Chapter 179: The Naivity of Abuse
Rosina placed her mother in the bed and tucked her with the tattered blanket to keep her warm. She looked at Natale’s face for a couple of seconds before going outside since the door was left unlocked.
Rosina went out of the door and sniffed the air to know how many wolves were currently inside the pack house. She wanted to stay lowkey for a few days before she made her move and thanked Rico; she knew her first step.
’I need to read that letter,’ Rosina thought and walked a couple of steps before arriving at the door. No one was in the living room since they were all coped up outside preparing dinner around the bonfire.
"I think I slept too long," Rosina whispered, indicating the amount of time she was unconscious. She wanted to know who found her in the forest and brought her back to the Palecrest pack.
"You’re finally awake," a voice said behind Rosina.
Rosina glanced back, and her eyes widened when she saw who it was. "Osbert," she stated with a small smile.
"How are you feeling?" Osbert grinned and crossed his arms.
"I’m good," Rosina replied and cleared her throat. She put her facade and changed her facial expression to a shy person.
"I saw you lying on the ground in the open forest when we were patrolling the place. So I brought you back here," Osbert stated with a playful expression before walking toward Rosina.
Osbert was a warrior wolf and Emilio’s friend, who was killed by Rosina after she ground on his c0ck, but she had used hypnotism to erase the memories of their encounter before. Besides that, Osbert could remember how Rosina was treated in the pack and their meetings.
"I see," Rosina answered flatly. She didn’t want to deal with him at the moment since she had other important things in mind, but Osbert was planning something else.
Osbert had her eyes on Rosina before since she was weak and easily manipulated wolf in his eyes. He even touched Rosina’s breasts while she was unconscious back in the forest, and that feeling made him want more.
Rosina noticed the lust in Osbert’s eyes, which made her amused. She knew Osbert would only approach her with intentions. After all, her reputation in the Palecrest pack was still the same even when she married a Prince.
"Well, since I saved you. I should get my reward," Osbert smirked and sniffed Rosina’s scent, but he couldn’t smell anything besides the scent of soil that lingered on Rosina’s clothes.
’I didn’t tell you to save me!’ Rosina thought and forced herself not to grimace at his words. She smiled innocently and cupped her face, acting like she thought about what to give.
"What do you want?" Rosina asked shyly.
"Hmm, meet me at midnight in the Southern forest later," Osbert stated before turning around and leaving, but Rosina spoke.
"How about in the Northern forest? I have several memories in that place, and I want you to be part of it," Rosina said softly, making sure her voice was soft and alluring to Osbert’s ears.
"Sure, I don’t mind," Osbert smirked and stared at Rosina’s body with lust. He couldn’t believe that someone like Rosina could marry a Prince, and he wanted to taste her to brag to his friends that he could f^ck a Princess.
"Okay," Rosina nodded before leaving and went back to the hallway toward her room, but she hid in the corner and watched Osbert celebrate in silent victory.
’This poor wolf thinks he could survive later,’ Rosina thought and rolled her eyes. She returned to her room and sat on the broken chair while waiting for Natale to wake up. She also needed to be patient until Cleto and Rico finished discussing the letter from the King.
After 30 minutes, Natale woke up with terrible body pain. Her wolf tried her best to heal her wounds and broken bones, but after prolonged abuse, her body started to lose vitality. She was getting weaker and weaker each day.
"Rosina," Natale whispered when she saw her daughter sitting on the chair and kept staring at the wall.
"You should go now," Rosina stated coldly and gazed at her mother.
"I—" Natale was hurt by Rosina’s tone, but she shrugged it off since the happiness she felt seeing her daughter again was much more important to her. "I’ll prepare your clothes. You need to take a bath and eat."
Natale forced herself to stand up even though her bones cracked at each movement. She smiled at Rosina before she walked toward the door.
"Why do you let Cleto physically and emotionally abuse you like that?" Rosina asked with a firm voice of disappointment. She didn’t hide her authentic self since she was overwhelmed by her mother’s naivety.
"Rosina, why do you talk like that?" Natale gasped in surprise, seeing her daughter speak that way.
Rosina stood up from her seat and stepped closer toward Natale, her eyes sending daggers. She was much taller than Natale and towered over her petite frame.
"Don’t you have any self-respect left? You’re born as a noble, but Cleto is just a warrior wolf that gained authority because of you, and you let him treat you like a piece of sh^t!" Rosina’s voice rose up in anger. She wanted Natale to fight back, but it looked impossible since she was submissive to her husband.
"Shut your mouth, Rosina! Or he’ll hear you!" Natale hushed Rosina. She turned around to make sure no one was near them.
"There are things you didn’t know and understand regarding mates and marriages, Rosina. It’s not that easy," Natale added before turning her back.
"Are you even real mates, mother," Rosina asked and tilted her head. She saw how Natale flinched upon her question and how her body shook.
"It doesn’t matter. What’s important is that you and your brother will have a good life. That’s enough to make me happy," Natale took a deep breath before giving Rosina a gentle smile and went out of the room.
