Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 161: What to believe
Chapter 161: What to believe
"What? If you are aiming to be a man, you need to shed the naive act first," remarked Dave before resuming his task of packing.
"Anyway, let’s stick to Aurora’s plan. She’s probably more knowledgeable than I am with books, so I will assist with fieldwork if necessary," Dave redirected the conversation, acknowledging Aurora’s efficiency. While he didn’t know much about her, he deemed her trustworthy for challenging tasks.
His brother wouldn’t take interest in a dull woman. There was a reason his brother fell in love with her, and he was sure intelligence played a significant role.
His brother, a diligent Alpha with a strong work ethic, easily identified smart individuals through brief conversations. Sometimes, the person’s action was enough for Damien to determine the person’s intelligence.
"Fieldwork? Like asking around?" Louis inquired, seeking clarification.
"Bingo, Genius. Now, grab your belongings. We have got a journey ahead," Dave responded, prompting Louis to move.
At the mansion,
Aurora awoke to smiling faces in her room. Women with equipment stood ready, assisting her as soon as her eyes opened.
Perplexed at first, Aurora quickly deduced that the caring attendants were there because of one man, Damien. She had grown accustomed to his antics, which were more annoyingly familiar than ever. She wondered what the occasion was today, was he trying to show her off?
"Isn’t that dress too heavy?" Aurora questioned, eyeing the ambiguous blue dress they wanted her to wear. The weather wasn’t chilly, making the uncomfortable attire seem unnecessary for indoor fashion.
"The Alpha advised wearing something to ward off the cold," explained the leader among them, polite in words but displaying clear reluctance. It was evident that she disapproved of dressing up for Aurora.
This strengthened Aurora’s resolve to leave the pack. More individuals like her, who wouldn’t accept her as their Luna, were likely present. Why subject herself to their disdain when she could save herself the trouble?
"Cold? Are we going out?" She inquired, puzzled about the source of the supposed cold.
"Phantom Hills can get quite cold, even in summer," the woman replied, now appearing genuinely concerned.
"Oh," Aurora acknowledged, wondering about the severity of the cold that warranted such concern.
"You have such a fragile body, I fear your body won’t handle the cold well," the woman added, seemingly caring but indirectly insulting Aurora.
"Are you insulting me?" Aurora questioned, refusing to let anyone belittle her, and stared intently at the woman.
"No, I wasn’t. Just stating facts," the woman maintained her composure, unyielding, and Aurora felt an urge to impart a lesson. Damien had bestowed power upon her, and she intended to wield it, tired of being dictated on how she should be. Rebellion often began as a fleeting thought, spreading if not quenched in time.
"Can you repeat those statements in front of your Alpha?" Aurora stood up, her gaze fixed on the woman. For some unknown reason, an intense aura surrounded her, and though the woman hadn’t slandered her, Aurora felt an overwhelming urge to give out punishment.
"I... Miss Aurora, why are you suddenly twisting my words?" the woman asked, fear flickering in her eyes. Intimidation was taking hold, and Aurora sought to amplify that fear.
"Twisting? I was simply interpreting what you said. What’s the matter? Feeling scared already?" she inquired. In an abrupt transformation, her irises turned completely white, and her smirk took on an evil edge, causing everyone to recoil in fear.
The woman fell backward, her breath uneven as she witnessed Aurora transforming into someone unrecognizable. Was their future Luna a beast? This was going to be useful information to eliminate her if she got out of here alive.
Unable to articulate what was happening, she stammered, "Wh....what is wrong with you?"
"You haven’t answered my question. Are you scared?" Bending down to eye level, Aurora gripped her chin.
Nodding vigorously, the woman pleaded, "Yes, please spare my life. I was wrong!"
Giggling, Aurora ran her fingers through the woman’s hair, whispering, "But only your life can appease my anger."
"No, don’t touch me!" The woman screamed, scrambling away from Aurora.
"You want me to chase you? I love that," Aurora declared, advancing toward her. About to seize her by the leg, Aurora suddenly stiffened, her iris turning back to the normal blue color.
Seizing the opportunity, the woman kicked her away, causing her to fall harshly. At that moment, Damien entered the room, exclaiming, "Fuck!" as he beheld the chaotic scene. Where was Aurora?
"Aurora!" He called out upon spotting her crumpled on the floor, appearing to be in pain.
He lifted her and settled her in his lap, tapping her face to bring her back. Gasping for air, Aurora breathed and slumped against him.
"Are you okay?" Damien inquired, deeply concerned.
"Yes, what happened? How did I end up on the floor?" Glancing around, Aurora sought answers. She remembered confronting the woman for calling her fragile, but everything after that was a blur.
"Did we fight?" She questioned, trying to make sense of the situation.
"No, it seems like she pushed you," Damien replied, his gaze sharp as he glared at the woman, who was on the verge of tears.
"Alpha, she’s a witch. She turned into something evil and tried to kill me. If you don’t believe me, ask others, they will tell you," the woman explained, attempting to defend herself before things took a dire turn.
"What are you saying? You called me fragile, and I confronted you. That’s the last thing I remember," Aurora countered, irritated by the woman’s fabrications to save herself.
"Anyone outside?" Damien called, and two guards promptly entered.
"Yes, Alpha," they answered in unison.
"Lock them up in a room until I return," he commanded, and the guards swiftly carried out his orders.
"Alpha, this is unfair! Why won’t you believe our words?!" The woman protested, struggling against the guards’ grasp. This was insane!
"I decide what to believe," Damien asserted, and she was dragged away.
