Chapter 781: Prison Break

Yarin's POV:

Wasn't that just a dream?

The glimmering silver ornament was so real-cool to the touch and weighty. Its exquisite patterns and delicate craftsmanship brought a budding moonflower to life. Yet, it was from the dream. How could it have made its way into reality?

After testing, it was undoubtedly made of silver, with a rather high purity and almost no impurities.

"Could I have conjured it out of thin air? Did my shapeshifting abilities evolve? But I don't feel like I'm missing any part of my body," I pondered aloud.

There were no silver items in the room, so it wasn't possible that I unconsciously fashioned it out of silver.

Mom furrowed her brows in thought and said, "You mentioned dreaming about a ruined Moon Palace's courtyard and finding a seven-stringed small harp as well?"

I nodded.

"The harp in the courtyard... it belongs to the goddess. If you think the silver ornament was meant for the harp, could it be related to the goddess?"

I was taken aback. I hadn't considered this possibility, especially since the goddess had departed.

Aunt Dorothy and Master Hayley, of course, were unaware of this development, but they found Mom's theory plausible.

Master Hayley said, "This might be a gift from the goddess. She bestowed this talisman upon you when she saw you suffering from the influence of evil forces. The seven-stringed harp is a prop used in goddess worship rituals. From this perspective, the ornament may carry the power of the goddess."

Her words made sense to me. Even though the goddess was gone, her residual influence lingered. The silver ornament was smooth and pure, much like the full moon in the sky. It emitted a comforting power akin to moonlight. Perhaps this was the help the goddess left for me, and I had just been too obtuse to find it earlier.

After confirming that the evening primrose silver ornament was harmless, Mom had it set into a pendant for me to carry. The pendant was detachable, so if the dream's harp also

manifested in reality, I could return the silver item to its rightful place.

Afterward, I indeed stopped having nightmares. The silver ornament was even more effective than Heller's sleep aid hairpin.

It was May, and I heard unexpected bad news one day after school.

"Several prisoners have escaped," Cynthia said with a grave expression. "Do you want to guess who they are?"

Heller and I were baffled. How would we know who was in prison?

Cynthia announced the answer matter-of-factly, "Remember those scumbags who tried to molest Lydia?"

I exclaimed, "Them?"

"Exactly. That human merchant named Tyle and the owner of Sunset. And that's not the worst part. Want to guess what else happened?"

Cynthia's expression darkened, and I tentatively asked, "Did they injure the prison guards?"

She remained expressionless.

"Did they... kill the guards?"

She still had no expression.

I couldn't guess anymore. Cynthia continued to remain expressionless until she dropped the bombshell, "They both, along with other inmates, destroyed half the prison. Over a dozen guards died while suppressing the riot. Even more wicked prisoners escaped.

"Just in our district, within a single day, there was one rape case, two attempted rapes, five robberies, and two cases of deliberate harm, with one of the deliberate harm cases turning into a murder. The victim didn't survive despite treatment and passed away.

"And that's not the worst part. The prison scene was discovered to be infused with remnants of malevolent energy. Some prisoners have been so deeply tainted by malevolent energy that they're beyond redemption. Even many guards have been tainted, and Mom had to personally go there to treat them.

"All routes leading out of the Lycan Pack have been temporarily blocked. The Lycan Pack will impose a one-week curfew starting tonight. Dad is mobilizing the military to take over the security during the nighttime hours. The objective is to capture all escaped prisoners within a week.

"For now, it doesn't seem difficult to apprehend the prisoners. Most of them have been heavily tainted by malevolent energy and won't be able to purify themselves. They'll likely run wild on the streets in no time. But it's challenging to capture the two main culprits. The source of the malevolent energy appeared in their respective cells, meaning they likely have some form of protection, or perhaps..."

"Or perhaps they are followers of Azazel, the kind with a notable position," I murmured. With Cynthia's flat narration, I understood that the leisurely campus life had evaporated. The Charlies Family also reinforced their security measures, and Lady Charlies became unusually serious, emphasizing, "The school just sent a notice about the closing. You don't need to go to school this week. Stay at home and don't go out, okay? I know you're not ordinary kids, but it's too dangerous outside. You mustn't actively approach the criminals." The royal family also dispatched additional covert forces to protect the Charlies' estate. Even the Pearl Lake's shore was fortified with electrified wire fences and magical wards.

The escaped criminals were currently in desperate need of identification documents and money. In just half a day, theft and robbery incidents were reported-whether against commoners or aristocrats.
