Chapter 710: No Longer Forgotten
Chapter 710: No Longer Forgotten
Yarin's POV:
In the disbelieving gaze of Spil, the glowing sphere slowly floated out of my chest, its radiance increasing, like a gentle moon at midnight.
"You must also be reluctant to leave. Departing is never an easy thing..." I said as I held the sphere and gently waved it, allowing it to fly into the air.
"Do you already know what you want to do with it?" Seeing that he couldn't stop me, Spil lay down.
"Yes, please rest assured, I will not misuse it."
"Sigh, you are reckless, foolish, brave, and resolute," the giant black wolf said. "I used to think I was mature, but it seems a child has educated me."
"I don't think I offended you," I muttered in confusion and asked, "Don't you want to know what I am going to do?"
"It's something I can't stop, and it probably won't be a bad thing," he said. "If the goddess believes in you, then I guess I should too."
Although he claimed not to care about what I wanted to do, I thought it would be polite to tell him, especially because what I wanted to do was somewhat unconventional.
So I straightforwardly said, "I want to transfer this space into my spiritual world."
The black wolf's ears twitched.
"I know my power is nothing compared to the goddess, but at least I can preserve its illusion in my spiritual world. This way, you can also survive, Spil. Your lover is still waiting for you, and I don't think the goddess would want to see you two separated in death."
The black wolf raised its eyes to look at me but remained silent.
"If you're silent, I'll take that as your approval," I said. "But I probably won't be able to let you stay in my spiritual world. After all, it's an illusion... But your lover is still in the mortal world, right? You can find her and won't have to be apart anymore. You can also live in my home; Mom and Dad will welcome you. Of course, it might be noisy there, or maybe the Moon Temple would be better. It has always been dedicated to serving the goddess, so you might feel more at home there..."
As I spoke, my thoughts began to wander. The black wolf finally said helplessly, "All right, all right, you can do whatever you want, child. Now, focus on what's in front of you, and we can discuss the rest later."
The 'moon' in the sky had bloomed to its peak and compressed at the same time. I knew the final moment had arrived, so I gladly accepted it as it suddenly leaped into my forehead like a bird.
I had prepared myself for the pain, but surprisingly, the process was not as torturous as expected. I only felt a cool sensation, like soaking in a stream. Everything around me flowed into my body like fish swimming in the stream.
The land was collapsing, but instead of disappearing, it took root and sprouted in a different form within my spiritual world.
The surroundings grew darker, and the candlelight, lanterns, and moon halo disappeared silently.
Before sinking into darkness, I heard someone softly sigh, saying, "Thank you, child." I lost consciousness.
When I woke up again, I was lying in soft bedding, surrounded by a faint fragrance of grass and flowers, which immediately made me alert, realizing I was still in the temple.
I mumbled a few words, sat up, and found no one in the spacious room except for the black wolf lounging lazily beside my bed.
"You're awake," Spil said. "I'll go get your mother."
Before I could react, he strolled out slowly. A few seconds later, my mother and the priestess walked in.
"Yarin, my dear, how do you feel?" She sat beside the bed and gently tidied the stray hair by my temple.
"I'm fine. Nothing's wrong," I looked at her and then at the black wolf lying back beside the bed and said, "Mom, this is..."
"Spil, I know. We've already met each other," she said.
I was somewhat surprised by my mother's nonchalant attitude. Since Spil had already introduced himself, she must have learned about the goddess and the Moon Palace from him. Thinking of the goddess's passing, I couldn't help but feel melancholic and said, "The goddess... she's gone. Before she left, she bestowed her divinity upon me, helping me control the mark and portal Azazel left on my soul."
"Ah, the goddess..." My mother sighed softly. "She was my mother in my previous life. Even though I remembered my past identity, the memories were still vague. Only when I saw her did I truly feel our souls were connected by blood.
"I can't say how much filial affection I had for her, but I loved, admired, and was grateful to her. I felt genuinely confused and fearful when she told me she was leaving."
Surprisingly, the most composed of all was the priestess, who said, "But everything has an end, even for gods—don't look at me like that. As a priestess, I am deeply devoted to the goddess. However, because I grew up under her guidance, I understand why she could calmly accept death.
"Everything has an end, everything ends..."
