Chapter 828: Chapter 156: Clan Market
"An Jing!"
The disciples working on both sides of the street, which was filled with goods and various artifacts, looked up and saw the figure walking slowly towards them. With surprise in their hearts, they greeted with a bow, "I can’t believe we see him here!"
The figure smiled, raised his hand, and nodded to them.
"Master An, what brings you to our place today? Are you here to buy something?"
The street was bustling with activity. Fruits and spiritual food from various Great Spirit Lands within the sect, armor and clothing crafted from the fur and bones of various spirit beasts and ferocious beasts, exquisite porcelain and all kinds of domestic magic artifacts that might seem ordinary within the sect but could definitely fetch high prices outside in Dust Li, were casually displayed in the shops.
A True Disciple adjusting a shop dispute heard the voices of other Inner Sect Disciples. He too looked up in surprise. After briefly scolding the two shop owners who were arguing over territory, he enthusiastically greeted An Jing.
The figure waved his hand, "I’m here to buy many assorted things. Don’t worry, I can handle it myself."
"Peak Master An, such small matters, you could have someone else handle it. Why trouble yourself?"
Noticing someone’s arrival, the senior True Disciple managing this spiritual land market, close to becoming a sect steward, also walked out from the market center management. He laughed heartily, "Have some time for a drink later? I got some good wine from Heguang. Thanks to his return, we have more good wine in the sect."
"Not today, Master Yunji. Also, keep your voice down."
At these words, the figure paused, trying not to laugh, "If our Grandmaster hears you here at Dawn Brightness Peak, he might say nothing, but Master Heguang might get scolded again."
"That’s exactly what I want!"
Master Yunji laughed heartily. He, being of the same generation as Ming Heguang and Mingguang Dust but older and having just broken through the Divine Repository recently, looked quite old due to lingering injuries from battles, having pushed past his lifespan for the breakthrough. "If he doesn’t get scolded, how should we entertain? Here, this is the ’Wood Element Martial Meridian Skill’ you requested. You’ve bought two or three versions without figuring it out yet?"
"I’ve figured it out long ago. Just refining the details, striving for perfection."
Stepping forward, An Jing, in a white-gold-embroidered robe of the Bright Mirror Sect True Disciple, took a jade book from Master Yunji and smiled, "Thank you, Master Yunji, for gathering it for me."
"Oh, what are you saying? My talent is average, becoming Divine Repository was thanks to the sect. I should do more for the sect’s younger generation."
The white-haired martial artist shook his head and handed An Jing a few extremely pure high-grade wood spirit stones. "Thanks for your earlier tips. I never thought that my ’Golden Mouth and Wooden Tongue’ Fate Pattern not only meant to educate and speak with authority but was related to cultivating magic artifacts alongside ’Gold Wood Shocking Bell’... it truly is an artifact cultivation Fate Pattern. On reflection, I did enjoy forging magic artifacts in my early years..."
"If I had realized earlier, my cultivation might not have been so rocky."
Master Yunji sighed. His cultivation involved both gold and wood elements, and he had collected many related magical techniques over the years. An Jing seeking related information had helped a lot, so An Jing, using Life Observation Eyes, helped identify some cognitive errors for him.
To his sigh, An Jing shook his head, "It’s not too late—I’ve noticed your foundation is solid. Now that you understand your lifebound essence, future progression to Strange Mandate should be smooth sailing, and Great Heaven’s Sanctification not impossible."
"I’ll take your word for it,"
Master Yunji chuckled. Not that he didn’t believe An Jing, but he knew such a future was barely plausible, "I won’t delay you. Have a look around, and call on me if needed. I’m going back to cultivate."
"See you, Master Yunji."
Watching Master Yunji return to the management office, An Jing exhaled and looked around the market.
Not far, around Dawn Brightness Peak shrouded in foggy mirror light, mirages flickered, showing pavilions, palaces, exotic plants, lakes, evoking the serene elegance of the Immortal Path and the majestic grandeur of the Heavenly Court.
At the foot of the mountain, a real city nestled in a flat hollow, seeming to mirror the mirage scenes. Its classical buildings and shops exuded delicate charm. The hanging signs and slogans, along with the automatic-voicing artifacts in shops, brought liveliness and a familiar sense to An Jing.
An Jing observed it all, seeing dust rise with the flow of people, feeling the warm breeze carrying scents from restaurants, hearing spirit birds chirping nearby.
A spry black dog chased a fish-holding tabby cat—this fish, evidently a spirit beast—across the street, vanishing around a corner, while the owners of the Goumao Fish called their pets’ names loudly, chasing across the street.
This was the small city under Dawn Brightness Peak.
Dust Li’s Five Sects, each sect like a nation, and each peak like a state’s administration unit, held numerous cities, many being homes for Outer and Inner Sect disciples, resembling giant campuses.
Some cities, like the market town An Jing visited, mainly gathered and distributed spiritual produce of the sect, mostly self-produced and self-consumed, sold at cost to disciples for their cultivation.
Mingguang Peak, being new with few disciples and no spiritual lands, had no accompanying town and market. Thus, An Jing tended to shop at the Dawn Brightness Peak market.
In familiar spiritual shops, An Jing bought some Five Elements Spirit Objects. The shopkeeper, recognizing An Jing, was about to ’gift’ them—but An Jing cut him off firmly, "Do you think I’d take a bribe? Or that I’m broke?"
"I wouldn’t dare!"
The shopkeeper, an elderly Inner Sect Disciple, knowing aging disciples not becoming Martial Vein Grandmasters often retired or worked for the sect, had children with talent learning in the sect, tried to forge kind ties for them.
An Jing didn’t mind forging ties, but he had to pay for purchases. So he waved it off, "I have plenty of sect contribution. If you want to help, gather some spirit objects for me..."
An Jing listed spirit objects, not rare but precious Five Elements types—seeming to assist in forging Divine Weapons?
Was An Jing forging Five Elements Divine Weapons?
Considering his Jiuli Commanding General Fate Pattern, the shopkeeper found it unsurprising and quickly agreed, "Rest assured, Peak Master An. Except for a few very rare ones, I’ll gather the rest within a month!"
"Don’t worry, I won’t shortchange you. These are prepayments. Just handle the task well; the rest is unimportant."
An Jing waved generously, spending his contributions lavishly, unconcerned.
For his contributions overflowed, with no clear use.
Kanming City, Red Tower City, combating traitors, guiding cultivation, and Children of Calamity missions... Though Mingguang Peak lacked resources and income, divided among the fifty-one disciples, they were the richest in Bright Mirror Sect.
One major task remained.
After shopping, An Jing entered a private room in the town market.
"Master Heguang, I’ve arrived."
