Alpha Damien's Breeder: The first night -
Chapter 15: Arrogant man
Chapter 15: Arrogant man
As dinner approached, Damien requested that his food be brought to his room, stating that he would not be dining with the rest of the people. Aurora reluctantly accepted her unfortunate fate, realizing that as long as the Alpha was in the mansion, she would always have to encounter him, even when she didn’t want to.
She now regretted her promotion to her current position, finding it more troublesome than she had anticipated.
"Come in," she heard him say before entering his room. It had been over five years since she had last been in his room, and it appeared more beautiful than she remembered. Of course, she had only spent one night there, so she hadn’t had the chance to appreciate its beauty.
Damien stood by the window, holding a file in his hands. He was dressed only in his pants, his upper body exposed.
’What is he doing?’ She thought, immediately scolding herself for her panicked reaction.
"Would you just stand there?" His voice startled her, pulling her out of her inappropriate thoughts. She moved further into the room and placed his food on the table, deliberately avoiding his gaze to prevent herself from having further improper thoughts.
"I will take my leave now," she said, not waiting for a reply as she headed towards the door.
"Wait!" He called out suddenly, causing her to stop in her tracks. She hadn’t expected him to call her back when she was already feeling flustered.
Damien slowly walked towards his dinner and scanned the dishes, but he couldn’t find the tea. Arrogantly, he asked, "Where is the tea?" refusing to admit his fondness for it.
"The tea?" Aurora repeated, wondering why he wanted tea at such a late hour. Then she realized what he meant and understood that he liked the tea she had prepared earlier. It was his way of admitting his feelings.
"Alpha, it’s too late for tea, but I can prepare something similar to it. I will be right back," she quickly responded, scurrying off. She praised herself for successfully avoiding his gaze, as he had a way of stirring up wild thoughts.
She smiled as she recalled him asking for the tea she had prepared. Of course, who wouldn’t fall in love with her culinary skills? Whether it was solid or liquid, she was a master at it all.
Soon, she returned to his room and served him a juice with a fragrance similar to the tea she had made in the afternoon. Though they were different, they had a similar effect.
"If that’s all, I will take my leave now, Alpha," she hesitated for a moment, waiting to see if he would call her back. When he made no such indication, she finally left his room.
Serving him was more challenging than she had anticipated, but it was finally over.
The following morning
Fortunately, Damien would be dining with everyone in the dining room.
He looked fresh and handsome, his face devoid of stress. It was the first time she had seen him looking so attractive. She smiled, giving herself credit for making the good tea. It was all thanks to her skills.
"Brother, you look unusually refreshed today. Care to share your secret?" Dave, as usual, teased Damien, who didn’t bother sparing his carefree brother a glance.
"Come on, don’t you all agree?" Dave mischievously asked the others at the table, bursting into laughter that annoyed Damien. Dave had a knack for testing his patience, especially when he wanted to be left alone. It was time to start punishing him for it.
"Dave, attend Alpha Nureo’s brother’s wedding in my place. Make no mistakes," if Dave was skilled at mocking him, Damien was adept at taunting him.
"What? No!" Dave objected loudly, quickly shifting to a serious demeanor. Damien chuckled inwardly, satisfied with his brother’s reaction.
"Are you going to disobey your Alpha?" Damien questioned, a grin forming on his face.
"Alpha, you know very well that their sister is obsessed with me. It wasn’t easy evading her the last time, and I don’t want to attend the wedding," Dave explained, feeling a shiver run down his spine as he recalled Charlotte’s persistent stalking, which she falsely claimed was love.
"Don’t mix personal feelings with work," Damien dismissed, showing little concern and prepared to make Dave pay for his mockery.
"How am I supposed to do a perfect job with such an obstacle?" Dave interjected, hoping Damien would understand his point of view.
"You are an Alpha’s assistant. You thrive on overcoming obstacles," Damien stated, shocking Dave beyond measure. Was Damien joking with him right now?
"I apologize for mocking you. Please spare me this time," Dave pleaded, adopting a childish face that had often convinced Damien in the past. However, Damien wasn’t having any of it. If he didn’t punish Dave now, he would repeat his behavior.
"As I said, no personal feelings," Damien declared firmly, finalizing his decision. Dave slumped in his chair, almost on the verge of tears. He could already imagine the ordeal he would face in Charlotte’s presence.
"Enoch can attend in your place. Why do I have to go?" Dave refused to accept defeat easily. If Damien wanted to honor Nureo as an Alpha, Enoch, who held the position of Beta, was the best choice for the job.
"Enoch is already occupied," Damien replied curtly. Dave frowned and glanced at Enoch, who avoided his gaze. Dave knew it was a lie. Damien was trying to punish him for his mockery.
"Dave, it’s time you face your challenge once and for all. Good luck!" Enoch chimed in, further adding salt to Dave’s wound. If it were so easy to face it, he wouldn’t be adamantly refusing to attend.
Aurora had just finished serving the entire table and overheard their conversations. She felt sorry for Dave and wondered why he had to provoke that arrogant man. She secretly glared at Damien and rolled her eyes.
Unfortunately, Damien caught her in the act, directing his gaze at her.
"My room needs its windows cleaned. Not a speck of dust should remain. Understood?" He demanded.
