Chapter 134: Act 2 Mercenary

Ou Fuwei’er took out a necklace from his chest before starting his speech. It was a common brass necklace, with a smooth chain hanging from a beautiful crystal pendant, on which was inscribed a line of small characters: Frey.

He showed the necklace to the young girl and said, "This necklace was always carried by her. Her name should have come from this. But actually, this is her mother’s name, Princess."

"Her mother?" The girl held the necklace with slender hands, her expression unchanged.

"That’s Everton’s wife, who died in the riot seventeen years ago."

"Then this girl should be Everton’s only descendant, right?"

"Precisely."

"Since Lord Ou Fuwei’er is here, then this little girl should have successfully escaped danger, can we say so?" the girl asked.

"That can be said, but the process was quite bizarre." The middle-aged man nodded indifferently, though his eyebrows slightly raised, as if recalling something interesting.

"Oh?" The Princess showed a hint of surprise.

"In fact, it mainly revolves around that young man."

"So we’re back to him again?"

"No, it’s just that throughout the entire process, the young man played a certain intriguing role. It sounds like a casual remark, but the entire escape journey was filled with unpredictability— there were several critical moments where even I couldn’t intervene, and many could not imagine such a situation, but he still wrested them back alive—"

Ou Fuwei’er mentioned this and couldn’t help but sneer, "To be blunt, compared to some incompetent people, this young man was probably the only one who made Madara suffer a setback in this battle."

"Oh?" The girl’s pale silver-grey eyes slightly brightened.

"Especially since he got hold of a nice thing during this process," the middle-aged man said, showing a reminiscing expression. "But what exactly it is, let the old minister keep it a secret for now."

"Now I’m even more curious to hear about what kind of person earned Lord Ou Fuwei’er’s praise. But time is running out, please start, Lord."

Only then did Ou Fuwei’er nod, taking a step back, and continued recounting the events of that night...

*********

Frey heard Su whistling from the street corner, crisp and pleasant, sounding like a nightingale, but it was a warning. She quickly turned her head and realized that four or five strangers on the street were surrounding her. She knew her previous actions were too conspicuous, arousing hostility.

She didn’t think twice and pushed away that distant relative of Roman, rushing into the house. Seeing this, the people behind sped up their steps to catch up, but Frey had already dashed into the bedroom and closed the door, then toppled the cabinet to block the passage.

The sound of pounding immediately began, and Frey felt her heart was about to leap out of her chest. She looked at the nearby window, bit her lip, and shielded her head with her hands before leaping out with a ’crash’.

At this season in Erune, most common civilians still used wooden lattice windows. Despite the protection of the Wind Queen Half Armor, Frey still felt pain in her arms and forehead from the impact. She rolled on the ground several times before getting up, realizing she was already in the alley behind the street. Raising her head, she saw Su stumbling into the alley from the other end.

However, the girl’s face was as pale as if she had seen a ghost.

"Su!" Frey stood up and shouted halfway, but her words got stuck in her throat.

She raised her head and saw countless blue sparks moving towards the center of the sky. Initially, the girl did not realize what it was, standing there stunned for a while, but then she suddenly reacted—those were arrows.

Arrows lit with Soul Fire, crafted by Madara’s Skeleton Archers. That night in Buqi’s experience immediately resurfaced in her mind. Frey shouted to be careful and rushed forward to protect Su under her.

The rain of arrows then fell menacingly, countless arrows crashing onto the tiles of nearby houses. The thin layer of tiles could not stop Madara’s custom cone-shaped heavy arrows, and soon, cries of agony echoed from inside the houses. Frey felt Su trembling severely while hugging her on the ground— she herself was not much better, with a face drained of color and feeling her heart would stop.

A few arrows struck the green Wind Feathers surrounding her body, bouncing off with a thud. Frey didn’t know that in the game, the Defense of the Wind Queen Half Armor was terrifying: Wind Feathers providing full protection with 3 points, and the Half Armor itself with 2 points— while in fact, even full-body armor only offered 3 points of Defense.
