These words poured like a bucket of ice-cold water over Bo Jingmo, instantly bringing back what little rationality he had left.

He subconsciously loosened his grip. "Sorry... I'll be gentler."

"It's fine."

The girl propped her chin with her other hand, watching him with curved eyes as she slowly said, "Director, was your wrist also injured?"

Hearing this, Bo Jingmo froze, instinctively wanting to hide the bandage on his wrist, but it was too late. He didn't know how to respond either. After a moment of silence, he could only vaguely mutter "Mm," his voice guilty, not even daring to raise his head to meet Yu Li's gaze.

As soon as he spoke, the air seemed to freeze solid.

The girl tilted her head, the smile completely disappearing from her lips as she stared at him calmly with unreadable eyes.

After a long pause, she suddenly laughed softly and spoke slowly:

"That's really... too careless."

Though just a simple sentence, it made Bo Jingmo's body stiffen as if covered by a spiderweb of tension. He didn't understand where this panic came from, only forcing himself to ignore the abnormality.

After quickly finishing bandaging the girl's wound, he slowly released her hand and silently organized the medical supplies, using the activity to mask his inner turmoil.

Yu Li stood up and pulled down her sleeve, still wearing a smile, but this smile carried an additional layer of distance and formality compared to before.

"Thank you, Director."

Bo Jingmo couldn't help but look up, meeting those completely emotionless eyes, his fingertips trembling slightly.

"My hand—"

"I should get going now, Director. Sister Yu Yu is waiting for me."

The girl directly interrupted, seemingly uninterested in his explanation. Bo Jingmo could only slowly close his mouth, standing rooted like a child who'd done something wrong, bewildered and at a loss, just blankly watching the girl's back disappear from view.

A few seconds later, his eyelashes fluttered as he rushed to the door and pulled it open violently.

Hearing the noise, the girl turned back in surprise, raising an eyebrow. "Director? You're not thinking of escorting me downstairs, are you?"

"I..."

Bo Jingmo's fist clenched tightly at his side, his eyes darkening. After a few seconds, he spoke softly:

"I just wanted to say... be careful on the stairs..."

"Alright, thank you for your concern."

Once she reached the stairwell, Yu Li's smile gradually faded. She touched her bandaged wound and silently curled her lips.

Well done. Lost your memory and learned to lie too.

Bo Jingmo.

Carrying the documents as she reached the fourth-floor landing, the iron door swung open at an unusually wide angle this time, as if sensing the girl's impatience, giving off a vibe of taking advantage when one's guard was down.

Yu Li silently stared for a few seconds before letting out a low chuckle and slowly stepping inside.

After she entered, the iron door slowly closed without making a single sound. The doorknob was silently entwined by strands of black mist, locking firmly in place.

The fourth floor was larger than Yu Li had imagined—winding corridors and countless rooms making it seem like she'd stumbled into another parallel world. In the pitch-black hallway, only a faint light glowed in the distance.

She pressed her phone's power button, only for it to display a low battery warning before shutting down.

The battery that had shown forty percent just moments ago had plummeted instantly.

Yu Li raised her head, staring toward the dark end of the corridor.

As her gaze landed there, the last light abruptly went out.

Now completely enveloped in darkness.

Yu Li felt something gently trying to pull the documents from her hand. She immediately tightened her grip and said calmly,

"These aren't mine. You can't throw them away."

The movement instantly stopped. Then, a cold, soft sensation lightly brushed against her fingertips.

Yu Li raised her hand, rubbing her fingertips together in the darkness.

"Are you going to make me stand here forever?"

As soon as she spoke, a "click" sounded in the air as a light turned on, revealing a door at the end of the hallway that had suddenly opened.

The dim lighting clearly pointed her way.

Yu Li's lips curved slightly.

Just as I thought.

She seemed to understand what this instance meant now.

Walking slowly toward the room, Yu Li paused when passing certain doors, peering inside through the rectangular windows.

Though the rooms were pitch black, she inexplicably felt countless pairs of icy, sinister eyes staring intently at her from within.

Faint, intermittent sobs whispered in her ears.

Yu Li tilted her head, eyes glinting, before suddenly turning around to walk back. "Trying to scare me? Then I'm not going."

The air seemed to freeze for a second before rustling sounds filled the surroundings, as if something wanted to cry but was forcing itself not to.

A few seconds later, the hallway fell completely silent.

And the atmosphere somehow became... oddly harmonious.

Yu Li chuckled, tapping the documents with her fingers before finally entering the room.

The door closed quietly behind her.

"Don't lock it. That'd be troublesome."

This immediately stopped whatever was about to lock the door.

It was an unused hospital room, but kept spotless by regular cleaning, the bed's quilt folded neatly into perfect squares.

She ran her hand along the edge before sitting down gently—after all, certain ghosts would tidy up after she left.

Yu Li was indeed tired. She'd worked most of the day after transmigrating here, even transitioning directly from the previous instance without any rest.

Lying quietly on the bed, she stared at the ceiling. The scent of disinfectant filled the air, mixed with something else... a familiar pine fragrance.

A glimmer of amusement flashed through her eyes as Yu Li closed them, the documents slipping unnoticed from her hand.

Or perhaps, being pulled away by something.

In their place came cautious probing—her fingertips lightly grasped as a chilling presence slowly enveloped her. Excited panting seemed to echo in the air.

Yu Li's eyelids fluttered as she prepared to open her eyes, only for a hand to gently cover them.

Unlike at noon, these hands were abnormally cold. Despite the comfortably cool weather, the other radiated piercing, bone-deep chill.

Just as Yu Li parted her lips to speak, suddenly, they were softly captured by another's.

She froze slightly.

The man's lips were icy, yet his scent was intimately familiar. Even the kiss was restrained and gentle, yet unable to hide its underlying excitement and trembling.

A hoarse voice spoke in an achingly familiar tone:

"Lili, you smell so nice..."
