Chapter 216: 36 Acts Brand’s Preparations (Part 1)_2
Breson turned his head to glance at the other’s back, saying nothing. But when he turned back, he wore a thoughtful expression.

When Test pushed open the door of the Silver Wing Cavalry Regiment’s command post, Viscount Maggsk, the Silver Wing Cavalry Corps Commander, was staring blankly out of the three-man-wide arched floor-to-ceiling window in his office. This middle-aged man with graying hair relaxed immediately upon seeing Test.
He pointed to a seat with his pipe and smiled, saying, "You’re not exactly quick, Sergeant."
"I had to disperse some troublemakers," the silver-haired man smiled slightly and answered after sitting down.
Just like the rumors outside, Test was indeed the illegitimate son of Duke Golan-Elsen, but his mother was a member of the Su Clan, a lost tribe of the Silver People. Hence, he considered himself to have Silver Bloodline. However, unlike his young and indifferent exterior, Test was quite shrewd in private, which is why he became a key member of the Unity of All Things.
But only these two people knew about this relationship.
"So, did you see those people?" Maggsk asked.
Test nodded.
The young man leaned back slightly, answering in a leisurely manner, "One young man and that Red Beard Batom are just small fries with Black Iron Lower Middle strength, nothing noteworthy. But the surprise is that one of them is a militia girl from Buqi. Commander, I suppose you’ve already received this information before I did?"
Maggsk put down his pipe, "The girl’s name is Frey. She’s one of the four designated. What do you think?"
"Interesting," Test smiled. "Are you going to tell me she’s the illegitimate daughter of some high lord?"
"Come on, what does that have to do with us?" replied Maggsk. "But this means we should exclude these people from suspicion. The one who killed ’Thor’ was alone and at least Black Iron Upper or Silver Power."
"Don’t know about that Red Copper Dragon Reto," the Silver Wing Cavalry Corps Commander said casually after sitting down. "I heard the ’Silver Dove’ faction is furious, accusing us of not assigning a Silver or Gold swordsman to that idiot."
The young man snickered. "Just a decoy. We can talk more after we replace the notorious ’Sir Wolf.’ The organization doesn’t need waste. To be honest, I always suspected Ou Fuwei’er might have noticed something that night."
Maggsk nodded.
"My people got word about a disturbance in Ridenburg that night, somewhere near the Noble Council and Yusong Castle. Only the nobles might know what happened that night," Test shrugged. "Too bad not a single idiot survived."
Maggsk asked, "Do you think Luc Besson would know anything?"
"That tiger wouldn’t speak even if he did. He’s not one of us," Test said, with a double meaning.
"Indeed, whether from the White Mane Legion’s perspective or ours, that guy is an oddity," Maggsk agreed.
"So, what do you plan to do?"
"Isn’t this your responsibility within the organization? Asking me is a bit against the rules, Sergeant," the cavalry commander was taken aback but then laughed.
But Test shook his head. "Not anymore. You’re in charge now. I came here to transfer the matters to you and to ask for leave as a sergeant of the White Mane Legion."
"What’s the matter?"
"We’ve found a lead on the Lion Heart Sword."
Maggsk was slightly taken aback. "So soon? How did they get the information?"
Test smiled, but didn’t respond.

After leaving Frey in the Silver Wing Cavalry Regiment’s camp, Brand met up with the long-waiting Tama at the agreed spot outside Ragonbun Market in Brags.
This future Alchemy Master would probably never suspect that in another timeline, he would become a prominent figure in Madara. But at this moment, he was dressed in a strange checkered robe, standing outside the market in the blistering sun of June or July, showing the same respectful expression upon seeing Brand.
"Lord, the items you requested are ready," Tama said, carrying a heavy backpack and holding his son’s hand, standing respectfully by Brand’s side.
His respect was not due to Brand’s noble status but out of gratitude to his savior. However, his son wasn’t as reserved, looking at Brand with admiration—there weren’t many refugee children who didn’t idolize this knight.
"You bought them?" Brand was taken aback. He hadn’t expected to find genuine Elven craft alchemy instruments in a market like Brags. He had asked Tama to look into it, thinking the precision instruments from the Free Port Ambeser merchants would suffice.
Tama glanced at the young knight and replied, "I rented them from the local alchemy guild. They cost two thousand Tuo."
This future Alchemist’s heart couldn’t help but grumble. Typically, alchemy didn’t require such superior conditions. Even in the Noble Council, he had only used a set of second-hand alchemy instruments. This knight’s generosity was somewhat extravagant.
Brand slapped his forehead. He had completely forgotten about that. But it would be better to buy the instruments outright. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be so short of money after this period.
But unlike Tama’s thoughts, Brand had his own plans.
He intended to create a set of 15 (Oz) Tree Spirit Poison Liquid-coated poisoned daggers and a set of 32 (Oz) curse crossbow arrows. Although he had some basic strength now, lacking some hidden trump cards was just not in his style.
The poisoned daggers could be sold to the nobles. Tree Spirit Poison Liquid was colorless and odorless, and those who died from it would show signs of a plague, making it an excellent tool for conspiracies among those weaker than Black Iron strength.
The curse crossbow arrow was a must-have for low-level characters involved in assassination and arson, making it Brand’s first-choice weapon. These arrows had a certain chance of inflicting fatigue, weakness, and extra damage curses when they hit the enemy. Although high-level targets could easily resist, the effects were very pronounced on enemies below Silver Upper strength.
The only drawback of these things was their costly materials, requiring Intermediate-level Corpse Witch souls, difficult to obtain below Level 40. Thanks to the wasteful nobles of Ridenburg, Brand had what he needed this time.
Of course, crafting 35 (Oz) equipment required Level 8 alchemy, which was a significant challenge for Brand.
Fortunately, heaven was on his side. The Elven craftsmanship alchemy instruments conferred +1 alchemy level, and with professional Alchemist assistance, another +1 level. Renting an enchanted alchemy workshop would just make the required Level 8 achievable.
