, the Rainmaker carefully examined Soya, and…

Well, he did let out groans and moans like "Ugh, Krgh". It was even a bit scary how he even shuddered when he touched the fabric of her clothes.

“…I see, I made a mistake. Your cheap fashion blinded me. I failed to see your potential.”

“Potential?”

“Yes, your potential. Although your hair is messy from mana contamination, and your posture needs correction since you clearly spend a lot of time sitting down, and your skin is completely uncared for… I have to admit.”

He said it as if he was truly frustrated.

But also, as if he had no choice but to say it.

“You have the best potential. Amazing.”

“It doesn’t matter if you say that now. You’ve already been labeled a bigot to me.”

Soya grumbled. But you could see the corners of her mouth rising slightly.

“But beauty needs to be shown to truly shine. That’s why humans were given intelligence. Then, shall we start with the basics?”

“Beautiful…”

Beautiful. Soya imagined about beautiful people. And her imagination always ended with Yumari boasting her pure beauty and Hongwol exuding overflowing vitality.

And she always imagined herself as a gloomy and pathetic figure, standing beside them, desperately trying to look taller by standing on her tiptoes.

After imagining that,

Soya cautiously asked,

“What are the basics?”

“Starting with basic care, then make-up, cosmetics, and posture correction.”

“…Not bad.”

“Yes, not bad at all.”

As soon as he heard those words, with a Snap-, The Rainmaker snapped his fingers. Then several people emerged from behind a curtain and stood beside Soya.

“Wh-What’s this?”

“This department store has many facilities. Four for hair care, six for skincare, and finally three for overall body care.”

The Rainmaker said proudly,

“They’re all the best of the best. Even to use them for just one hour, money alone is not enough. You need fame and a noble background.”

“Hmm, so rich people are picky even about these things, their life is so complicated.”

Soya scoffed.

Then the Rainmaker scoffed back at Soya.

“Consider this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, peasant.”

“What? Peasant?!”

With those words, Soya was dragged away by the staff. As she was being taken away, Soya shouted,

“Have you ever been hit by a black magic spear?! You and me one shot…! You…!” *1*(TL Note: Reference will be said in the TL Afterword)

Leaving Soya struggling and being dragged away, the Rainmaker turned back to look at Leffrey.

And then, his hand naturally reached out to touch Leffrey’s eyes. Leffrey swatted his hand away again and said, as if disgusted.

“I told you not to casually touch someone else’s body.”

“…My apologies. I can’t control myself when I see something so beautiful.”

He then caressed his own hand with an ecstatic look on his face. Leffrey felt a deep sense of hostility coming from his own heart.

‘Rainmaker, this guy is definitely a villain.’

Obsessed with appearance? Bad, but not a villain. Steeped in classism and arrogance, a trait of old-money elites? This is also annoying, but not a villain.

But fanaticism.

It could turn anyone into a villain.

Even something that began with good intentions, when tainted by fanaticism, it becomes unbearably close to evil. Leffrey had seen it many times.

‘Leffriel would have judged someone like this without hesitation.’

Just like how he tried to destroy the New Truth Church back then. The believers of the New Truth Church weren't villains. They were just fanatics who were about to commit evil deeds.

But Leffrey had forgiven them.

‘But I shouldn’t judge someone before they commit a sin.’

Leffrey sighed.

And he decided to teach him a small lesson.

To be honest, the Rainmaker deserved to be punished for many things. His rude remarks, his classism, and his habit of casually touching others.

The boy’s expression darkened slightly.

“Jonathan, do you know why I even know your name?”

“Come to think of it, you. You knew my name.”

Leffrey muttered with a serious expression.

“Why do you think I know?”

“… I don't know. Except for the fact that you're beautiful.”

The conversation isn’t getting through to him. Leffrey muttered in a cold voice.

“I’m an angel. One who has descended to judge you.”

“An angel? I see, that’s why you’re so beautiful.”

The Rainmaker nodded to himself, readily believing that Leffrey was an angel.

“Of course, how could such beauty exist on Earth. My aesthetic sense never lies.”

And then the Rainmaker asked again,

“And you’re here to judge me? But I haven’t done anything wrong.”

“Do you truly believe that?”

“Of course. I’ve saved this world with my inventions. I’m the Rainmaker. The one who brings the rain.”

Leffrey, hearing those words, sighed.

“You can’t judge me. I’m a law-abiding citizen.”

“The laws of Heaven are different from the laws of Earth.”

‘As I thought, I have to punish him.’

Leffrey knew one piece of information. The knowledge of how the demon king corrupted the Rainmaker.

At first, he revealed himself to the Rainmaker and made the man captivated by his beauty.

And secondly…

‘He declared him a sinner and then punished him.’

It is said that he used an illusion created by an Angelic Ability to punish him, showing him all the ugliness of this world through that illusion.

‘He probably showed it through this ability.’

Steps of the Fallen Angel Walking Through the Night. An Angelic Ability that bestowed upon the user the night of Heaven, concealing their footsteps.

But it could be used in other ways too. To bestow the night upon someone else, but instead of the night of Heaven, it could also be a night of judgment.

“Wait, what's this?”

The moment Jonathan asked that question, Leffrey used Ain Soph to bestow a night of judgment upon the Rainmaker.

The Rainmaker’s judgment was to see and feel everything he despised.

"How did you make your fortune?"

“Ugh, ugh, ugh! Wh-What is this! Angel, Angel-nim! Stop it!”

“You didn’t just earn your wealth through your inventions, right? You ruined countless families through stock manipulation and created so many orphans, right?”

And the Rainmaker hadn't felt a single ounce of guilt. Just look at how he treated Soya, he probably even mocked those he had wronged.

“On top of that, you even hostilely took over struggling companies, creating countless unemployed and tearing families apart.”

“Don’t come any closer! AaAAAAaaAghH!”

“And you didn’t even share a penny of that wealth with the world that was crumbling.”

As his screams gradually faded, and the Rainmaker was just trembling, unable to even make a sound…

“I was wrong. It was all…”

Hearing those words, Leffrey took away the night. As the night ended, the golden-haired boy was revealed, like the morning sun.

“Ahhh…”

Leffrey asked with an angelic smile,

“You did wrong, right?”

“Yes. It was all my fault.”

Thus, that’s how the Rainmaker was corrupted. Trapped in the night of nightmares, and then seeing the Demon King appear again, he thought it was the truth…

“It was all my fault, Angel-nim…”

[Eliminating the seeds of evil is an angelic act!]

[You have gained Angelic Power.]

Leffrey smiled and said,

“Now… shall we begin the oath?”
