An Angel Lives in the Academy
Chapter 129: The Angel Who Prevents Terrorism (2)

Even though there was still a massacre he had to prevent, Leffrey was ultimately just a student.

“Did you arrest them all?”

“Yes.”

“Good, then let's prepare for the interviews.”

And there was only so much a student could do. Even though Leffrey’s party had crushed the Western Revolutionary Army… There were always adult matters to consider.

“What, why are *they* the ones doing an interview?”

Of course, Soya couldn't understand that.

“There's no helping it. If it was revealed that students took down a terrorist organization, then the Superhuman Management Bureau would be criticized for not doing their job…"

“Tsk, the world is so dirty.”

But the other two girls understood.

That things would probably turn out like this.

“But the fact that we handed over the credit to the Superhuman Management Bureau also means that we can demand a big reward from them.”

“Especially with dragon here being from the Seocheon Yu, and me being from the Mooncat Tribe. If they don’t give us a proper reward, then…”

Leffrey nodded.

There’s no way the Superhuman Management Bureau would try to screw over the daughter of the Seocheon Yu, a family that wielded influence throughout the world, and the next chieftain of the Mooncat Tribe, a race that excelled in assassination and information warfare.

“Let’s show those bastards what we’re made of.”

Hongwol’s eyes narrowed.

Like a predator eyeing its prey.

“It worked out well.”

“Right.”

Yes, Yumari and Hongwol were right.

By crushing the Western Revolutionary Army, Leffrey and the heroes would get good grades on their midterms and even receive compensation from the Superhuman Management Bureau.

But what was that message that had appeared?

‘Temporarily preventing the massacre of thousands…’

‘Temporarily’ meant that the massacre of thousands would happen again someday. But why would that happen?

The terrorist organization is gone.

‘Just why in the world…’

That's why Leffrey couldn’t celebrate. He simply looked at his friends, hiding his unease. And only Yumari, at that moment, noticed Leffrey’s fidgeting hands.

* * *

“Ugh, why am I not the top student…”

Glug, glug, glug—Soya, pouring a white-yellowish liquid into a mug, complained.

“I did everything. I even set up the barrier, tracked the terrorists’ bombs using magic, and all that…”

Soya, after chugging down the liquid in her mug in one go, let out a ‘Ahh’ sound, then whined again,

“They’re all just a bunch of black magic haters.”

Then she subtly scooted closer to Leffrey.

Actually, Soya wasn’t that upset about not getting first place. After all, with how many twists and turns there had been in Soya's life, Not being the top student wouldn't be that big of a deal.

But the reason why Soya was acting this way…

“Leffrey. What do you think?”

“Hmm…”

“You think I’m right, don’t you?”

A girl who wanted attention, but pretended not to. But the boy, lost in his own thoughts, couldn’t focus on that girl.

Soya poured even more of the white-yellowish liquid into her mug.

“… You’re ignoring me again.”

And then she chugged it down once again. Leffrey looked at Soya with concern.

“Soya, don’t drink too much.”

“Whatever! You keep ignoring me!”

Her voice was full of annoyance. But Soya’s lips curled up at the sight of Leffrey who was concerned for her.

She quickly covered her mouth and raised her mug again.

“I’m not ignoring you. I just have a lot on my mind.”

“…Whatever.”

Glug, glug, glug—Soya continued to drink, sulking.

“If you drink that much yogurt, you’ll get cavities.”

“Hey! Don’t call it yogurt, why are you calling it that? Call it fermented milk!”

“No, but we agreed to call it yogurt…”

“Do you think I don't know that?”

(TL Note: It’s yakult, in the original Korean text it’s 요구르트 to which the literal translation is yogurt, and guess what, yakult is also called that in Korea. I guess Leffrey just wanted to call yakult a yogurt lmfao, I mean there’s no difference right?)

Soya whined. After that incident where he went to the professors’ building to acquire his Ultimate Skill, Soya's whining seemed to have gotten a bit worse. (TL Note to self: Check if this is true or not.) (TL Note: It is true but just in case, delete this later though when posting. (This is not determined yet))

Soya rolled around on the floor, then, frustrated, muttered in a small voice,

“Alas, it’s vacation, and I have nothing to do. If a friend needed my help and asked, I might even consider helping them.”

“Hmm…”

But the boy still ignored her.

The girl, growing desperate, quickly spoke again.

“Well, of course I’d only be helping because I’m bored, but if not now, they might not get another chance like this.”

But the boy was still lost in his own thoughts, unresponsive. Soya muttered with a half-pouting expression.

“This is the only chance to get help from a strong, intelligent, responsible mage…”

And with a slightly flushed face, trying to hide her muffled voice, Soya asked,

“What’s wrong again?”

“Huh?”

“What are you secretly trying to do again?”

Leffrey hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should tell her.

‘If I don’t tell her, she’ll sulk again…’

A dangerous situation where thousands of lives could be lost. If he told Soya, she might get caught up in it.

Being the kind of girl who wants to constantly prove how amazing she is, there’s a high chance she might do something reckless and put herself in danger.

‘It’s better not to tell her.’

Leffrey apologetically lowered his head.

“Sorry, I’ll tell you later.”

“…I see. So you’re going to act like this.”

Soya’s tone became cold. And she muttered with a sad expression.

“Idiot, idiot, idiot! I, I don’t care about you or anything!”

Soya stomped away, leaving Leffrey to sigh deeply.

* * *

So, how could he solve this problem?

