Chapter 412: The Shop

Lucia’s eyes widened in anticipation of the new sight. She expected to witness a modernized city, but the place looked ancient. Although, it wasn’t that bad and looked elegant.

"Why are we covering our faces?" Lucia asked in confusion. Before, the men who hired her showed her beauty to the public as a priced possession, but Gastone wanted to hide her instead.

"Because you are so beautiful," Gastone smiled, hoping his words would be enough to shut Lucia and stop asking him questions.

"..."

Lucia was used to hearing those words from a man, but she less expected it from Gastone. She cringed in disgust and hid her reaction.

Gastone felt a pang of pain after Lucia didn’t react to his compliment and thought it wasn’t enough.

’Maybe I should say good words about her body. Girls like that,’ Gastone thought and recalled about Lucia’s appearance.

"... And it’s a bit sunny today. I don’t want you to have dry skin," Gastone grinned.

On the other hand, Lucia shivered and felt Gastone was a dangerous, creepy man based on his words. She leaned forward and avoided any physical contact with him.

After a few seconds, they entered the town after a quick check-in at the entrance.

Gastone showed them a metal plate from Sabrecrown as a free pass. He was nervous since they might want him to show his face, but they let him through.

"The security is tight here," Lucia whispered after observing the knights. Her eyes looked at their swords, and she couldn’t help but chuckle. She found it cute how they used swords instead of a gun.

"Yes, for everyone’s safety," Gastone replied before going to the stable where he put his horse while they shop.

Lucia watched Gastone take out silver coins from his purse. It was the first time she had seen that kind of money, and wondered which part of the world she was that moment.

"Let’s go," Gastone stated, gesturing for Lucia to accompany him. He planned to take her out to the boutiques and jewellery shop.

Lucia nodded and remained close to Gastone, but she stayed behind. She knew Gastone was her master, and it was a servant’s position at the back.

After a while, Gastone stopped walking and faced Lucia. "Why are you at the back. I won’t be able to keep you safe if I can’t see you. Walk beside me," he stated firmly.

"But..." Lucia was about to disagree when Gastone hushed her.

"That’s an order," Gastone stated, the exact words he used to command when he was a Prince before.

"Order, huh?" Lucia was dumbfounded, but followed Gastone. She wanted to smack him for treating her like that, but she needed to learn which country she was taken into.

"Yes," Gastone replied and pointed at his side before walking.

Lucia rolled her eyes and acted as if she wanted to punch Gastone before going back at her facade as a nice girl. She walked slightly beside him and looked around.

"Pick whatever you like. It’s my treat for you," Gastone whispered proudly and showed his pouch that contained golden coins.

"Your money... is different, haha," Lucia whispered awkwardly and showed her wallet that contained paper money.

Gastone froze briefly, forgetting that Lucia was from the human world. He cleared his throat and hid his pouch.

"They’re the same. You’re just seeing things," Gastone stated before entering a boutique that sold dresses. The designs were lovely, but some of the quality was cheap.

Lucia followed behind with a grimace behind her hood. She felt attacked but thought she might be mistaken. Her eyes widened at seeing the fancy gown and few dresses.

"Why are we here?" Lucia asked in confusion since the designs looked like she was about to attend a ball.

"For you to have clothes on while you’re staying here. These are simple styles that won’t catch an eye from the public," Gastone stated and touched the fabric with distaste.

Lucia was surprised that Gastone thought of her staying for long, but she planned to leave as soon as possible.

"You can deduct it from my salary," Lucia replied, pulling the nearest pink gown she found. A price tag was attached, but she didn’t know the currency.

"Just pick whatever you like. I’ll pay for it," Gastone stated and went to the counter to buy some garments for Lucia without her knowledge.

Lucia pursed her lips but agreed. "Who am I to reject a free offer," she muttered before picking what she liked the most without looking at the price.

Lucia picked a total of ten clothes and took them to Gastone.

"Oh," Gastone’s eyes bulged at how Lucia was barely seen due to how many clothes she carried.

"I’m sorry, I chose ten of these dresses. Perhaps I can return some if it’s too expensive," Lucia stated softly. She couldn’t see Gastone’s expression until he took the dresses and put them on the counter.

"Are you sure about the amount? I think it’s quite less than I expected," Gastone muttered with a furrowed eyebrow. He gestured for the owner to pack it for her.

"Oh, I mean, we can go to other stores, hehe," Lucia muttered shyly and tucked a hair strand behind her ear.

That action made Gastone’s heartbeat skip. Lucia looked beautiful when she was timid, and he liked it.

"Yes, we should buy underwear too. This shop doesn’t sell them," Gastone stated while paying several gold coins and taking the bag.

"U-underwear?" Lucia blinked a couple times to make sure she heard it right.

"Yes, what kind of underwear do you like? The owner told me there’s a store that sells—" Gastone couldn’t continue his words when Lucia slammed her hand into his mouth.

"Shh!" Lucia hushed Gastone and glanced at the shop owner, who chuckled at them. She grabbed Gastone’s hand and dragged him outside the store to save themselves from shame.

Lucia wasn’t expecting Gastone to blurt out about underwear without shame.

"Are you alright?" Gastone asked and pulled himself. He was worried Lucia would get angry for attempting to buy underwear she didn’t like.

"Why did you say it out loud? We can buy u-under... wea—" Lucia facepalmed since her face was in deep red due to second-hand embarrassment.

"Are you perhaps... embarrassed? There’s no need for that," Gastone shrugged and looked around for the undergarment’s store without much thought about Lucia’s feelings.

For Gastone, Lucia was overreacting for something usual to wear.
