Chapter 197 197: Critical Hit.

Leo picked up Lily from the school, it was very uneventful, because Lily complained, "All the days cannot be happy and cheery, some days are bland Baba."

Leo nodded and said, "Fine, as long as they are not too bad."

Lily shook her head as she leaned in the seat. Leo made a turn and Lily asked, "Huh? Where are we heading?"

Leo replied, "We are going to visit Uncle Rao."

Lily nodded and asked, "Did you bring gifts?"

Leo shook his head and answered, "Elvin called me for work."

Lily nodded and then she asked, "So, that means we are going to have lunch with him as well?"

Leo nodded with a gentle humming sound and Lily replied, "I hope the food is edible."

Leo chuckled and he asked, "Who told you that? Do you have doubts?"

Lily sighed and replied, "He doesn't look very reliable."

Leo covered his mouth as he held back the urge to laugh his lungs into oblivion. After a second he said, "Don't say that to him."

Lily nodded and replied calmly, "I am wise like that."

Leo nodded and said, "Yes, my baby is wise. I am proud of her."

That said, he drove the car to the gate of the Rao Mansion, and the next moment, the giant metal doors slid open. Leo looked through the window and found that a security team had been placed in by Elvin as he drove past the gates. Zeenat said, "Sir, this is a rather dubious bunch."

Leo nodded and replied, "Yes, I am sure, but they are temporary hires. Elvin must have contracted someone better."

They parked the car, and as soon as they stepped out of the vehicle Leo frowned as he sensed the vibe change. He looked at Zeenat and said, "It seems that we were too quick to judge them."

Zeenat nodded and patted her blazer gently. Leo carried Lily in his arms as he walked up to the door of the house, and was about to knock when the door was pulled open from the inside. Leo saw an old man dressed in a butler attire, and he raised his brow, "Mister Theodore Varsillase. Where did Elvin manage to find you?"

The old man revealed a gentle smile and bowed slightly as he said, "Master Cardinal, it is a pleasure to host you again."

Lily looked at the old man and Leo said, "Lily, this is Uncle Theodore, you will address him as Grandpa Theodore. Okay?"

Lily nodded and replied sweetly, "Greetings, Grandpa Theodore, have you been well?"

The old man caught the contagious smile and replied positively as he said, "Thank you for your concern, Young Miss Cardinal."

Then he invited the trio inside the house, and led them past the gallery and had them sit in the living room. A few moments later, Elvin Rao climbed down the stairs, and he walked over to Lily with quick steps, and greeted her with great enthusiasm, "Hello little darling, did you have fun at school?"

Lily smiled and nodded, and Elvin smiled as he said, "Good, today I got a lot of candies for you. Also, don't worry, your Baba won't say anything."

Then he looked at the maid on the side and took over a few boxes from her hands, he presented them to Lily and said, "I saw you carry a small pin on your bag strap last time. So I figured you liked these ones."

Lily looked at Leo and the latter said, "Okay, I know, you can say it."

Lily let go of her breath and looked at Elvin as she sweetly said, "Uncle Elvin thank you for the gifts, but I have the pin from this candy, because Baba bought these companies under my name and all the earnings apart from operations is donated to charity. I am only allowed to eat one candy a day, and I had mine for the day in school."

Leo smiled and Elvin sighed as he said, "I thought I finally did something that will really pamper you."

Lily smiled and sassily replied, "You have a lot to learn, Uncle Elvin"

Elvin smiled and Leo asked, "Yo, if you are done taking classes from my daughter, can you tell me why am I called here?"

Elvin nodded and said, "We shall head to the dining room and then talk about it. It is lunch time and I had Uncle Theo make his acclaimed, Chicken Nuggets."

Leo nodded and stood up with Lily following behind him. The trio came inside the dining hall, and they sat down on a big table. Elvin sat on the head of the family position with Leo sitting beside him. The food was served, and Leo helped Lily with it so that she could eat without working too much.

Elvin looked at him and remarked, "I never knew you were so servile."

Leo rolled his eyes and asked, "Can you speak now?"

Elvin sighed and replied, "The next target is probably the biggest culprit and the center of this entire scene. His name is Commissioner Tully."

Leo raised his brows and asked, "The Angkor City Police Commissioner?"

Elvin nodded and replied, "Three years ago, he was the head of critical crime unit and they brushed the accident to general cases. It was his doing. I have his official report file."

Elvin looked at Theodore who came over with a small file in his hands. Elvin said, "This is a copy, couldn't move the original one without causing some big trouble."

Leo took the file and began to read the content, and he said, "So, you are saying he did this transfer deliberately?"

Elvin nodded and said, "Flip over."

Leo did as he was told and found that Commissioner Tully was rather rich for a public servant. He raised his brow and Elvin said, "This wealth is something that was bestowed upon him by Carole Primal in kind. All the assets were shown to have been gifted to the commissioner's wife, who was then working as a manager in a shell company. These are her incentive payments."

Leo nodded and said, "I will take this with me and confirm things before thinking what shall be done with these people."

Elvin nodded and said, "What about Kraven?"

Leo replied, "He should be coming to his knees soon."

Then he turned to look at Lily who was enjoying her meal, and Elvin asked, "Leo do you think it is right for us to discuss such things before her?"

Lily raised her gaze from the plate and replied, "Uncle Elvin, it is important that I am aware of such things."

Elvin was surprised and asked, "Why do you say so?"

Lily smiled and replied, "Knowing that someone might lose their control and attack me, I would be able to save myself and also to make sure that the person pays the price. One way to keep yourself safe is to know the enemy. So, this is better."

Elvin was surprised as he didn't realize that this adorable toddler would be so level headed. He looked at Lily in a daze and said, "I feel so bad that my thoughts are shallow compared to a four years old."

Lily smiled and said, "Is this why you didn't tell Aunty Cherry that you like her?"

Leo raised his brow and looked at Lily as he asked, "How can you say that?"

Lily sighed as she rolled her eyes and said, "I saw him looking at Aunty Cherry just the same way you look at Ma when you say 'I love you' to her."

The old man Theodore standing behind Elvin said, "Sir, it was your mother's eternal worry that you might not find a partner easily. Since you have a good opinion of the young lady, might as well pursue her."

Elvin was left in a daze, Lily looked at him and sighed, "I told you he is unreliable in any matter. I will have to do something to find him a wife now."

She turned to look at Leo and spoke with an elderly expression on her face, "The world of adults is really troublesome."

Leo was holding in his laughter with all his might and nodded. Elvin looked at Lily and asked, "Why do you sound like my mom?"

Lily shrugged and said, "Shouldn't you be asking why you don't sound like my Uncle?"

Leo finally couldn't hold it in and he started laughing out loud, and Elvin's face twisted into an ugly mosaic. Lily had delivered a critical hit to his gut and it drew blood directly. The meeting came to an end and when they were discussing the things about business, Lily had fallen asleep with her head resting on Leo's shoulder, who cradled her in his arms and patted her back gently.

When they came out of the house and drove away, Zeenat had taken the steering with Leo in the back with Lily in his arms, and Zeenat said, "Sir, I know that I have trouble expressing my emotions, but the situation today, Young Miss, surely is a lethal blade."

Leo smiled as he rubbed Lily's back gently and that was all, he didn't know how to answer this comment, but said, "Thank you for looking after her, Zeenat."

Zeenat nodded and said, "The pleasure is mine, Sir."

They drove off into the traffic, heading home.