‘I’ll have to ask the adults for help.’

A massacre of thousands. Judging from the scale of the incident, there was definitely a powerful faction involved. And the fact that he only ‘temporarily’ prevented it meant that a meticulously planned operation had been set in motion.

This wasn’t something a student could handle. He needed help from the adults.

But to talk to the professors…

‘The only evidence I have are the messages. It’s a bit uncomfortable to tell them about the messages.’

To say he was saying all this because of a message? They’d probably treat him as a crazy angel.

After all, messages were something that no other superhuman had, a special phenomenon that only Leffrey experienced.

Perhaps it was one of the angels’ abilities.

‘Then, as expected…’

There’s only one person left.

Leffrey made up his mind and knocked on a massive silver door.

“Hello?”

The silver door was the entrance to a massive castle. The castle was so fantastical, as if it belonged in an amusement park, that the students sarcastically called it Cinderella’s Castle.

Of course, the castle’s official name was the Headmaster’s Office, and its real name was the Silver Castle.

“Headmaster, are you home?”

As Leffrey continued to knock, the massive door to the Silver Castle silently began to open.

Leffrey, without fear,

Stepped inside.

And a girl, with unkempt hair and the air of a *hikikomori*, was peeking at him from a railing.

Leffrey looked at her and politely bowed,

“It’s been a while, Headmaster.”

“…Leffriel, what’s going on?”

Peek- The headmaster peeked out, eyeing Leffrey with a slightly wary expression.

‘Last time, I didn’t really notice because of the chaotic situation, but Iriel…’

Iriel was quite a recluse. A shut-in, a result of her constantly avoiding people, claiming that she’s a sinner who didn’t deserve gratitude…

‘She’s a bit of a hikikomori.’

As he looked around, he noticed snack bags, game cartridges, and a state-of-the-art computer scattered throughout the Silver Castle.

‘Well, it's understandable. It must be boring to just stay inside the Silver Castle and accumulate karma.’

Leffrey sighed and started cleaning up after Iriel. As a father who raised two children, Hexi and Soya, this kind of housework was a piece of cake.

[Cleaning the blessed Silver Castle is an angelic act!]

[You have gained Angelic Power.]

He even gained Angelic Power.

“What brings you here?”

Iriel, who had been confident when she thought Leffrey was a low-ranking angel, now couldn’t hide her discomfort, her voice trembling as she realized he was a higher-ranking angel.

“Don’t tell me you’re here to kick me out of this castle? That… That’s an abuse of power. It might be normal in Heaven, but you can’t do that here on Earth…”

Iriel continued to mutter from behind the railing. Her last sentence was even spoken with honorifics. Leffrey tilted his head.

(TL Note: Um so the honorifics things was that she switched from 야 to 요, 야 is more informal while 요 is more formal. She used 요 in ‘That’s an abuse of power.’ part and 야 in ‘but you can’t do that here on Earth’)

“Why are you acting like this? And why are you still hiding?”

“Because you suddenly asserted your authority as an archangel!”

Authority as an archangel?

Just what on earth was she talking about?

‘Ah, right. Come to think of it…’

[Flabellum, the archangel's dagger, and Sanctus, the angel's gloves, confirmed.]

[Items proving Heavenly authority confirmed.]

[An opportunity to ascend to a higher rank is given to you, who have fulfilled your duty!]

[Vacancy for the Archangel position confirmed.]

These messages had appeared when Hongwol awakened as a hero.

“You’re emanating authority close to that of an archangel… and now you’re here to bully me…”

Iriel, still frightened,

…didn’t reveal herself.

“What in the world is this Archangel…”

Leffrey sighed and said,

“Headmaster, I need your help.”

“What kind of help?”

“To save thousands of lives. I received a prophecy through a message that thousands will be slaughtered… and I can’t figure out a way to stop it…”

Hearing that, Iriel muttered dejectedly,

“There’s no way I can do something that even you, Leffriel, cannot.”

“That's true.”

Leffrey continued,

“I don't have any memory of being an angel at all. That's why I need your help, Headmaster”

“…You have no memories?”

“Yes. No memories at all.”

Iriel, looking flustered, said,

“Wait, you, last time we talked, you seemed to have all your memories as Leffriel.”

“Well, that was because of the situation.”

“You… You… You… Con Artist Angel…….”

Iriel trembled, although her figure was barely visible behind the railing, her shaking shoulders could be seen.

“I see. So that’s what happened.”

After Iriel calmed down a bit, she nodded.

“To receive a message about the massacre of thousands, and yet to be unable to take immediate action, means that…”

Smirk—Iriel’s voice sounded a little amused.

“You’ve completely forgotten how to use karma.”

“How to use karma? Are you talking about my Angelic Abilities? But I can still use them.”

The girl finally emerged from behind the railing, revealing herself. She had shed her hikikomori persona, regaining her confident demeanor.

“No, those techniques aren't Angelic Abilities.”

Headmaster Iriel looked at Leffrey with an amused expression.

“But in a way, they're more important than Angelic Abilities.”

Techniques more important than Angelic Abilities?

Leffrey swallowed nervously and looked at Iriel.

“Shall I teach you?”

As Headmaster Iriel seductively reached out her hand to Leffrey, a black beast watched the scene unfold from the top floor of the Silver Castle.

And a girl, through the beast’s eyes, stared intently at the boy.

A cold aura filled the castle.

On the pointed silver roof(Turret),

the snow began to pile up.
