Chapter 105: 44 Acts: Isn’t It a Prison Break?_2
Brand thought to himself, it’s no big deal to talk about the Revealer and the Chosen One, even those innately gifted with knightly talents aren’t that unusual. If this achievement had been completed within a few days, it would be remarkable, but Char didn’t know that. However, being flattered always feels good, and he was too lazy to expose the truth.
After all, the slightly surprised looks in Romantic and Frey’s eyes made him quite proud, didn’t they?
Char glanced at the soldier fainted on the ground and whispered, "It seems there are other prisoners in cells 5, 17, and 22. Should we release them to help us escape, my Lord? If it’s a camp outside, having more people might increase our chances of success."
Frey immediately glared at him, what a terrible idea. Brand had already said that those imprisoned here were truly heinous criminals.
"No need. More people will only disrupt my plan," Brand responded confidently.
"As you wish."
Brand turned around again, "Romantic, do you know where your aunt is?"
Romantic shook her head, "I don’t know, but I heard she’ll be staying at a cousin’s house."
"Where does that cousin live?"
"I know, at the Bonuan Market. I heard my aunt talk about it. That person seems to be a distant relative of Romantic’s aunt, a small merchant dealing in woolen goods named Hude," Frey replied.
Brand looked at Romantic, "Your family does have a tradition of merchants."
Miss Merchant responded with a sweet smile.
Once they confirmed the destination, everything became easier. The first floor of the dungeon beneath the camp was even smaller, and there was only one prison guard – Brand realized that the four guards on the lower floor had been temporarily increased because of them. After dealing with this floor, they continued upward, entering the interior of the camp.
Brand was very familiar with this place. He first skillfully retrieved Frey’s Wind Queen Half Armor from the temporary storage, then armed everyone with a sword taken from the soldiers. Unfortunately, he lacked the experience of knocking out soldiers; otherwise, he would have knocked them out several more times.
During this time, Char suggested more than once to rally the prisoners in the cells to create a riot and escape amidst the chaos. The reason was simple. They could easily take down one or two White Mane Light Infantry with a sudden attack, but in the courtyard outside, it would be hard for just the four of them to fight their way out.
However, Brand rejected all these suggestions.
While they were talking, they had already sneaked into the top layer of the camp. Brand opened the wooden door at the top of the tower and stepped out – outside was an open-air walkway, with parapets on both sides for temporary defense. Without looking, Brand knew that below was a branch of the Song River within the city, from where one could see about one-fifth of the city.
But he wasn’t here for the view. They had knocked out seven guards on their way up. Considering the training of the White Mane Legion, the guards would discover something was wrong in about ten minutes. Brand looked up at the sky. The moonlight tonight was beautiful, and the thick clouds couldn’t hide the silver disc in the night sky.
"What are you doing, Brand?" Frey couldn’t help but poke him. She couldn’t resist thinking that this guy hadn’t broken out just to look at the moon, had he? Although it seemed unlikely, knowing his notorious past, it wasn’t entirely impossible.
She glanced at Char beside her. The young man was also looking at the sky with his hands behind his back, not saying a word. Master and servant were quite in sync.
"Tonight’s moonlight is nice," Brand replied casually.
"You—" Frey was so angry she was grinding her teeth. She really wanted to punch this guy in the face to wipe that smug smile off.
"Aunt said the moon’s name is Luca. Luca was born because of Yi Lian, who is Alice’s twin sister – twin goddesses. Because of the moon, there’s mystery in this world," Romantic said, looking up at the moon.
"Your aunt knows a lot," Char replied on the side, "It’s a secret among the world’s wizards. There’s a book called ’Dark Epic’ that tells of countless events from the past ages."
"You mean Romantic’s aunt is a wizard?" Frey was startled.
"Not necessarily. Someone related to magic. Some country witches also know these kinds of stories," Char replied.
